Roger Kwok is “The Last Imperial Physician”

TVB’s period drama The Last Imperial Physician <末代御醫> held a blessing ceremony earlier this week. The drama takes place in the late 1800s and centers on the final ruling days of Empress Dowager Cixi, shortly before the collapse of the Qing Dynasty. Roger Kwok (郭晉安) stars as a cunning and ambitious imperial physician who engages in palace politics. Tavia Yeung (楊怡) is a city physician specializing in orthopedics.

The Last Imperial Physician is Roger’s first drama after taking a one-year break from acting. Although it has already been a week since filming started, Roger is still struggling with the transition of the long filming hours. “I look like I’m drugged once it’s past midnight,” Roger said with a laugh. “But I’m getting more used to it now.”

In regards to taking a break from acting, Roger said it was to spend more time with his family. “I got to take my son to school every morning,” he said.

Tavia shared that she also went on vacation earlier and visited Japan with her family. She also visited her ancestral home, Zhanjiang.

Last month, Tavia and boyfriend Him Law (羅仲謙) were spotted lining up at a sales event for residential homes in LOHAS Park. However, Tavia said she failed to purchase the property in the end. “I felt like I suffered a loss. I ike the location and it’s a good investment. I’m not good in speculating stocks and property prices, so my purpose of buying property is to gain more assets. I also encourage [Him] to try investing too. We’ve always been investing separately, and a lot of my friends are also investing. Nowadays, it’s hard to buy property even if you have money.”

  1. TVB, try to move away from Qing series. It is no longer current. Go back to wuxia! Don’t let that China guy destroy good legacy!

TVB will not film a Wuxia drama in the foreseeable future, given the immense risk to partake in such a venture.

I do not quite understand what you mean by Qing dynasty series not being current. Do you mean you are just tired of Qing dynasty series? I have noticed too many Qing dynasty series are being made, but series from other dynasties are not made as often.

I have not seen a good Wuxia series from TVB/Hk for a long time. However,I have been enjoying many great wuxia series from China. Therefore,I also do not get what you mean by letting “that China guy destroy good legacy”? Didn’t you enjoy some China series before? China has truly surpassed TVb in the wuxia area ages ago so you wonder if Tvb can ever catch up?
