Preparing for Hospital Release, Andy Lau Renovates Home to Be Wheelchair Accessible

Notorious for being a career-focused and hardworking actor, Andy Lau (劉德華) sustained a serious pelvic injury while filming a commercial on horseback in Thailand. Due to the magnitude of fractured bones around the pelvic region and a number of strained muscles and tendons, the 55-year-old actor is currently bed-bound and will remain in the hospital for eight weeks. Following his hospital release, it is estimated that he will need an additional six to nine months of treatment and therapy to fully recover.

Currently on bedrest, Andy has reportedly gained more than ten pounds and spends the majority of his time watching television. Upon his release from the hospital, which will take place in March, Andy will have to be in a wheelchair temporarily. Due to his compromised mobility, renovations are currently underway at his luxury mansion to construct ramps and hand rails.

A firm believer in Chinese osteopathy and medicine, Andy allegedly refused the doctor’s recommendation to get a cast. Instead, he plans to seek treatment from his long-time bonesetter. To speed up his recovery, Andy also reportedly plans to take herbal medicines to help in the healing of his strained muscles and tendons. Due to his hardworking nature, perhaps Andy hopes to speed up his recovery process.
