Summary (May contain spoilers. Read at your own risk!!)

The series is mainly based on weddings and there are different storylines. Mandy (Yoyo Mung)’s brother was getting married. The wedding was organised by Tim Jeh (Louise Lee) who was very experienced in organising traditional weddings. She worked in “Only You” owned by her brother Chai (Evergreen Mak) and his wife Phoebe (Kristal Tin). Due to the success of Mandy’s brother’s wedding, Mandy decides that she would like to be a wedding planner and starts her own business. However, her business was failing. Phoebe was looking for staff and she hires Mandy due to her talking skills. However, Tim Jeh did not have a good impression of Mandy and disliked her.

Summer (Kevin Cheng), was a photographer at “Only You.” He did not get along with Mandy and the two are always bickering. Tim Jeh starts to get on with Mandy knowing that she is hard working.

Mandy meets up with some old school friends and discovered that they are all married to rich men. She felt that she should also find a partner and Tim Jeh arranges some match making. When Mandy was invited to be a bridesmaid, she met Ashley (Joel Chan) who was wealthy and good looking. Mandy believed that Ashley has a crush on her. It turned out that Ashley was actually a bisexual and had used Mandy to keep his father happy.  Mandy was really upset.

Mandy soon develops feelings for Summer but his ex-girlfriend returns and the two were dating again. It turns out that Summer’s girlfriend already had a boyfriend back at home and left him once again.

Tim Jeh’s daughter Ching (Natalie Tong) has decided to get married and was returning to Hong Kong. However, the two do not get along since Ching finds her mother annoying and believes that she forced her father to leave the family. However, she discovered that her father left the family because he had met another woman. She felt very ashamed and upset on her wedding day and apologised to her mother.

Meanwhile, Summer and Mandy begin to develop feelings for each other and start dating. “Only You” is becoming a very successful business, and Mandy suggests that they open another chain called “Only Me and You” along with King (Chris Lai) and Erica (Elaine Yiu).  Mandy took the money that Summer gave her and invested in the new business. King and Elaine were going to get married but Elaine was really fussy over the wedding and keep altering her dress.

Ching learns that her father did not have an affair and leave the family for another woman. Instead, he just did not get along with her mother. She tries to convince her Tim Jeh to divorce her father but she refuses and was very angry with Ching. However, Tim Jeh realises that she must let go and agrees to divorce Ching’s father.

Summer decides to go travelling and does not want to focus on the new business. However, Mandy wants a more stable lifestyle and does not want to go travelling and leave the new business. The two begin to have problems and were arguing over their differences. King and Erica were taking photos for their wedding. On the day, a drugged driver was driving dangerously and killed King and Elaine. Everyone at “Only You” were really upset, but they agreed that they would organise a big wedding for the couple.

Summer and Mandy realise that if they love each other, they should be willing to sacrifice for each other. They agreed that they will start the business and once it is steady, they would go travelling together.

The series ends with Tim Jeh bumping into an old friend and they go shopping for wine.

Characters and Comments:

I quite like the cast of Only You and I think that the right actors and actresses were chosen. I was not really a Yoyo Mung fan before this series but I really liked her here. I did not realise that Yoyo could play such a funny character. I always got the impression that she plays dull and boring characters. This character was bad mouthed but was extremely funny. Just like a typical Hong Kong person. The chemistry with Kevin Cheng was definitely present. I quite like Kevin here too. A normal guy who likes photography and wants a simple life.

Another character I really liked was Phoebe played by Crystal Tim. I thought she did a great job in this series and had so much chemistry with Evergreen Mak. She did play the typical character of shop owner and making her business come first.

Louise Lee again did such a great job. The scene where Natalie and Louise were crying on her wedding day was truly touching, when Natalie realises that her mother just wanted the best for her.

I thought that the cutest couple in this series was Elaine Yiu and Chris Lai. They were so compatible together and looked really good together. It was such a shame that they were killed off.  Ruco Chan and Macy Chan were also a very cute couple. They looked really good next to each other. And finally Eddie Li and Leanne Li looked very good together, probably because of the height factor. They were another cute couple to watch.

Best Storyline

This series had so many storylines and they were all different genres. The storyline I enjoyed the most is the wealthy family’s wedding with Susan Tse. That storyline was really good and I really enjoyed it. The episodes about the Indian family were also very interesting too. It’s very different from other storylines and shows a traditional Indian wedding rather than a Chinese one.

Overall:

This series has so many different storylines and the themes of each storyline are very wide and varied. There are different types of weddings and many couples paired up in this series.  The cast is so big too. I really enjoyed the different storylines and some of them were just great to watch. Overall, this was a pretty good series. The ending was very dramatic and unpredictable with the death of King and Erica. That was totally unexpected and was very sad indeed. However, this series is definitely different in that it makes you laugh, cry, angry and happy.  Some of the storylines were not as good as others but due to the diversity of the storylines, there will be one that would suit you.

  1. I almost couldn’t recognise Kevin in the poster. But why the hat? Ordinary guy + photographer = wear a hat?

  2. This is really worth watching. I have finished watching it alr! Thumbs up!

  3. I actually enjoyed watching this series. Better than the other ones I’ve watched so far.

  4. there are some funny momments, overall it was ok. however, the ending was rather disappointing.

  5. This is a good drama, I enjoyed it.

I actually liked the ending though, shows the real perspective of life and teaches the word cherish.

  6. Mediocre series. Parts of the series is BORING.

  7. I wonder if Louise’s storyline in “Only You” is based on her real life relationship with her daughter?

Who plays Natalie Tong’s husband? I don’t think I’ve seen this guy before.

    1. The guy who plays Natalie’s husband is Alan Wan. I think it’s the first series he’s been in. He was one of the Mr. Hong Kong contestants, either from this years or last years.. dunt remember. I think he’s really cute, too bad his cantonese isn’t that good.

      1. I think Alan Wan is cute too. Haha thanks for the info about him.

      2. His canto is not “not that good”, it’s horrible, it’s like he’s speaking a different language…every hard to understand he ngup mut…they shouldn’t of cast him…he just made it awarkward…WHy does TVB like the foreigner comming back to Hk so much??? ARGGGG especially those that don’t speak good canto.!!!!!!

  8. I really like Only You, One of the sweetest TVB series I have ever watched. Love Yoyo Mung and Kevin Cheng. They have such great chemistry

  9. Part of the appeal in series such as “Only You” is that it is a feel-good series and while heart-warming and may have even induced some tears. However, 5 to 10 years from now, I doubt people will remember this series, as it was not truly ground breaking nor had new material.

That being said, Yoyo Mung suited the role perfectly. She always had a sharp tongue in previous collaborations with Bobby Au Yeung. Thanks to some snappy lines, her character came alive here.

I admit that I preferred watching “Only You” rather than “Grace Under Fire,” which was darker and slow-moving.

  10. Actually I find Eddie Li Yu Yang to be quite handsome. He has the strong, chiseled looks that resemble a leaner Jerry Yan. After his debut performance in Hearts of Fencing, I thought he would become bigger. Looks alone, he should have a big following if given bigger chances.

Did Eddie sign a management contract with TVB? Or he is still a part-time model?

Could it be that his acting is weak? Compared to Don Li, Lokyi, and Sam Chan, his acting is the weakest.

But, I was surprised that he was not further promoted after Fencing too. I thought Fencing was to promote these 4 guys and they did get an award for best ensemble cast.

  11. Overall, I enjoyed the series as it was very fun to watch, but yes, it’s not a classic that people will be talking about in years to come. I like the different love stories in the series and it was very lighthearted. And I thought the cast did a great job. I didn’t care for Kevin nor Yoyo as actors but I thought they had great chemistry here. And maybe Kevin should play more of these roles in the future since it’s hard to see him in a dramatic role, but I thought he did well in this series and he was likeable, as well as the rest of the cast.
I was very shocked with the ending when they decided to kill off Elaine and Chris-it was just so unexpected from a story that was happy and lighthearted from ch 1 until ch 30 up until that point. I understand that they wanted to send the message across of what love really meant and to cherish those around you. I also understand that it’s a part of life that people might die in a tragedy and not everyone will have a happy ending like most of the couples in the series. But I wished that they could have died in a less “graphic” manner? It’s ok to kill off their characters and I understand the message that they are trying to get across, but hasn’t TVB learned by now that HK audiences can’t accept scenes like that? It’s nothing compared to US standards because I have no problem watching shows like Dexter and stuff. But I knew when I saw that scene that there will definitely be complaints, and of course there was on Monday’s news headlines knowing that HK audience like to complain over EVERYTHING.
But, with exception to that ending that just didn’t seem to fit in with the rest of the series’ mood, I enjoyed the series overall.

Haha. How many series we remember 5 to 10 years from now.

  13. Good comedy, one that really makes me laugh. The ending was good to me. Something different. When nothing unexpected = boring, something unexpected = complain. Can’t please everyone but Chris and Elaine acted the death scene well cause it stirred emotions. Just my opinion.

    1. I agree that that kaka and King’s dying scene acted well. But seriously I hated the ending, though it was unexpected i think its just to tragic and too much…. the whole purpose was to get summer and mandy back together but seriously? lol I think the ending coulda been better different. I thought it was terrible. It’s like happy happy 😀 than BAM. it was like wtf?

  14. Who is Erica? You mentioned Erica a few times, do you mean Kaka? I don’t remember Elaine Yiu having a name called Erica. o.o

    1. I only know 1 Erica in TVB – the girl who left TVB to ATV and always spoke something about TVB and Tracy Ip. Erica Yuen.

    2. Wikipedia states that Elaine Yiu’s character’s name is Erica.

  15. personally I don’t like this series,,, maybe Yoyo’s is over acting, and I don’t like it,,,but I am really enjoy Elaine and King,

  16. I enjoyed this series. Yes it’s not a classic but it’s definitely one of those feel good and romantic type. The characters are well developed and all of them are given time to shine.

Yoyo is excellent in this role. The rest of the cast are good too eg Kevin, Louise Lee, Kristal, Evergreen and the guest stars like Ruco, Macy.

Like the rest, I was shocked at the sudden deaths of Elaine and Chris Lai. I was half wondering if I clicked on the wrong fan made video.

Overall, it’s a good series. It’s much much better than Grace Under Fire and in fact better than The Rippling Blossom imo.

  17. I think that this is the best series so far this year, it’ll definately not be the best one, but it was a change to all the dramatic drams that came out this year so far. It was by far, WAY BETTER that Rippling. BUt like all TVB dramas they have thier flaws, they had some pointless parts and parts that were sooo BORING…
But when it comes to the acting, they cast all good actors…and older ones too, you kinda get tired of all those young fadans. Yoyo was excellen in her role, she really shows the typical HK girl inside of her. THis was by far her best performance in my opinion. And she had great chemistry with everyone in the cast. My favorite character was all Phoebe…played by Kristal Tin. I loved how her character always was forgetting things and acting all “stupid”, but in reality had a way of controlling her husband and company…hehehe, and she had great chemistry with Evergreen Mak. I would like to see her in more comedy series, I mean she had a big comedian as her husband, she’s bound to learn something 😛

  18. The series suck, typical TVB boring drama.

  19. Usually I find TVB dramas so boring but this was so good! I loved the dialogue between the characters of the drama. There was lots of chemistry too! I’ve been trying to find the names of the two Indian guys’ (Ah Gill and Peter). If anyone knows their real names, please let me know! Thanks 🙂

    1. Ah Gill is Kiu Bo Bo , he’s been in quite a few series. I’m also curious who played Peter.

I enjoyed the little wedding stories. Quite lighthearted, especially the Indian wedding one. Since it was different and showed more about Indians living in Hong Kong as citizens.

I also have to admit that the ending could’ve been better, killing Kaka and King in the middle of nowhere. Seems unrealistic really. For some reason I thought Kaka was going to get run over by the bus that they were waiting for until I saw the drunken driver lol

I also quite liked Yoyo in this series, much better than her usual characters. Didn’t really like the Yoyo and Kevin pairing though. Nor did I like Kevin and his ex gf. Her accent still makes me cringe and she always looks like she’s 12 ><"

  20. I really enjoyed watching this series which was worth waiting for. The short stories of the various couples were refreshing and some, very touching. There was one that even gave me the creeps. In other words, they conveyed many different kinds of emotions. I thought the casting was excellent and that most played their parts well. YoYo was quite super in her role. She scolds most convincingly but can be gentle and kind too besides, I like her being paired off with Kevin who was convincing in his role too. The other very likeable charaters are Cristal, Evergreen, Louise, Chris Lai and Natalie, to mention a few. I also thought that Alan Wan was very cute. I think TVB purposely chose an actor whose Cantonese was not quite the Hong Kong one because he is supposed to have been a ‘foreigner’ from Australia. As for the ending, I really don’t quite know how I would have reacted if I had not already known it before I watched the series. It would have certainly given me a shock, I suppose, and normally, I would have been not only sad but resentful that such loveable people like Chris and Elaine should die. On second thought, however, such unexpected accidents do happen in real life and it does make us realize how much we should appreciate and cherish our loved ones. That point was driven home very clearly. Good show!

  21. Ok, off topic, but I would definitely like to read a review for Grace Under Fire when it finishes. Its such a boring series… I’ve been tricked!

  22. Love Kevin and Yoyo. Great series too! Kevin has improved so much when he cry

  23. I loved this series! My favorite couple was Chris and Elaine, but I was so sad when they died. My second favorite couple was Rucco and Macy. I think their story was the most interesting for me to watch.

  24. i loved this series…kevin and yoyo just so much chemistry…love them in this series…
