Raymond Wong Runs 10K; Eager for Faster Health Recovery

In September, Raymond Wong (黄浩然) was hospitalized for two weeks after being diagnosed with Behcet’s disease, which caused inflammation to his body and weakened his immune system. Prioritizing his health first, Raymond withdrew from TVB drama Pirate Cheung<張保仔>, and reduced his workload to promotional functions. Feeling better in recent weeks, Raymond is eager for a faster recovery and has been going for morning runs.

When he entered the hospital last month, Raymond’s weight dropped to 130 pounds since he was unable to swallow solid food. With his appetite returning to normal and eating more home-cooked meals prepared by his wife Kaka Mok (莫家嘉), Raymond has gained back a dozen pounds.

Training under TVB actor and martial arts expert Sin Ho Ying (冼灝英) for several years, Raymond turned to Sin Sifu for advice and ways to recover his strength. Two days after being released from the hospital, Raymond and Sin Sifu went for a slow jog on September 20. Over the next few weeks, Sin Sifu increased the pace of the running sessions, while making sure that Raymond can accept the new challenges.

On October 14, the pair completed a ten-kilometer run from Bowen Road to Braemar Hill, which follow the contours of hills in Hong Kong. Raymond said, “With my respected sifu Sin Ho Ying running alongside me, I feel great!”  Even when Sin Sifu flew to Japan to join the Osaka Marathon this week, Raymond did not abandon his morning routine and completed an eight-kilometer run on his own. Taking his time to complete the course, Raymond broke into a noticeable sweat and smiled with satisfaction afterward.

  1. Hope Raymond does not over exert himself. Trying to do too much with not enough recovery time will cause him to relapse.

    1. Agree. Raymond should take his time to rest and recover.
