Nicky Wu and Cecilia Liu Share Wedding Photos

Nicky Wu (吳奇隆) and Cecilia Liu (劉詩詩) will be getting married in Bali on March 20. The Scarlet Heart <步步驚心> stars have already sent out their wedding invitations, beautifully-crafted cards encased in premium, hard slip-cases. On the card is an image of the Mulan flower—a symbol that represented their characters in Scarlet Heart.

Nicky and Cecilia confirmed their relationship in 2013, three years after the broadcast of their 2011 hit series, Scarlet Heart. In January 2015, the couple announced that they have officially registered their marriage. They secretly flew to New Zealand earlier this year to take their wedding photos.

The couple recently got together for a brief interview, talking and discussing about their life together. Nicky was asked about what he finds to be the most vital part of his wedding, to which he pointed at Cecilia and said, “A wedding can lack many things, but it definitely cannot lack this person.”

Gossip media often talk about the value of a celebrity’s engagement ring, but for Nicky, meaning is definitely more important than a price tag. On how he chose their engagement ring, he said, “I understand her personality. It’s not about the price or the size of the ring, however, the one thing I know I do not want is for her to make do. I want to give her a ring that is the purest of all.”

Cecilia: “He’s Responsible”

Though Nicky and Cecilia met on the set of Scarlet Heart in 2010, they did not start their relationship until the drama’s sequel Scarlet Heart 2 <步步驚情>, which was shot in 2013. Asking Cecilia what she liked about Nicky, she gave a pretty simple answer.

“He’s responsible,” she said. Nicky laughed out loud at her response. “What else? Say a few more words! If you can’t think of anything else, at least give me a few praises!” Cecilia then coneded, “I’ve always been rather forthright, but after being with him, I’ve learned how to slow things down a bit.”

Nicky, born in 1970, and Cecilia, born in 1987, are nearly 17 years apart, but despite the age difference, Nicky said Cecilia is quite mature for her age. “One of the most touching things about her is that, usually I am the one who is trying to calm her down, but when I am being the explosive one, she would become very grounded and reasonable. She really calms me down. It’s hard to come by someone who is like this.”

Communication and balance is key to a healthy relationship. Nicky expressed, “She has her ideas and I have my opinions, but we talk about them. After we are done expressing our own thoughts, then okay, that’s done. Knowing that we have different opinions on certain matters is really another way of getting to know each other more.”
