Philip Ng Films TVB Drama with Ruco Chan

It’s official – Linda Chung‘s (鍾嘉欣) boyfriend, Philip Ng (伍允龍), confirmed that he will be filming his first TVB period drama. Philip shared his new TVB identification card on his social media account today.

Skilled in a wide range of martial arts forms, Philip has starred in and choreographed the action stunts for several Hong Kong movies. Currently managed by Wong Jing (王晶), Philip’s film career is on the rise. Since 2013, reports were abuzz that Philip will collaborate with TVB, although final negotiations only clinched recently.

Philip’s new TVB drama in tentatively titled Hero Within the City <城寨英雄>, which will also star Ruco Chan (陳展鵬), Nancy Wu (胡定欣), and Grace Wong (王君馨). Used to performing action scenes in movies, Philip looks forward to filming martial arts scenes for the new drama.

Initially, it was rumored that Linda Chung (鍾嘉欣) came up with the idea for the storyline and was supposed to be the lead female actress in martial arts series. However, her role later went to good friend Grace Wong instead. It is speculated that Linda purposely dropped out of the dream to avoid generating unnecessary gossip.

The producer for Hero Within the City, Jazz Boon (文偉鴻) clarified that Linda’s name was never on the cast list to begin with. Jazz stated that any reports claiming Linda would work with Philip in the drama were false.

  1. I hope this is true. Ruco hasn’t filmed anything after Captain of Destiny. He is currently 1 of TVB’s hottest male leads and he’s good in action dramas as well with his swift moves, athletic and lean physique. Plus he’s totally eye candy !!! He did say he’ll be filming a new drama towards end of the year. Is this the one?

  2. Plus he currently is attending some martial arts class as well…someone who attended the same class as Ruco posted a couple of pix on Weibo…

  3. Wow! Can’t wait to see Ruco and Nancy’s chemistry together! Tvb better make sure Nancy is the main female lead k…..

  4. At least Ruco is in something soon, right?

“It is speculated that Linda purposely dropped out of the dream to avoid generating unnecessary gossip.”

WAIT! This is just a dream? So the news is not real?

    1. @funnlim
The cast is real. Ruco, Philip , Nancy and Grace. The only part that is not real is anything involving Linda. Reporters just use her name for gossips. Linda already clarified she was never involved in this drama.

      1. @jay08: where did you read about this drama/cast? I can’t wait to see Ruco in another drama…it’s been dry spell for many of his ardent fans since Eye in the Sky finished its run in March. Looks like TVB is hoping to cash in on the gossip between Ruco/Phil/Linda and deliberately casting the 2 guys together. I really hope Ruco shines again like how he usually does in all his dramas…

      2. @lml1977 The news is everywhere on Weibo. Anyways, tomorrow will have press conference for the drama and all the cast will be there. Ruco, Nancy and Philip. U will see it in all newspapers tomorrow.

      3. @jay08: Thanks Jay!! I saw the video clip on reporters interveiwing both Ruco and Philip. Ruco is so savvy with his answers and even added a touch of humor. He was so composed. Philip on the other hand seems like a nervous wreck when asked about Linda. He looked totally uneasy and unnatural….

  5. Dislike Philip Ng’s look. In TBB, he will forever work under the shallow of Linda, gossip that he has to rely on his gf to get the chance won’t stop.

    1. @66ksc
Agree with you regarding his looks. He can be considered good looking guy, but there’s a certain vibe from that is unattractive….

    2. @66ksc His thick eyebrows are throwing me off lol. People are giving Linda way tooooo much credit. Does she really have the ability to pull this kind of strings and give her bf a job in TVB? How silly lol.

    3. @66ksc: Agree that many others will find him good looking…but Philip’s jawline is kinda squarish and a little too chiselled for my liking. Or perhaps I’m too obsessed with Ruco. Can’t get enough of Ruco. This guy can do no wrong in my eyes…

  6. Ruco and Philip will always be compared once they act tog. It will be unfair to Ruco as Philip is a martial arts expert while Ruco is only an amateur in this kungfu based drama.

    1. @rucolove: Yeah…i feel the same way too. Ruco and Philip will be compared. Ruco will shine through his acting. He’s currently taking some martial arts class so I hope the HK audience will give him credit for his hardwork and how he takes his job seriously. Btw, can this Philip act? Haven’t seen any of his movies…

  7. From above comments, Philip obviously lacks the charisma and attraction to viewers, or what we call audience fate. Heard that his acting is not so good either. Personally, I watch dramas mainly for story and acting, not action scenes or martial arts which are only bonus.
