Raymond Lam Launches “L.F.” Clothing Line

As Raymond Lam’s (林峯) mass appeal continues to climb, now fans are given a chance to get closer to their idol by dressing like him. Earlier, Raymond opened his own company, L.For, to create his own branded merchandise. For his upcoming “A Time 4 You” concert, L.F. will be printing t-shirts, caps, and other “Choksta” items for sale.

Raymond models his new L.F. line, which draws influences from hip hop culture and targets the youth market. The timing of the launch of his “Choksta” collection is perfect, since it coincides with his January 26 concert at the Hong Kong Coliseum.

“L.F.” are the initials of Raymond’s Chinese name, Lam Fung. The 33-year-old’s sixth music album, released in July 2011, was also titled LF. His book commemorating his 13-year entertainment career was similarly titled, It’s LF. For his “Light Up My Life” world tour, L.F. concert memorabilia was also printed for sale. Thus, the L.F. brand has been circulating for more than one year.

Raymond’s apparel and LF merchandise, which has urban culture influences, may be tapping into the same youth market as Edison Chen’s (陳冠希) CLOT Media. Edison’s Juice stores have experienced success in Hong Kong, Taipei, Shanghai, and Kuala Lumpur; he oversees the creative vision of his apparel collection and often models his company’s merchandise.

Other celebrities who have established their own apparel lines include Chrissie Chau (周秀娜), who invested $10 million HKD to launch her own intimate apparel collection, and Elva Hsiao’s (蕭亞軒) new Carry Me clothing line. Leo Ku’s (古巨基) ABC clothing stores have been existence for several years as well.

      1. I have noticed LF’s dancers are wearing “Choksta” cap and jumpers in his “nice” performances in JSG award presentation and RTHK award presentation . Dancers look pretty cool and unique. Infact , they look more sporty and healthy attire rather than “hip hop” .

  1. Hahaa…Choksta!

Maybe some Bgirl will like it???

This is too funny. I didn’t know today was April Fools! 😛

  2. I don’t see any problems with him having his own clothing line. This is not a first as many stars in the US have already done so. I only wish him success as he ventures into the clothing market. Go LF!

    1. agree…try new thing…go go Raymond…his girl fans can buy for their boy friends la…

      1. This will increase his fan base then! Cause as of now, his fans are 99% female.

      2. @YanYanKong: 99% is too big amount. 80% is the max. There are many fanboys for LF and they are even crazier for him than the girls.

  3. If you dont like it, ignore it. Its as simple as that. All the success for Raymond.

  4. I’d buy the snapback that says “Choksta” just for the hell of it. It’s so corny.

  5. nothing wrong with a clothing line – I applaud a good clothing line. Copying Edison Chan – will easily become a parody.

    1. At least there is still someone here who is objective. I applaud you.

      1. I just never understood why LF decided to do youth culture hip hop style – never thought that suited him. Also very incongruent to the si lai pleasing clean cut image.

He would have made some awesome upper end formal/semi formal menswear – something respectable.

      2. I wouldn’t know the answer to this but I’m going to assume maybe cause he got popular during his younger days i.e. late teens-early 20s, so I doubt TVB or even his manager would sell him out to be a si lai killer since we had Moses, Michael Tao and others for that. So naturally, someone had to make an appeal for the younger audience and LF did exactly that.

Now as for current day, I guess since he’s only 33, he doesn’t have to go for the mature look just yet, but it’ll probably come soon. Haha, although I do agree that he would rock formal/semi formal menswear better than what he’s doing now. Who knows, trial and error? He’ll figure it out 🙂

    2. LF is sponsored by a men’s clothing line already –remember his ads with suits and tuxedos not too long ago? This CHOKSTA line could be for the upcoming concert only, much like the CHOK tee shirts, caps, etc for the LUML concert in 2011. No one can please EVERYONE! Good luck LF!
      LF Love FUNG!

  6. Choksta? Is this for real hahaha. Is he trying to be HK’s answer to Justin Bieber 😀

    1. Nope, but you have definitely reciprocated Beiber’s haters 😀

    2. I kinda think him and his career is very similar to Justin. He’s almost the mature HK version of Justin Bieber. I don’t like Justin though except for the fact that he can sing, but I do like Ray’s acting and singing.

  7. LF cannot compare to CLOT media. They look like the $2 shop clothes!

  8. WTF Wow That’s Fung!
Good luck LF! Love the lion, I’m a Leo! Hope there is a case for my iPhone5. Countdown 4 days to your concerts. See you on all three nights, wondering who your guests could be?! No matter, your concerts will be AWESOME. Let’s get crazy and P A R T Y! NIIIICEEE! LF Love FUNG!

    1. Enjoy with Raymond….I can’t go because i am in US….but happy to know happy, royal fans with Raymond…Enjoy 🙂 I will buy the DVD when it come out!!

  9. But his style is horrendous. Who would want to emulate that?!!

  10. Just ugly. He’s not even that cool with these clothes for his age.

  11. I think these are just merch for his upcoming concert not an ongoing clothing line

    1. I hope it’s just concert merchandise. As a clothing line, it will probably fail very badly.

      1. Yeah I never understood the while chok hype I mean I like Raymond as an artist and its partly the media’s fault but chok is overused just like Justin Bieber and his whole “swag”

      2. The whole “chok” thing started at one of the anniversary awards a few years back. One of the award presenters told him to “chok” for the camera… it was really just for fun as he/she was teasing him for his good looks…however the forever terrifying media marketed that couple of seconds and from then on……….the chok revolution started.

  12. I like that red cap, but besides that… nah.. Honestly, who is his target audience? Honeys? hahaha.. Besides that I can’t see anyone wanting to wear a “choksta” cap

  13. I’m a big fan of raymond, but the name is just too much for me. seriously? choksta? wtf.

  14. hahaha… this range looks cheap, like those pirated stuff sold in night markets. Lousy brand name too. And is hip hop even his style? I think his team is really doing a bad job this time.

    1. lol i was thinking that too, it looks cheaply made. it might not be in person, but these pictures aren’t doing it any justice. Raymond is nothing close to hip hop lol.

    2. He did horrible when he perform “Chok” with his gangsta outfit.

  15. Choking, choker, Choksta?? doesn’t sound right. Perhaps just ‘chok’ will do.

He has so many fans, it would sell quite a bit.

  16. sorry but it’s failing to make a first impression whatsoever. it lacks it’s own identity and style, something that successful brands like Stay Real have done. his clothes are ugly, unoriginal, and screams of try-hard. i don’t disagree with the move towards a clothing line, but this will never compare. Raymond just isn’t cool enough to pull off this style and he doesn’t normally dress like this either. so if we don’t see him in it, why would anyone else see themselves in it?

  17. It’s so funny! Choksta! Gangsta! So he is a gangsta who is a choksta?! Hip hop community is probably laughing their a** off! But if it is reasonably priced, good quality, why not?

Choksta all the way to the bank!

    1. Bc wearing that choksta cap guarantees a trip to the hospital, LOL

Even Master Ip Man can’t come out of the public outrage unhurt.

  18. When I first saw this I was shocked but I have always admired people who do what they dream to do whether it will succeed or fail. At least do first then you will know. And he can afford to lose and that is key to any business venture. Can you afford to lose? You will always win the experience whether the business succeeds or fail.

I believe he pays experts who will help him – production, marketing, business analyst; it will be interesting to see. I will not underestimate the China market. They have plenty of money (as seen in IT showing now) and they love to buy from their own rather than American, Japanese etc. LF may have something going. Only China is enough. On the contrary never believe in Moses or Bosco’s ventures in Malaysia.

    1. Obviously he has investors, he doesn’t himself pay experts and maybe he designed those himself but most probably he is just lending him name to this. LF or Lam Fung is now a brand name. A lot of HK artistes don’t really make their names brand names but he did. I suppose it goes on the premise his fans will buy anything his name is used for. That is the truth. Hopefully he has more control over the quality and production but I highly doubt it. Probably a joint venture with another house brand or something.

      1. Depends on what grade or class level he is aiming for. I doubt he is looking at his fans alone, if the designs are chic enough and quality good, a lot of Chinese youngsters may go for it. Wouldn’t know the business set up but he may have a market. Like you say not many HK artistes have their brand names, not many Chinese ones for that matter too. But China is very supportive of their own, that I know.

  19. It’d be stupid if his fans go all crazy and fight to go buy his clothing cause I doubt Raymond designed it himself and I doubt he really spent time starting this company!

But seems like Ray’s really planning to retire soon. He trying to accomplish as much as he can in this year! Movies, album, concert, clothing line/company, drama.

    1. Me too! I know he has potential and is a really good singer/actor, but his actions or atleast the things his companies make him do always make me feel embarrassed for him.

That’s why he should ditch TVB cause it’s mainly TVB that always causes the negative news and rumors.

  20. if i am in HK, i don’t mind to buy one or two cap as souvenir…

    1. Funny! LF or Choksta cap as souvenir, not I Heart HK T-shirts. So this is what HK is known for?!! LOLS Or is Ray just that famous he can represent HK now? I would think Eason is more entitled to represent HK. Although I like Ray’s singing more than Easons.

      1. You are becoming kind of ridiculous. If you don’t want, then why you can’t just let ppl who want it buy it? It isn’t your business if AL wanna buy it as souvernir at all.

    2. i am just keep it as souvenir for i attend the concert…if it is not that expensive…just like if i go to disneyland…i will buy a bit mickey item!

      1. Atleast HK disneyland is a much more memorable and representative souvenir from HK, but LF clothing?

      2. well…again…i would buy it…maybe because i like it…just that simple

  21. the apparels are pretty cool considering it’s designed for youngsters, and i especially adore the shoes! but Choksta? seriously? corniest slogan ever!

  22. People were saying how horrible his LF clothes look. I’d say his clothes are basically already existant shirt/pant patterns with his name ironed onto them. No distinct/unique LF design at all.

  23. well the dude was an architecture before joining the entertainment industry so some designing skills right?!?!!?

    1. But architectures are squared and block in shape while clothing takes on more shapes and is more flowy.

  24. Love the CHOKSTA iPhone5 case. I am a Leo and love the red color! So AWESOME! Can’t wait to buy it at the concert. Countdown ONE day to the new CD with MVs!!! LF Love FUNG!

  25. i’m sorry but he does not suit this choksta style at all. he is just not cool enough and is really pushing it at 33. if he was in the uk, he would probably get beaten up for wearing these clothes.

    1. yeah he’d prolly be beaten up in the uk for being an ‘asian dressing up like a black rapper dude’.

      1. Let’s wait then. In UK there are tons of Asian guys dressing in hip hop clothes and nobody ever care. Only some Asians are that boring to care for those things, like you perhaps.

  26. Countdown 8 hours to party with LF and Honeys!
READY, let’s just get crazy! Let’s rock the house!
    NiiiCEEE!
