Since their love sparked in 2009, Race Wong (黃婉佩) and Jacky Heung (向佐) went through numerous obstacles to be together. It was reported that Race put an extensive amount of effort to please Jacky’s mother, Mrs. Heung. Although Race had succeeded in satisfying Mrs. Heung, their relationship still ended due to Race’s wish for marriage.
Mrs. Heung Was Unwilling to Accept Relationship
A member of music group, 2R, Race Wong met Jacky Heung, son of film producer Charles Heung (向華強) while learning Japanese in 2009. At that time, Race was still in the midst of divorcing her ex-husband in Singapore, Chan Ching Kai (陳靖諧). Due to her unclear marital status, Jacky’s mother, Mrs. Heung did not acknowledge Race as Jacky’s girlfriend and indicated to the media that they were just friends. Mrs. Heung held a tough stance and emphasized, “Being clear of one’s status is critical!”
Race Changes to Please Mrs. Heung
In order to please Mrs. Heung, Race quickly proceeded with her divorce with Chan Ching Kai. Soon after, she enrolled in business school, hoping to provide a fresh image. In recent years, under the arrangement of Mrs. Heung, Race has been working at a securities company. With the efforts made by Race, she slowly gained Mrs. Heung’s acceptance.
Race Pressures Jacky for Marriage
As Race is turning 30 years old next month, she has reportedly started to pressure Jacky into marrying her. It was rumored that this caused animosity in their relationship.
An insider revealed that Race had hoped for marriage. Race’s sister and 2R member, Rosanne Wong (黃婉君) got married in 2009. Seeing Rosanne’s happy marriage and the birth of her baby, Dylan, Race wished for the same happiness. Because of this, she had pressured 27-year-old Jacky to marry her.
However, Mrs. Heung had alternate plans for her son. She hoped for him to focus on his filming career. Two years ago, Mrs. Heung set out a 10-year plan for Jacky, which did not allow for her beloved son to marry within those years!
Jacky Breaks Up With Race
Not wishing to get married, Jacky painfully broke up with Race. Despite Race’s pleas, Jacky was determined to end the relationship. Rumors arose that Jacky was too young for marriage and that he respected his mother’s wish to focus on his filming career.
Publicly, Jacky even changed his status on Facebook from “stabled relationship” to “single”.
Devastated from the breakup, Race became emotional and posted an online message earlier stating, “Heaven is crying!”

Reading how Mrs Heung made 10 year plans for a 27 year old Jacky reminded me of my ex’s. Even worse was my ex’s mom controlled his finances at his age of 30 years old! He was 30 and not 13, learn to be independent and grow some backbones!
Race should just opt out now since he’s not ready to marry her and is following his mummy’s plan. There’s no use for a pretty Race to continue stressing over this unfruitful relationship. It also seems that the less prettier sister had a happier marriage.

Of course I didn’t ask, but a few years is enough to experience life with a mummy’s boy who keep promising they will grow up but in the end continue being a dependent mummy’s boy who love to live in their mom’s bosom and never grow a real backbone as promised.

Given Race questionable past, it is understandable that she has to work hard to gain her future (now ex) in-law’s trust.
I search for news of Jacky Heung during the time I watch AFOS and found articles about him and Race and then article about Race. According to the articles, Race has married her ex husband when she was still quite young (16 iirc) and has not entered the entertainment industry. It’s her ex-husband who financed her music career and also bought a house in HK for her sister and her to stay. She kept her marital status quiet all these years. And she dated Jacky while she’s still married.
I can understand why she has much to prove to Mrs. Heung.

If you are the mom, what would you feel if your son never listen to you? Spare a thought for the mom, those labeling him as a mummy boy, for you guys are not much of a mom yourselves.
A mother surely does what she thinks best for her son, though the decisions might not best for every parties involved.

This 10 year plan was not a new thing. Jacky talked about it last year and Mrs.Heung also mentioned it in an interview. Race was around at the time (Race, Jacky and his parents were participating in and event). So, Race already knew of this plan. At that time, I remember thinking to myself, in 10 years, Race will be nearly 40, can she wait that long? I guess Race thought at the time that she can changed Jacky’s and his mother’s mind later or maybe her urge to marry has come yet at that time.
Looking from another angle, it may be a good decision that Jacky broke off with her if he couldn’t commit. Didn’t many say Lynn Xiong shouldn’t waste her time on commitment phobic Aaron? Same in this case, if Jacky can’t marry in 10 years and Race wants children, it might be better for her to not waste her time and find another guy who is willing to walk down the aisle with her and start a family with her.
