Linda Chung Hopes to Lose Weight as Bridesmaid for Leanne Li’s Wedding

Enjoying a relaxing vacation during the winter break before returning to work, Linda Chung (鍾嘉欣) sported a healthy glow at the 2015 Hong Kong Fur Design Competition.

Admitting she had gained weight during her tropical getaway, Linda was in great spirits and joked about needing to shed some extra pounds before becoming a bridesmaid for good friend, Leanne Li’s (李亞男) wedding in February. Normally quite conservative, Linda surprised her fans with a picture of herself in a retro one-piece swimsuit.

In response to her swimsuit picture being a hit on her Weibo blog, Linda laughed, “This was very healthy – I, myself, really like retro styled swimsuits.” And hoping to lose weight before Leanne’s wedding, Linda added, “I’m Leanne’s bridesmaid on February 14 and I have to wear a witch costume. The shirt is slightly revealing and see-through, so I have to lose [weight] this month.”

Yu Chiu’s Daughter is a Makeup Fanatic

Working hard as a single mother to provide for her family, Yu Chiu (趙頌茹) strives to maintain a balance between work and spending time with her daughters. Appearing at the fur competition as a model, Yu donned a very dramatic makeup look. Yu also revealed that her two-year-old daughter likes to play the role of makeup guru in the house and frequently uses her face as a canvas. Since her daughter does not have access to makeup products, Yu laughed and said her daughter uses red markers and blue pencil crayons instead.

  1. Bridesmaid wearing a witch costume? Haha, interesting…

  2. Linda is so freaking skinny i saw her in person just last year i doubt she gained any weight. Hk standards of being skinny is crazy!

    1. First thing that pops in my head was “Lose weight? What weight???”

  3. Weird, ’cause she’s just the bridesmaid. No point in losing weight and trying to look better. Her current weight is fine, and imo, already quite skinny.

  4. She really should not do that. She should gain weight instead.

    1. That’s the problem with some women. Always think they are not pretty enough, not slim enough, not fair enough, hair not straight enough, not tall enough.. @@

For artist like them, their standards are even higher. Their “slim” could be even -ve size.. Haha

      1. That’s not the problem of some women, it’s the problem with society lol. It’s society that is standardising women’, creating categories in which females are to identify with as either being a “good size” or “bad size”. All bodies are different, even if both females weighed exactly the same number on the scale and have the same height, one may look bigger than the other because of bone mass, muscle mass, fat etc. i think schools really need to think about educating the younger generations more about this while weight and body image when technology nowadays is really screwing up people’s minds about what is considered perfect body when they then go and compare a photoshopped model to their own body.

I know artists slways try to slim down due to their job and being the face of whatever company hence the requirements to be a certain size, but it’s quite concerning when most of these artists companies look for to endorse their brand are quite slim already, and yet artists then need to slim down even further sometimes. What kind of message is that sending to society when these artists are idols and role models of people of all ages.. but overall I don’t think it’s a problem stemming from women, if it weren’t for society’s constant judgement and standardisation of women then body image wouldn’t be so concerning as it is now imo.

      2. It is not just HK but on Asia. Their standards of being thin is ridiculous. In the US,many would consider me small and skinny, but in HK and other Asian countties, they may consider me a bit meaty.

      3. Oh yeah, cultural viewpoints are definitely different HK vs USA. I’m considered tiny at my work for being 5’4″ @135lbs. Then, take a vacation to HK with family, I am considered a bit meaty :P. I had hints from younger family about clothing fitting/ being a bit plumpy. However, my older aunts/uncles loved the fact that I ate so well. (I can never say no to yumminess) Standards are so very different -like two different worlds! Just try to be healthy and comfortable with yourself! 🙂

  5. Linda doesn’t need to lose weight it is the men standing next to her that needs to gain weight and a few inches in height

In person she is so very thin.

    1. She’s also very tall for a female in Hong kong, so I don’t know what weight she needs to lose when her height pretty much balances everything out. As long as she’s healthy, I don’t see why she needs to lose weight as a bridesmaid lol!

    2. AHAHAHA I do kind of agree that most of the actors need to gain some weight. Most of them have abs and yeah, thats hot and all. But their muscle mass is soo little. I feel like they are no different from women.

And damn Joe Ma is so tall. Watched him in Tigers Club II and gosh he is the tallest of them all. I find him quite hot as well… for his age. I hope I get to see him in more tvb series… really want those good actors and actresses back.

I find it really stupid how tvb recruits or allow those with very low acting skills to have main character roles. Especially those Miss Hong Kong pageant winners and they get into the acting industry. LIke WTF? They cant act shiiiit. Like that Abby character from Overachievers. Yes she may be good looking at all but I just wanted to gouge out my eyeballs when I watched her. Not just her… a lot of those as well

  6. Gain or lose weight, it does not make any difference to her awful acting. My friends and I just can’t stop laughing at her overly dramatic intense look in TC2. If good acting simply means widening someone’s eyes and pursing the lips, then 99% of the people in the world can act.

  7. Linda is gonna try to loose weight OMG…she’s a stick already why must HK ppl consider being toothpick looks sexy??!!! I think if a women even out find it good to me

  8. She’s wearing fur???? I believe people that have no love for animals would wear fur. Bad

    1. Everyone who consume animal products (meat, fish, chicken, eggs, milk, etc) have no love for animals. So unless you’re a Vegan like myself, you also dont have love for animals.

People can’t say they have love for animals, yet, killing it (directly or indirectly through purchasing it for food). Logic does not make sense.

      1. So are you saying that eating dogs and cats are ok too since they are animals and we eat animals?

  9. Seriously, Linda, I hope our posts find their way to you. I hope u were just kidding about losing weight.

Before guilt sets in about the number on the scale, consider that you may not actually be overweight because you’re already living a healthy lifestyle.
Also, u may be runway-model thin because u r genetically built that way.
So focus on maintaining a healthy weight for your age and body type. No diet is necessary.

  10. Linda looks funny in this photo.

And I reckon our society is bombarded with photoshopping models in magazines to have a certain “look” which creates such an expectation for most women to think “thin” is the ideal body size. However, this goes to all countries, not just in Asia. But I think in Asian countries, you are judged by your size so often that it became a competition-like, to see who has the smallest waist line/skinniest.

If only one would stop judging one another.
