Kiki Sheung Tin Gnor and her boyfriend, Patrick, will be getting married in October 2010. While shopping for their wedding needs earlier, Patrick bought a $140,000 (HKD) swan diamond and pearl ring for Kiki. As many people complimented Kiki on the beautiful diamond ring, she revealed that she preferred receiving a watch instead.
The reporter noted that a watch did not bear as much significance as a ring and complimented Patrick’s thoughtfulness in buying a ring with a swan design (Kiki’s Chinese name is ‘swan’). Kiki responded, “I appreciate Honey’s thoughtful gesture. However I am a practical person. Luxury watches retain their value over time and I can wear it more frequently. On the contrary, the swan design on the ring is quite large and it’s easy to scratch it with frequent wear.”
The reporter agreed that if the wedding gifts were damaged, that would be an unlucky omen.

Jayne: Kiki is being her blunt self again. Should a woman complain about the expensive jewelry her boyfriend/ husband buys her? The man is being generous; she should just graciously receive it!

I agree with Jayne. It’s the thoughts that counts. Haha, she should give her fiance a break and also some face. Why criticise his present in the open? Everyone would like to be appreciated for their effort.
But, maybe it’s this blunt self of hers that her fiance likes. At least, he doesn’t need to guess what she’s thinking.
Lastly, why is she thinking of the resell value of the ring? :p

Congratulations to the couple! Rumors had been floating around for a while about Kiki’s marriage. It’s good to know they’ve finally decided on a month.
While I think the swan ring is beautiful, for a wedding/engagement gift, I’d understand why she wants something she can wear all the time (in a sense, she can carry around her happiness). Then again, they could easily turn the ring into a necklace or brooch.
