Miss Hong Kong 2014 Conducts Interviews

Despite TVB’s attempts to keep first-round interviews for its Miss Hong Kong 2014 pageant under wraps, the press snapped photos of women meeting with the judges today.

To add freshness to its pageant this year, TVB Director of Production Sandy Yu (余詠珊) stated earlier that the candidates will not be revealed before the public until the semi-finals. As a result, the interviews were conducted outside of TVB studios and held at secret venues on Hong Hong Island instead. Since overseas recruitment for the pageant was not held this year, the candidates have to apply in person in Hong Kong.

The women spotted at the interviews were of mixed quality. Some of the more attractive candidates included an “innocent version of Cecilia Cheung (張柏芝)” known as Sabrina, who stood out  in a white dress that highlighted her pure looks. Hailing from Canada, Linda resembled Taiwanese screen siren, Kelly Lin (林熙蕾), and possessed the same confidence in showing off her good figure in a one-shoulder white dress. Appearing in a flowered dress, Yoyo came off with the same freshness as Taiwanese actress Michelle Chen (陳妍希).

A tanned candidate in a green dress, known as Christine, flashed her brilliant smile at the press. With mixed ancestry from Hong Kong and Scotland, Christine currently works as a model. A tattoo was observed by her right ankle.

Candidates with more voluptuous figures include a “Cass Phang (彭羚) lookalike” in a white dress and another mysterious woman in blue, who both declined to speak with the press.

  1. I guess most ppl would agree that past HK beauty pagents were more beautiful. I’m puzzled, where are the beautiful girls go to? We’ll never have Michelle Reis, Anita Yuen, Maggie Cheung, Myolie Wu, Charmaine Sheh just to name a few.

    1. Rebecca Zhu, Grace Chan, and Whitney Hui are all good looking IMO. And maybe a few more than I can’t think of atm.

  2. I actually really like Grace who won last year. She was a tad on the skinny side but she has a beautiful smile and I love her confidence. Let see if there is good quality this year.

    1. not to be mean but Grace do not have the best proportion to be consider as “beauty”. her head is larger than her body when she isnt wearing heels. kinda freaky. but yes, Grace is a bit more unique looking than other contestants for the round.

  3. Not bad looking, HK girls are getting better and better looking. Hong Kong contestants having a good chance of winning again.

  4. It is already a bad start that they are getting compared to others. Really? Could they not have written anything flattering about them without mentioning those people?

  5. So many pork chops this year. But I still wouldn’t mind dating one or two of them.

    Regards,
    sxc

    1. I think those pork chops are very toned and looking perfect. Are you even that toned yourself? bahhh

  6. Holding a designer shopping bag to the interview or to meet the press is tacky.

  7. With proper makeup and a makeover, they will usually look better. Paparazzi tend to like to take shots of them at their embarrassing moments.

  8. seriously all of these miss hong kong are not as pretty from last year’s miss hong kong 2013 like grace chan is so pretty and almost every one of all the girls that completed the event last year are so much better then the people above that had been taken a photo and is this years ‘miss hong kong 2014’! ! ! 🙂

  9. Her features quite like Indian where they have beautiful sharp features. Since I see Indians everyday so she doesn’t stand out to me. I mean her beauty has been “diluted” by the number of other beautiful Indian girls I see everyday. Prefer those who look more like Chinese rather than those of mixed origins.

    1. This message was meant as a reply on Grace Chan.

    2. Yea, I agree with you. Much prefer pure Chinese/East Asian looks.

There was one case where 1 Miss Chinatown had a non-Chinese/East Asian looking contestant (who claimed ‘mixed’ heritage) in it. In this case, obviously, she didn’t win.

  10. What are the paps doing? Trying to get an upskirt of the girl in blue?

  11. The one in the green dress looks ugly and old.

  12. why the reporters snapped the lower legs of blue short skirt girl…is it the reporter wants to highlight that her leg is thick, coarse and big size compare to our slim legs of wong cho lam?

  13. And then can tvb please bring the mr hong kong pageant back for the entertainment factor??

  14. The girl in blue looks like Andy Lau’s wife

  15. None of the inteviewees were “pretty” in a natural sense. These wannabes are painted with facial reconstruction and the need for materialistic rewards. Yuk and yawn! Another event that I will bypass again.
