Leehom Wang Still Doesn’t Know Second Child’s Gender

Taiwanese American singer Leehom Wang (王力宏) and his wife, Lee Jinglei (李靚蕾), are expecting their second child. Since Jinglei is still in the early stages of pregnancy, Leehom recently revealed that they do not yet know the child’s gender but that he will keep his fans updated when they find out.

Having been married for three years, Leehom and Jinglei currently have a one-year-old daughter, Wang Jiali (王嘉莉). At a recent press conference, Leehom happily shared that Jiali is able to sleep through the night now and no longer needs to be breastfed in the middle of the night. Because of this, Jinglei is able to rest well and maintain her health.

In addition, Leehom expressed gratitude that Jinglei is very supportive and tolerant of his busy work schedule. Although the couple splits up childcare duties, there are still times when Leehom, who has a concert film titled Open Fire 3D: The Movie <火力全開3D > lined up for a summer release and a new album scheduled for a year-end release, cannot spend as much time with his family as he would like.

Fortunately, Leehom’s occupation allows him to create music at home, giving him more opportunities to be a dutiful husband and father. He cherishes those jobs, calling them “the nutrients of life that help [him] become a better person.” For Jinglei’s 30th birthday recently, Leehom invited some close friends over for a surprise party – but because he could not get the timing right, they ended up waiting 40 minutes for the couple to return home. Nevertheless, Jinglei was very touched by the gesture.

Jinglei was discovered to be pregnant with the couple’s second child in February, when she was spotted visiting an obstetrics and gynecology clinic. The child’s gender is still unknown. As for whether he would encourage his first child to pursue music, Leehom said he would not insist on it and jokingly added, “Right now, my biggest wish is for her to hurry up and get potty trained!”

  1. breastfeeding is a lot of work so glad she’s no longer doing it throughout the night!

  2. It is interesting that he appears to give his daughter only a Chinse name despite her American birth. Talk about someone who is up against the grain.

LeeHom was born Alexander Wang in Rochester NY. However, ever since he went to Taiwan to start his music career, he has been using his Chinese name exclusively.

When he was in a movie with old midget Aaron Kwok and other HK actors, his name was the only Chinese sounding one on the English billboard; and he was the only native English speaker in the cast. How ironic was that.

I was thinking the same thing. Here’s an ABC who doesn’t use an English name, and neither does his wife. What a rarity among Chinese celebs.

‘old midget’ Aaron Kwok? No one ever said that about Prince whose 5’2″ stature wasn’t an obstacle to his fan’s adoration.
