Mandy Wong, Elaine Yiu Support Nancy Wu for Best Actress

With the TVB Anniversary Awards taking place on December 13, anticipation is building for this year’s awards race.

Elaine Yiu (姚子羚)–who was nominated for the Best Actress, My Most Favorite Female Character, and Best Supporting Actress categories–said, “When my girlfriends saw that I was nominated [for Best Actress], they were even happier about it than I was!”

Elaine’s good friend, Mandy Wong (黃智雯), was also nominated for Best Actress for her performance in The Fixer <拆局專家>. Mandy expressed excitedly, “It was my first time being cast as the female lead, and it’s also my first time being nominated for Best Actress. I am twice as happy! Five of my girlfriends were also nominated. The feelings I have right now are indescribable.”

Although Elaine and Mandy admitted that they were not confident in winning the Best Actress award, they expressed their support in good friend, Nancy Wu (胡定欣). Elaine instead said that she hoped to win the Best Supporting Actress Award.

Turning 34 years old on November 21, Elaine hoped to spend her birthday with her close girlfriends and family. When asked whether she will be celebrating with rumored boyfriend and millionaire, Cheng Tsz Bong (鄭子邦), Elaine immediately dodged the question and looked to Mandy for help. Instead, Mandy bluntly responded, “I think he is a very sweet person. He makes Elaine very happy! He’s already got her flowers.” Elaine blushed and smiled, “I don’t remember!”

    1. @freedalas doubt it. She hasn’t done any roles this yr that were particularly memorable, esp not in COD. At least, not from what i could recall. But Nancy wu’s role has def been overrated. I find her performance in OT ghost particularly bland. If she wins “My Fav Character” or “Best Actress” for it, I may have to boycott the awards for the next few yrs. Such an insult to the awards.

      1. @coralie I agree. I like Nancy, but her role in OT is not her best performance nor a memorable one. The character and her acting were bland in it. I don’t understand how she got the hype for it.
