Fans were not the only ones shocked by Viann Zhang’s (張馨予) breakup announcement from Ron Ng (吳卓羲). Ron was also surprised by the ending of his own relationship! Viann had decided to unilaterally dump Ron before the public, without discussing with him first! Crowded by reporters regarding his fresh heartbreak, Ron said that he learned of his own breakup when confronted by reporters yesterday!
It was understood that Viann was unhappy that Ron never officially acknowledged her as his girlfriend before the public. Ron was often criticized by fans that he yielded too much to Viann’s demanding needs. Despite lack of fan support for the relationship, Ron risked career suicide by formally admitting that Viann was his girlfriend on July 13th. Ron thought he had finally settled the lovers’ arguments and made Viann happy.
Little did Ron know that Viann had already decided to end the relationship, without consulting with him first! Ron said that he was confused by Viann’s breakup announcement and did not know of her disclosure intentions in advance!
Ron appeared to be helpless in the lack of control he had over his own relationship. Forcing a smile before the press, he continued to say that he remained in contact with Viann. Asked why Viann made the breakup announcement yesterday, Ron finally said, “Regarding the breakup, I only learned of the matter when reporters asked me the questions yesterday! I do not understand why reporters asked about our relations. You know how things are between a dating couple, there is an understanding beforehand.”
Asked whether Viann gave up the relationship because Ron never publicly acknowledged her as his girlfriend, he said, “We have never stated our relationship publicly. However, many people know that we are a couple.”
Whether Ron was in denial over the breakup or unable to accept its sudden reality, he added, “I wish her well. As long as she is happy, that is enough!”

Is she though? or is she so frustrated with Ron’s lack of attention and his inability to listen to her needs that she feels the need to go to the public in order to get him to respond to her?
Not saying the above is true… but wanted to point out that there are two sides to every coin… and to suggest someone is a “manipulator” when we don’t really know the full story between the two is a bit harsh.
I’m not saying that Ron isn’t at fault too since it takes two to tango, but from the moment Viann posted on Ron’s blog with his account, I don’t think she has the best intentions for Ron and his career.

Ron doesn’t come across as an aggressive person, so he will not beg for reconciliation if Viann truly wants to break up.
From Ron’s comments towards the media over the last 3 weeks, his “very happy” message, he thought he was doing the right thing and making Viann happy. I do think that they had some sort of make-up between June 29th and July 13th, when he posted that “very happy” message on Weibo.
Viann changed her mind and felt that this was the most clear and direct way to end a relationship that she is no longer happy with.
I do feel for Ron. Obviously, he is not ready to emotionally let go of Viann yet.

Seems to me that the pattern of this relationship is as follows:
1) happy together
2) Viann begins to grow distant because Ron isn’t paying her enough attention/Ron hasn’t changed in the way he views their relationship
3) Viann speaks out in public to get Ron to listen to her
4) Ron runs to her side to “reconcile” the relationship
5) return to 1) and repeat.
Maybe this time Viann will completely break the cycle and go elsewhere?

2. I’m not a Viann hater either, especially all I’ve ever heard about her is news concerning Ron.
3. It’s their personal relationship. We’ll never know the full events of the story.
It’s unfair of us to judge, but nonetheless, I can’t help feeling the same way as aptos (well, probably not as harsh). She’s always put public opinion/acceptance above her feelings for Ron, causing unnecessary tension. Did she expect to have it all (when she announced the relationship without conferring with Ron first)? She wanted a boosted career, to bag herself a man, seek acknowledgement from him AND have everyone else congratulate her? It’s no fairy tale, Viann. I know she wanted Ron to speak up at first, but even if he had done so earlier, that girl seems far too demanding and probably would have continued the bickering online with his fans. She just wants to have it all.
But with that said, Ron is a grown man; he knew what he was getting himself into right from the start – or I at least hope he did. If he falls, he falls. Let’s hope he can pick himself up again, kickstart his career and find happiness in the future.
I saw news that Ron is already doing work as usual and attending events and it don’t look like he’s crying or mourning anymore! Good going for Ron! Forget Viann and start a new focus to work!
