Raymond Lam to Recruit Kate Tsui and Tavia Yeung Under New Production Company?

Now that Raymond Lam’s (林峯) contract with TVB is nearing the end, rumors are rife that he will not be renewing his contract. Instead, he already made plans to invest in a management company that will be involved in television shows, movies and promotions. There were also allegations that he intends to sign former co-stars, Kate Tsui (徐子珊) and Tavia Yeung (楊怡), under his wing.

Despite being a favorite in TVB, Raymond started to grow despondent after losing the TV King title to Wayne Lai (黎耀祥) in 2012. With his contract expiring in April, Raymond already gave hints that he would not be renewing his contract. There were speculations that he would be joining his girlfriend, Karena Ng (吳千語) at  Raymond Wong’s (黃百鳴) Pegasus Entertainment while there are others who believed he would join Paco’s Sun Entertainment instead.

According to a reliable source, Raymond will be starting his own management company instead. Asked earlier about this, Raymond denied the claims, saying that a business venture takes too much work.

On the surface, Raymond continued to be obedient to TVB, while accepting outside jobs. Earlier, he filmed for now TV’s The Virtuous Queen of Han <大漢賢后衛子夫> and guest-starring in Raymond Wong’s Lunar New Year movie, Hello Babies <六福喜事>. As his vacations with Karena snagged headlines, Raymond came across as prioritizing love ahead of his career.

Underneath the easygoing façade, Raymond allegedly has been slowly and carefully planning his exit from TVB. Friends divulged that Raymond has shared that he wants to venture out on his own for a few years, before he quitting show business to help his father manage the family business. With his own savings and his father’s backing, Raymond has already secretly set up his own company in Mainland China, where he has already built up a reputation. It is alleged that his first production will start work at the end of the year and it will be a romance television series co-starring Chrissie Chau (周秀娜).

Raymond’s long-standing manager, Candy, may follow him over to his company. Raymond also has eyes to bring Kate Tsui and Tavia Yeung onboard as well.

    1. Yeah, it’s takes one to see one. It’s takes the monkey in you to see the monkey in him….

  1. Kate and tavia are the best he should also try and get sheh and Ron

  2. We will wait and see ………. if that is true!

  3. I don’t think this is true at all since in one of the interviews, he did mention that after seeing how hardworking Michelle Ye was (looking after the cast, producing it, acting in the drama as well), he said that it wasn’t something he would do at that time.

In that same interview, He clarified that his business venture was something to do with concert items.

  4. I think kate still has awhile in get contract…

But please tavia! Sign with anybody but tvb! They treat you like crap!!

    1. Tavia treated like crap? She is first lead and the only female lead in all her series of late! Tavia should not leave, not until Ray is established. Since he is busy with his own work and karena how we know he will be dedicated in managing other artistes’ career?

      1. Yes first lead by title only! Her screen time in the so called only female lead series are pathetic. She’s more like a calefare to me. In oc2 she prob had a total of 5 mins of screen time episode. Eliza had way more screen time, how do u call that first lead when you have 5 mins of screen time total??

And ya I agree maybe not signing with Raymond but definitely leaving tvb!

      2. @Mindy: I think everyone else in Txb are the same. The screentime of a first lead can be 5-10 mins in certain eps of an series, or even less. There are artists listed as first lead but have no scene in one or few eps of a series. Not a rare case, hence not maltreatment.

      3. Francis was one of the main leads in tits2 and his screen time is about 5-10 minute per episode.

IMO having more or less screen time isn’t the issue, it’s how well the actor/actress interprets the character. Just like Francis in tits2 his screen time was limited but that doesn’t take away his main lead status and his great acting. If an actor/actress does a good job even if they only have a total of 2 scenes the audience will notice it and appreciate the effort.

      4. @Lillian: I absolutely agree with you.

@Mindy: Francis and Myolie in TITS2 are examples. Or in Men with no shadow (I guess you watched it) LF has an eps with only 20s of appearance. It’s how the artist leaves impression to the audience than how much screentime they have.

    2. Francis def had a lot of screen time throughout the series, I don’t know what your talkin about. It’s noticeable that he was the main lead…

IMO tavia did exceptionally well in oc2 with her limited screen time. The series itself would of been better if they focused on what made the first series better rather than promoting newbies

      1. lol so Tavia wasn’t noticeable in OC2? That says it all about her acting.

      2. Have you seen tits2? Francis’ screen time was diluted with such a large cast and so many side stories. The focus on the side stories and other leads/supporting actors/actresses was much more straining to watch than oc2. But even so Francis was able to demand an audience’s attention on him and the overall opinion is he did a great job in that series.

I am curious, if Tavia did a spectacular job with her role, what exactly are you unhappy about? Having more screen time does not improve the quality of her acting, does it? Also, how does a lead actress who did such a spectacular job with her role remind you of a calefare?

  5. if he wants to cast chrissie chau for his first production, clearly we know this production company isn’t going anywhere. That girl has no talent except showing off her body .

  6. Gonna miss Raymond and Ron these guys markets pretty big Ron NG is like chi lam Raymond lam is even beyond tvb holds him back

  7. Doubt this is true, I think he’ll stay with TVB but given his popularity he wont’ be filming as often as before. Besides I think Tavia will be staying as well probably signing a different kind of contract as for Kate I believe she still has a long way to go…her contract is not even close to an end yet.

  8. His dream is to make musical movie, hence a romantic series doesn’t sound right. If he and his company (if any) make a work, it’s likely for movie than series.

      1. Corinna Chan and Grace Wong can participate in Raymond’s musical (if any). Personally I love musicals and there are so few in Hong Kong.

      2. I think if he makes musical movie and choosing among Txb and recruit Grace Wong, I’ll applaud :). She can dance. Kate is also a candidate. Nancy is good and Micheal Tse should be invited. But TY? LMAO~, plz no for a musical movie.

  9. I think he will leave look at all the good artist leaving these days

    1. Raymond’s look, acting and singing so-so. It’s time to leave, head home to help dad with the business. Fun’s over bud.

  10. Raymond lam is nothing to tvb Tommy Leung is tvb life I’m sorry

  11. LF’s Honeys will support him in whatever path he chooses as long as he is happy! ❤️ LF Love FUNG!

    1. same here…i will stand behind LF…support support…

      1. but i don’t think this news is true…because LF is already said himself it is too much work! if he want to run business, he can just back to his family business…no need to start a new business!
I wish he can do more movie!

    2. Totally agree AL!
LF needs a new company that will not work him to death and give him the freedom to choose his work!

Perhaps having his own production company will give him that flexibility and also the chance to look for “new blood” as in script writers, producers etc. No matter what, LF has my support!

  12. So many people opening their own production companies, there is going to be an oversupply. If they just keep poaching people, it won’t actually change the quality of the entertainment. The industry needs to invest in new writers and producers who can create original works, not just hire old industry hacks churning out the same stuff
