Nancy Wu Will Not Let Boyfriend Propose To Her On Stage

Hong Kong’s newly awarded TV Queen Nancy Wu (胡定欣) said she will not let her boyfriend propose to her on stage, stressing that she wants to draw a clear line between work and privacy.

The 34-year-old recently attended a press conference for Sze U Tonight’s <今晚睇李> upcoming concert, in which Nancy will be a guest performer. Sze U Tonight was a TVB talk show hosted by Johnson Lee (李思捷) and Pal Sinn (單立文) from February to September 2015. The program, as well as hosts Johnson and Pal, respectively won My Favorite TVB Variety Program and My Favorite TVB Host in Variety Program at the 2015 TVB Star Awards Malaysia.

The upcoming concert will feature Johnson, Pal, and the Palwerful Band as the main performers. Nancy will be a guest performer with Pal’s wife, Paisley Hu (胡蓓蔚).

Nancy’s boyfriend of one year, musician Terry Chan (陳明道), will be performing at the concert as one of the band members. When the reporters requested the performers to take photos together, Terry purposefully stood further away from Nancy. Just as the reporters was about to ask Terry to take photos with Nancy, he quickly left the stage, leaving Nancy to deal with the reporters on her own. “I am too shy,” explained Nancy.

Asking if her boyfriend would use this opportunity to propose to her on stage, she said, “I will not allow that to happen! Work is work.”

Denies Being In Bad Terms with Tavia Yeung

Nancy and 2012’s TV Queen Tavia Yeung (楊怡) have been rumored to be in bad terms for many years. These rumors manifested when the two actresses were spotted giving each other disapproving looks during the live broadcast of the 2010 TVB Anniversary Awards. Both Nancy and Tavia have since denied the rumors, maintaining that they’re both friends.

“Those reports are not true,” said Nancy. “Tavia has always been very supportive of me. She gave me a lot of confidence this year, and we would occasionally message each other personally.” Have the rumors affected their friendship? “Not at all.”

Supports Power Chan

Earlier, there were reports claiming that TVB was undergoing a political change, thus forcing certain TVB artists to receive less work and promotion. Nancy does not believe in the reports. “All of us are working hard. And my schedule is fully booked until June of next year,” she added.

In regards to her frequent collaborator Power Chan (陳國邦), who will be returning to TVB next year to shoot a new sitcom, Nancy said, “I’ve read the news. I didn’t ask for details, but I do hope he is coming back. He’s an actor I respect very much.”

Many netizens said Power is “eating old grass” by going back to an old employer, but Nancy offered her full support to Power. “Don’t think like that. You go wherever the opportunity takes you. I hope he’ll lead a drama some day.”
