Raymond Lam: “Karena Ng Inspires Me!”
After leaving the TVB nest last year, Raymond Lam (林峯) focused his efforts on his music career and filming in Mainland. With more freedom to regulate his own schedule, the 36-year-old learned to stop being a workaholic and instead focus on enjoying his life.
“Before, my life consisted only of work. Even if they gave me a day off, I wouldn’t know what to do. People say that we should work more and make more money while we’re young so we don’t have to fret [about money] when we’re older. I don’t agree with this. By the time I’m older, I wouldn’t have the energy or motivation [to vacation]! At that time, how will I go skydiving? How will I go scuba diving?”
With this new mindset, Raymond makes sure to take breaks in between filming and go on vacation with his girlfriend, Karena Ng (吳千語). Raymond shared that while the couple would choose a destination together, Karena usually plans the trips. “This is her strength. I don’t have the patience to research these things online and I am not as good as her when it comes to planning. We would go ice skating on a frozen lake. We’ve also gone canoeing for seven or eight hours and got sun burned. But this is part of the enjoyment of a vacation.”
Despite the public scrutiny about their 14-year-age gap, the couple remains in a stable and loving relationship. Being deemed as a diamond bachelor, Raymond does not feel like he is missing out on other dating opportunities. “I don’t think about things like that. It’s very precious when you are able to meet someone whom you are compatible with and are on the same frequency. Karena has inspired me in many ways! It’s not about giving up other prospective girls, but about finding someone you are compatible with and walking your life’s path with them.”

in a life time there are tons of “what if”. If he didnt meet her, if he didnt go first step, if he isnt rich, if she is a millionaire, etc.. Each “if” will carry a path. A path is stepped in by them and they are going on it. There is no more “if” when they are happy with the chosen path. Happiness is the Best thing. Why dont we look at the possitve side instead of thinking it negatively?
I met him recently and when someone said anything about his gf, he smiled sweetly. Happiness in his eyes. I met her As well and when saying about him, she also had that happy look. It makes me believe in a True love between them. I can know how happiness shown into face of lovers because it is how I Iook at my husband and so does him.
He wont get poor, so we wont never know how she reacts when he is poor as a cat. But they dont build their relationship based on money because in fact, he never needs to worry that he cant find a gf. So if he doesnt love her, she could be dumped easily.
Life is short. Money can be earned anytime. Spend it the way make you happy. If you Spend all your youth to earn money, when you are old, how can you enjoy life?
@alluka agreed. Although I found it weird that Raymond would date someone so young, Karena has proven that she is mature. You can tell by the way she handles those q&a that reporters constantly throw at her. And to be frank, it’s not like raymond doesn’t have his choice in pick of ladies around him. Karena is frankly not even gorgeous…in comparison to some of the ladies Raymond works with. But still, he’s with her and he seems to be happy with her. And she, him. Maybe money was a factor, but it’s hard to say.
@coralie In person, I think Karena is gorgeous despite a fact that she is too slim. She isnt photogenic at all. She has dynamic look and friendly smile a lot.She talks with manner, too.
I met several ladies working with him, Karena, in person, is one of the prettiest. Even my friend who doesnt like her at first, after see her in person also said that she looks so pretty. And she suits all of his requirements for look of a girl. This is why I knew that he would be attracted by her when they have just collaborated and havent dated yet. After that, he proved I was right.
Money is a factor to all relationship. We cant live without money. However, it is just a minor factor, the most important thing is happiness. Im pretty sure that she is not all for his money. I knew one of his ex has been dumped immediately when he revealed that she dated him partly for his money.
@alluka yes I saw the movie she was in, hotel something, a long time ago and I thought she actually looked quite nice onscreen. But because photographs always make her look terrible, I can’t tell if she only looked good in that movie because she had a lot of makeup on and her real face is actually…not that attractive. But I don’t know. Aesthetically speaking, there are a ton of beautiful ladies that Raymond works with who photographs well and looks great in films. He isn’t short on options. So regardless, I think he’s still serious about Karena.
And yes, money is a factor…but I mean, is it THE biggest factor, is what I should’ve emphasised.
@coralie I dont keep the link but recently, she was in a clip with their common friend Tian Yo without any makeup on face and I was surprise at her real face. So fresh and pretty. Maybe it is the different in view :). She looks pretty in person, it is my opinion. Actually both of them look not good on photos. He is also unphotogenic. Lolz, my friend who is not a fan said in her first time meeting him that he looks gorgeous but when she took pictures and look into the camera, she said that it lost at least 60% of the handsomeness.
For other girls he worked with, I think some looks great in films after makeup with without makeup or less makeup, they looks unattractive. I dont say that they are not beautiful but the makeup really makes wonder. Im sorry fans in advance but for example, Linda is a person who look great in photos and series, but in person when she wears less makeup, she is unattractive with bad skin.
But it is right that he isnt short on options. They together make a lovey dovey couple. Overall, I see their true love, regardless all the negativity around them. The negativity seems to make them closer.

Well said and I really wonder if their relationship would be going this well if Raymond was not this rich? I also wonder if she would still stay with Raymond if one day he ran out of money?
Of course,who does not want to go on vacation when they are young? But how many people have the time and money to do so?

How is that a “strength” – knowing how to find play, fun outlets/events/activities/shop when someone else is footing the bill, no budget to consider?

Tell you the truth, I don’t think she’s unattractive looking but of course not like the most cutest or prettiest but good looking enough for him. He looks older for his age b/c she does look young next to him but they still do look OK together.
It’s a beneficial relationship to both, he likes her young and she likes him rich but who knows whether or not real love/likeness is involved only they would know for sure. I think he just likes them young if he wants to pop babies out of her like the Cathy Tsui woman? haha lol…
