Miriam Yeung and Real Ting’s $20 Million Wedding in Hong Kong

After getting secretly married in Las Vegas last year, Miriam Yeung and Real Ting held their wedding banquet in Hong Kong on December 20th. When Real made his declaration of love for Miriam, the buoyant bride laughed and cried throughout the wedding. Miriam and Ting’s wedding was full of laughter and tears.

Thirty-six year-old Miriam and 31-year-old Real held their 48 table wedding banquet at the Grand Hyatt Hotel. The wedding carried a Las Vegas style and the venue was decorated in purple, which was Miriam’s favorite color and the secondary color was white. The extravagant wedding cake had nine layers, each with a different flavor.

With a public relations background, Real demonstrated his expertise as he made sure the schedule of events, from the pick-up of the bride to the tea ceremony, proceeded on a timely basis.  However, when Miriam and Real arrived at the wedding venue, she was peevish and scolded her husband more than ten times.

Sobbing, Miriam said, “Today, my husband demonstrated that he is a public relations professional! From the morning through the evening, I felt like I was attending an ‘event!’ He kept urging me along and gave briefings all day. Today is a long time coming. In the beginning, I thought I will not be nervous, but that’s not the case. I could not just sit back and relax. I didn’t sleep until 3 a.m. and got up at 6 a.m. this morning.  I feel a little faint! During the photographs, Mr. Ting stepped on my wedding dress and his hand was so sweaty!”

Commitment to Not Fart in Bed

Seeing Miriam complain before the crowd, Real said, “I didn’t want the media to wait.”  (How are you going to make your wife feel better?) “I guess she is fainting because I didn’t sleep with her last night!”

Upon hearing this, Miriam yelled, “Drop dead jerk! (衰人去死啦) Oh sorry! I really appreciate Real in giving me this wedding. I know that Real and his ‘Resident Evil’ brothers filmed a video clip to be broadcast at the banquet. There are a lot of elders here tonight; I’m afraid the clip might be rated Category III. Hopefully when Real makes his groom’s speech, he will be sincere and not have a ‘chok’ expression. Hurry up and say what you have promised me!”

Real had a blank expression before he said, “I promise not to fart in bed under the blankets anymore!” (What other words of love did Real have to say?)  “In Miriam and my hearts, today should have arrived earlier. It is my fault in not being able to schedule the time earlier. Miriam, trust me, I will wholeheartedly take good care of you from now on!”

Although pretending that nothing had happened, Miriam was clearly affected by Real’s speech as her eyes became watery. When Real gave her a tissue, Miriam turned away and said, “Bye! Let’s see how people react after hearing what you said!” (Why was Miriam crying?) “I can’t hold back when we talk about these things. Before I met Real, I didn’t believe nor intend to get married. After meeting him, I got to know myself better. I didn’t hope to elevate my social status or have material gains. My main reason for getting married is that I have found myself.”

Upon hearing this, Real said, “It was right for me to marry you!” The bride and groom hugged and the scene was quite moving.

Jayne: Congratulations to Miriam Yeung and Real Ting! From their similar sense of humor, they appear to be a good match. I can not believe that Miriam told her husband to “die” at the wedding. Or that Real openly admitted to farting in bed!

Although the Sun estimates that Miriam’s wedding had a price tag of $20 million (HKD), allegedly she wore $17 million (HKD) in sponsored jewelry. Nevertheless, still an ultra-expensive wedding.

  1. I’m so happy for Miriam! Actually, I don’t really follow her career but I just think that she seems like a wonderful human being and I hope only the best for this couple.

They both seem VERY frank, lol.

  2. such an auspicious occassion..she shouldn’t said those words, its really not a nice thing to said to such a nice man!

    1. Why so series over the phrase?

She is just joking. 衰人 (sui yan) doesn’t mean asshole, it means more like ‘jerk, meanie’, in a teasing way. A lot of girls use this term at their boyfriends and friends.

The term ‘die, get lost’ Miriam used is just another funny couple banter.

      1. Oops typo. I mean serious.

Appropriate for auspicious event or not, Miriam and Real being the bride and groom certainly didn’t mind at all. Not everyone is superstitious. 🙂

      2. Sehseh, jerk would probably have been closer to what Miriam had said. While translating the article yesterday, it escaped me as to what the English equivalent should be. Thanks!

    1. I think that makes them real and pretty refreshing in the world of overdone media-saavy celebs. I didn’t think much of Real Ting at first and am a Miriam fan, but over time it does seem like they are a good match. I’ve watched an interview of them together which confirmed my opinion.

Anyway, congrats to both of them!

    1. I liked Cherie Ying’s cake more, which was decorated with red roses.

  3. Congrats to Miriam and Real! They are a good match, as both seem to have very bubbly, direct personalities. They seem very comfortable with each other, which is extremely important!

  4. I’m sorry but for a $20 mil wedding…it looks tacky! The cake is tacky, her elvis inspired hair-do is tacky, his tux is ultra tacky!!! Anywho, congrats!!!

    1. I agree with on the cake, her hair, and his tux..I wonder who did her hair…It is so ugly…..

      Congrats to both of them…..

    2. If you read the article, the buik of the money (18+ million) went on jewellery so this wedding wasn’t as expensive as it was made out to be. Surely it was mostly sponsored, if not all.

Congrats to the happy couple. They do look and seem very compatible with each other.

      1. Yes. Agree. Tacky. Her fashion stylists should be blamed for using her wedding to make a bold fashion statement instead of a moment she gets to remember for life.

  5. What is Real do for life?Does he an artist or businessman?Just curious…

  6. that has to be the plainest wedding cake i ever seen! My god, put some decorations on it!

  7. Perhaps they want a tacky wedding lol. BTW they are not a young couple. Atleast i know Miriam was 35yr old.

It wasn’t an expensive wedding because the Banquet Cost: $2.514 million (HKD) other jewerly probably sponsored or rent.
