Ruby Lin and Weber Yang Spotted on a Date

Starring as a pair of college sweethearts in Taiwanese romance drama The Way We Were <16個夏天>, Ruby Lin (林心如) and Weber Yang (楊一展) have reportedly carried their onscreen romance over to real life.  As the pairing is very popular with viewers, rumors that Ruby and Weber are together have been running rampant since the show’s debut. Despite denying the dating rumors, Ruby and Weber were recently photographed on a date!

In the photographs captured by the paparazzi, all the signs of a date were evident. Ruby and Weber were shown happily chatting over afternoon tea. Ruby was clad in all black and wearing a cap, as if she was deliberately trying to avoid attention. At the end of the meal, Weber got the bill and drove Ruby home.

In response to these photos, Weber’s manager stated that it was just two friends meeting up. Ruby’s manager gave no response.

This is not the first time that Ruby and Weber showed signs of dating. Earlier this year, they were photographed with a group of mutual friends at a barbecue during the Mid-Autumn Festival. Fans immediately spotted Weber’s hand placed on Ruby’s waist, and started a lively debate about their purported romance.

As expected, at the time, both Ruby and Weber denied that they were romantically involved. Weber even went so far as to say, “I’m not good enough [for Ruby].” He explained that as they were all a little tipsy at the gathering, he was trying to be a gentleman by holding onto Ruby.

On Ruby’s part, she asserted, “Even if we were really together, I wouldn’t so generously share photos!”

In spite of all the denials, fans of the Ruby-Weber pairing are excited by the latest developments, especially with recent photos giving them ample gossip room.

  1. both looks cute together, watch Weber in “two fathers” such a great and good actor.

  2. Personally I like her with Wallace or Alex :p but… Weber and her do seem very comfortable with each other while being couple for 16 summers. Oh well, good for her if it’s true xD.

Ps: that forced kiss when they were in college was hot, and intense xD

    1. I started watching this show and it’s so addictive, so good. The ending song is so good too. Haven’t got to that forced kiss scene yet, but can’t wait!

  3. Hmnn, I have always told myself that Alec is secretly waiting for her. 😀

    1. Hahaha, me too until after I’ve watched this show. Now I’m shipping for Ruby and Weber

      1. Haha after hearing this I dont know whether I should watch it then because I dont want my Alec-Ruby ship to sink!!!

      2. Miniwonton, worth trying. I won’t say too much to avoid giving spoilers. 😉

  4. didn’t they say the same thing about yuan hong some months back? its just promotions by the company n media to sell drama and tabloids. i think ruby is not dating weber. poor ruby, if all men she came across thought she was too good for them, she’s out of luck romantically and thats prob why she is still single up to now.

  5. Wow I seriously didn’t expect the drama 16個夏天 or the way we were is so good, especially as it’s supposed to be an idol drama. I watched the first episode to see what it’s about because my friends said it’s very nostalgic and got hooked. Can’t stop watching it. Will probably rewatch it, hopefully with less tissues the second time.

Melvin Sia the Malaysian actor really acted well. It’s been a while since I’ve last watched a Malaysian production, ie when I was living in Malaysia 20 years ago… and in the old days they were laughable, not for comedy. But if this guy is an indication, I’m glad Malaysian drama have improved.

    1. Although Melvin Sia won the first Malaysia’s Chinese TV Best Actor Award, I never thought he’s the best. At that time, I felt that there were many more deserving candidates. The last performance I saw of Melvin’s was in the movie ‘Kepong Gangster’ back in 2012 and at that time, I thought Henley Hii acted better than him.

If you think Melvin acted well, it either means Melvin has improved a lot or the standard of Malaysian actors are actually pretty high. Both is a good thing to me as a Malaysian. 🙂

I’ll need to check out 16個夏天. Although I don’t think Melvin is the best actor, he’s still one of the actors I like.

      1. Thanks Kidd. Melvin was believable and honestly my expectation was very low because I have not watched Malaysian production since I left 20 years ago. But nonetheless I still think it’s a good effort.

I’ll need to try and watch Kepong gangster since I was living in Kepong area!

    2. Glad you enjoy the drama 🙂 me, too. I’m ruby biased, but that because her drama is always very nice. She knows what to do to produce good series, enough humour to be light but not silly and stupid like some mainland productions, and most of the actors she picked are very good at acting. She and weber does giving out this comfortable feeling like they have been couples for ages, very different feeling that she generally gives when she’s with other co-star. So I think Alex does have a good rival there :p
For melvin, he was not bad in this drama, but not that great, I think he’s slightly the weakest out of the bunch, could be because his character is semi-wicked, more pitiful, but mainly it’s just an unlikeable character.
All in all, 16 summers is very good, lots of nice lessons about how one should treasure each moments in life, however, it goes 1 bit further and encouraging by saying even if you miss those moments, and regret, it makes you appreciate life more and know exactly when and how to not miss it again. Which is a true sentiment and refreshing 🙂 recommend if you haven’t seen it 🙂

      1. Little Fish, I responded but my comment was moderated… Anyhow, trying again.
Little Fish, I agree that Melvin’s character is least likeable, but it got better. I just finished watching this and all I can say is wow, a box of tissue required. I know I’m overly complimentary now, but it’s got to be the best drama I’ve seen this year. I must say you’re spot on, Ruby Lin knows how to produce drama.

  6. Jayne, I’m not sure why my posts have been “moderated” or deleted? There was no profanity or inappropriate content or sexual innuendos … Really scratching my head here.
