Raymond Lam Buys 6 Designer Bags for Karena Ng in Paris

When they are able to take off work for a few days, Raymond Lam (林峯) and girlfriend Karena Ng (吳千語) enjoy going on luxurious vacations together. Raymond is a generous boyfriend and often drops his credit cards down during their expensive shopping trips. In August, the couple flew to Paris, France where Karena bought a total of six designer bags within five minutes in a single shopping trip.

Karena Embarrasses Herself With Sales Associate

Since discontinuing his management contract with TVB, the  Line Walker <使徒行者> star has been enjoying greater freedom in his work schedule, allowing Raymond to spend more time with Karena. The couple flew to Paris earlier for a shopping spree.

Although Karena was in a foreign country, she seemed to have forgotten that there was a language barrier with the local sales associate. After asking the sales associate to take out different colored designer bags, Karena took one and then asked the sales associate, “Does this look good on me?” in plain Cantonese. A shopper who was near Karena at that time laughed at the actress’ slip of tongue.

Both fans of designer labels, Raymond happily paid for Karena’s shopping expenses in Paris. The six bags that Karena chose were estimated to have cost approximately $600,000 HKD.

Asked to comment on the couple’s shopping spree in Paris, Karena’s manager responded, “In August, [she] was working in Mainland China and Hong Kong and did not go to Paris. This is not the truth.” However, it was discovered that Raymond and Karena left Hong Kong in August. While Raymond spoke about the couple’s vacation in Tokyo at an earlier promotion, he did not mention Paris.

    1. Show off???…did they hold a press conference to announced how they spend?…NO! and it’s Raymond $…he can buy whatever he want. It’s so tacky when pp criticize other pp spending habits…worry about your own wallet.

      1. It’s my comments and I can say whatever I want! Please save your opinions elsewhere. I’m pretty sure you are LF’s fan.

      2. Raymond is not showing off. For the money he spent, he could have donate to more needy people. It’s just sad to see some can waste it on unnecessary material items when others expecially children suffer from hunger.

      3. If it’s not showing off, why bother to buy branded stuff that cost so much money?! That’s exactly my opinion about how the money should be spent on!

      4. yes…they did not mention they went to Paris…what kind of show off…only the reporters like to report those stuff…also..no picture…no sales record…how do i know if it is true or not!
Also…Raymond can buy whatever he want!

    2. @Tess

It runs much deeper than showing off. This man is va yay yay whupped. If I bought my wife 6 designer bags when she was Karena’s age, she would have kept one, ask me to take the others back and donate the money to one of the many charities and organizations my relative financially support.

    3. Exactly, Andrew!! Even if they don’t wish to donate it, they could have bought something more worth the money! Fashion is in one day and out another day.

    4. Lol, they probably will! They already bought like 2 or 3 cards and rented 2 apartments.

I can see him buying her a mansion in the near future.

    5. Raymond’s family donate $ to build school in China…also, he always ask his fans no to buy him any gift…just donate the money to charity

      1. lol but Raymond is rich his dad a big business man in china.

    1. That’s like 3 years of college tuition for me what the heck..

  1. Every year, my wife and I donate money to charities in Hong Kong and Asia in general. We figure why spend money on the overpriced so called couture designer products.

    1. What’s the point of you telling us you and wife donate money to charities? Are you implying you guys are good people/better than everyone else simply you donate to charities and do charity work? It’s quite tacky to brag about how much you have helped others, if the only reason you’re doing it is to fish for complements or make yourself look good.

      1. exactly, Im sure LF donate enough $…he make his $…he can spend whatever he want.

    2. Andrew,
“It’s just a way to show off and annoy the general public.”

Raymond and Karena are not the only celebrities who like designer labels. Why should it annoy the public how they choose to spend their money? Chilam Cheung and Aaron Kwok drive luxury cars, and Huang Xiaoming purchased a Lamborghini for Angelababy. If celebrities make incomes much higher than normal people, then they can afford more luxurious lifestyles and gifts for their loved ones.

Raymond seems to truly adore Karena and sees nothing wrong to buy some items that they both love together. There’s more to their relationship than just money…so why the repeated gold-digger label?

    3. Hi Jayne:

I believe the general public will be annoyed by their lavish shopping habits simply because the general public can’t afford it.

As much as I know, after Huang bought the car, he was criticized on Weibo. Angela’s weibo has many negative comments.

Some celebrities can afford it and certainly will buy it. But not everybody can.

    4. As for the repeated label, even the media believes she is a gold-digger and hence there is that repeated label.

A celebrity can make a lot of money but they certainly don’t have to buy a lot of brands. Chow Y. Fat is a perfect example. He is a lot more wealth than Uncle Ray but is praised for being humble, modest, and living “the average Joe” lifestyle.

If he can, why can’t others follow suit? Is purchasing the luxury brands a desire for face? Desire to show-off? Desire to make the public admire themselves? I certainly believe so.

    5. @Jayne

I see absolutely nothing wrong with a man adoring his wife or girlfriend, and if he has the money, why not buy her extravagant gifts as a token of his and appreciation… That all good. However, it seems like Karena keeps taking, and taking and he keeps giving, and giving. It clearly is begining to look like this relationship is about Raymond being her sugar daddy.

Yes, Chilam bought his sivegifts, and Angelababy got an expensive cut do you you see these men giving their women repeated ger, and over again in a matter of twelve months. I don think they will take them. They will tell them lovingly to spend the money on something else, at least Anita would. At this rate, Karea could open a bag, clothes and jewellery store. Don’t get me wrong, I have nothing against their relationship, and have been in some drag down battles defending them, but there are many question marks that are beginning to show. I don’t idol worship and will comment and not condone.

    6. @Jayne: I believe next time you can try to avoid those news. There are more news about LF to translate than this type of news. Not only him but also other artists, there travelling and shopping news do not have any information.

I have to say that this type of news only can generate same people with same comments repeating the same parodies. Therefore, in order to avoid all the similar war, you would better take your time to translate something else. It at least can reduce some unnecessary comments although we all know that those people will keep repeating the rants in every single topics, relevant or not.

  2. If these reports aretrue, the I have to admit that Karena is nothing more than a gold digger. SOMETIMES THE MEDIA CHOOSES TO DESTROY COUPLES AND INDIVIDUALS WITH LIES, SO I AM REALISTIC TO THAT. if THESE REPORTS are true, karena needs to put her foot down about the amount of designer bags he is buying her. This is greedy selfish behaviour on her part, and that would mean she is in this relationship for the money and material gifts. If true, all that money spent on handbags can feed some poor countries, cause she would have about 100 designer bags by now. I am cool with them both, but if these allegations are true, this is beyond, stupid on his part, and gold digging on hers. I have to be realistic and not ignore this.

    1. Why it is anyone business how much Raymond spend on her or how much she or him spend on hand bags? They both work hard for their $ and they can spend on what they like. Do you give a lot to charity?…or spend on clothing, brand name or even eat out?…why don’t you be frugal and send some of your $ to help some of the poor countries you clearly feel so bad about.

      1. Littlegal

Well excuse me forgiving my honest opinion. Obviously you did not read my earlier post, or you cannot read. Your comment smacks of anger and the lack of the ability to understand. Did you not read where I said we donate?. My family has donated millions of dollars over the years in Asia. What does eating out has to do with anything.

      2. Totally agree with Trini! Everybody is subjected to their own opinions.

      3. Your comment is ridiculous babbling. You are tripping. It makes no sense or is not relevant to anything I said. Dropped out of school at 10?.I think so. I have defended Ray and Karena countless times, but there are people suffering , even in HK and all they can do is shop, shop, shop?>It is past the point of insanity. I have no knowledge of her donating anything to anyone. I know it is his money but enough is enough. She is showing signs of being a material girl and gold digger. THAT IS THE COLD TRUTH.

      4. I want to reply to the comment above.

Well said Trini, clap, clap! One with crystal clear eyes.

As far as I know, they don’t donate often to charity.

The times I recall them donating is for the Ice Bucket Challenge for a grand total of $200 USD (yes, spare change compared to what they spend on trips and hermes!).

This is absolutely ridiculous and again shows the world what a fake pair of hypocrites they are.

      5. Agree with Tess’s comment.

Everybody is entitled to their own opinion.

If you believe Trini or other’s comments are bad, you need to go to Weibo. There are a lot more haters there.

    2. instead of wasting time commenting on what some famous person did, why don’t you go to africa and help people there if you care so much.

      1. I’m a caring person. Like you, I have helped a lot people in my life. You not the only one who’s capable of helping. Chill and don’t get so denfensive.

      2. Trini: I thought about going to Africa and help those I need of helping.

  3. rich guy spending money on his girl isn’t really news to me

  4. Would these celebs be shocked if a girl preferred a $60 rather than a $60,000 bag? Raymond is either stupid or just naive to find a woman like this..

  5. I don’t see how someone can know so much details on their private trip unless they were in the store with them like seriously?

Besides even if it’s true, I don’t see a problem with it, it’s not our money they can buy whatever they want. Just because she may of bought quite a few designer bags it does not label her as a gold digger. It’s not our say to how they should spend their money.

    1. A lot of the time the sale associate at the store will sell the news to the press. Many press have “insider” at airport, luxury stores, hotel, hospital etc…this is how paparazzi show up or get the news very fast.

    2. It doesn’t necessarily mean it’s true and I’m not a fan but I’m not a hater either.

I don’t see anything wrong with their shopping habits if the report is true. And for the charity thing just because they don’t publish it doesn’t necessarily mean they don’t donate. I donate my fair share but I don’t share that donation to the whole world nor post about it on social media. The money I donate is between me and the organization…it’s private and true some people especially celebrities do publicize their donations but it doesn’t necessarily mean every one of them should. Besides they don’t need to prove to anyone they’re a good person or even brag about it, and this doesn’t apply to just Raymond but everybody. And besides since when does it make them bad people if they don’t donate? The hunger issue in Africa will continue to exist no matter how much money they donate besides money is not answer to that problem.

  6. @TESS

Sorry Tess that comment was meant for @LITTLEGALPAL, not you. I am with you.
The comment where the little girl commented about saying how she can say whatever shewants.

AGAIN SORRY TO @TESS,COMMENT WAS NOT MEANT FOR YOU

    1. Hi Trini,

No worries, I’m not like those childish commenters that love to bombard ppl’s opinions just because they are infatuated with some celebs! I agree with you too! 😉

      1. I don’t even like LF but I stand by my opinion that judging one spending habit is tacky. If I work hard for my $, who are you to judge on how I spend my $ and just because someone have a different opinion than you, do not label them as childish.

      2. You can say all you want and we can too! If you don’t agree with what we said just voice your own opinion and not criticizing others! Humility goes a long way…

  7. Almost every article about Karena implies that she’s a gold digger. The papaz must hate her, or is there some truth to it? Hmmm

    1. Hannah, there is truth to it. The media does dislike them but if there’s no truth to it, they wouldn’t act like this for so long. They probably would’ve brushed off her gold digger background and praised them.

  8. It is funny to see some people get so angry and jealous over this. The dude worked hard for his money so he can use it whichever way hey like, if that is spending a little bit to make his girl friend happy then so be it.

    1. @Tom: Easier said than done :). If someone can go chok and earn as much as LF, they wont go here to rant in million posts with plain jealousy.

  9. why did he choose a girl that was so materialistic? they just don’t care about the value of a dollar simply bc they make so much money. its a sad world when we give celebrities so much earning power over everyday regular folks who work much harder in laborous jobs, its easy to see why their behavior is frowned upon. they waste money simply bc they have it. better use of this money is to help hungry children all over this world rather than spend it on a useless bag to show off one’s own vanity.

  10. Anytime we see an article like this, We will see some saints on earth who crying for Africa children or poor people. However it’s an ugly truth that most of them have never give a penny to donate or go to anywhere to do charity while the people they cricitize donated million and built 7 schools for poor children or went to do charities in underdeveloped places.

I dont care if they say they did. Dare to show the charity certificates online and then I will believe. If not, hypocrite, liar, etc. whatever you say will come back to you.

Who need to care for others’ money? Jealous bitter fangirls.

  11. When you are celebrity than you are a public figure – people are watching almost your every move. He should know by now that is he dating a material girl. She probably is a very shallow person. I hope their relationship will last. Some rich people they know how to spend money, enjoy themselves and it’s nothing wrong with that, but they also know how to use their celebrity status to help the less fortunate people without having to use their own money (sometimes). They loan their names for good causes – for example like Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt. By doing that they can help people and help themselves (win-win situations). I think they are very smart because they are making themselves look very good.

    1. Unfortunately they don’t use their social status in a meaningful and helpful cause.

I see some celebrities going to Africa to so charity work but once they have time, they go to JAPAN AND PARIS.

Goes to show how shallow they are right?

As for whether their relationship will last or not, the only thing I care is for them to move to China and the HK media can stop reporting them then.

  12. Dumd post and remark here… if a person earn 10 mil and donate 1 mil.. its equivalent to 10% donated.. what’s wrong spending 600k on bags.. Most post here are envy post.. coz ur not able to earn that much? when u cant finish ur food ppl say waste bla bla bla.. people in Africa no food to eat.. 1st of all.. do u donate to Africa in first place? some people force to finish end up spending more go weight loss.. if you want fair go to north korea, under communist ruling where everyone is equal.. u can eat McDonalds but someone is always poorer who eat only bread and say by eating Mcdonald I can buy books for my kids.. You manage ur own life, time and money and its up to urself how its spend. DO NOT SET UR SELF AS STANDARD FOR PEOPLE TO FOLLOW.. who are u to manage people money? take example.. uncle know china doll waiting to cheat money.. so be it.. money is not important so long I got companion.. better than go home give wife nag.. coz human today put MONEY at no 1…

    1. Yes, a correct comment! I witness many keyboard heroes keep saying about Africa and donation but when a beggar comes to them, they treat him like invisible. Merely keyboard heroes aka internet trolls.

Generally, my money, my way to spend. I dont feel jealous at your money, why you have to feel jealous at mine. He has the money, he enjoys it in whatever manner he wants. And out of all, he donated quite a lot to build 7 schools for poor children in China, did a lot of charity activities and urged his fans to donate. So what do they want? Perhaps they want some money from him but unfortunately, they cant have, therefore they got mad :P.

  13. Ray Ray can afford them, so why not!! she is a gold digger.
