Ruco Chan Posts Photo of “2011 Sexiest Man Alive in Hong Kong Award”

In September 2011, JayneStars.com held a “2011 Sexiest Man Alive in Hong Kong Award” online poll, in which Ruco Chan (陳展鵬) won by an overwhelming margin! His breakout role as the upright lawyer in TVB drama, The Other Truth <真相>, skyrocketed his popularity and allowed viewers to discover his great acting skills.

Our site compiled fan comments into a booklet, which was mailed along with an awards plaque and t-shirt gift to Ruco. The package was delivered to Ruco with the assistance of Chin Pang’s Hong Kong Fan Club.

On August 17, 2012, Ruco posted a photo on his Weibo blog of his awards collection at home, which featured JayneStars.com’s “2011 Sexiest Man Alive in Hong Kong Award”! He captioned the photo as, “Here are some awards from my work. Tomorrow, I will try harder!” It was Ruco’s manner of thanking his fans’ support of him over the years.

JayneStars.com would like to thank all the readers who had submitted congratulatory comments last year, which were compiled into the fan booklet. Rest assured that Ruco has read your encouraging words!

In September 2012, we will launch the “2012 Sexiest Man Alive in China Award” poll on JayneStars.com! This year, we will increase the excitement of the poll by featuring the hottest Hong Kong male celebrities and adding nominees from Taiwan and mainland China as well! Stay tuned to participate in our exciting poll!

Below are additional photos of the awards plaque and fan booklet mailed to Ruco. The below photos are taken by JayneStars.com.

  1. Congrats to Ruco, and to JayneStars 🙂 Btw, what happened to Tavia’s package? Did she receive it?

    1. Sure-lee,
I mailed Tavia’s awards package to TVB City, but did not receive acknowledgement that she had received it.

      1. Hope she got it! Ruco must be happy with his sexiest man in HK award, since it’s in his important collection xD Looking forward to the next voting opportunity in September! Thanks Jayne!

      2. Sure-lee,
Since Ruco appears to be a modest man, the title of the award might give him a slight blush. 🙂 But it’s a gesture of fan support, which is why he posted a photo of his awards collection to begin with.

He is thanking the fans because without them, his acting career awards would not be possible.

  2. wow looks like Ruco sure does read Jayne Stars!!!!!!!

      1. Most people in Hong Kong can read English. It is not hard to read and understand English. It is just hard to speak and write GOOD ENGLISH.

  3. Ruco comes across as a humble man. He works extremely hard to get to where he is now. Hope he will win an award in tonight’s TVB awards in singapore.

  4. I like him too! He should be my husband. I’ll treat him well n cook him dinner. Can’t wait for the next poll. These polls are fun Jayne!!!

  5. Isn’t it lovely that the JayneStars.com award seem to in the front line of the collection of awards that he has? 🙂

  6. That’s cool knowing that he really received the award.

If he has been here reading comments then he should know that he is one of the best actors at TVB 🙂

    1. Chan Chin Pang is an actor with good and solid acting skills and is articulate in pronunciation of words.

      1. agree 110%

Btw that figure of “Keith” looks cool. Perhaps I should look for a “Keith” bubblehead saying “I want the truth” 🙂

  7. is it true ruco gonna be tvb next biggest brother with in 2 years does that mean he will even surpass, roger, kevin and wayne

    1. Personally I think Ruco’s acting is better than Kevin Cheng’s and Roger Kwok’s. However, sometimes good acting does not play a very important role in an artiste’s achievement. Timing and promotion put more weight on an artiste’s success.

      1. Ruco is a solid actor, but I wouldn’t say he’s better than Roger.

      2. Eh? Kevin’s acting is easily surpassed but Roger is a very strong actor. However, he is welcome to step (on) over Moses anytime.

      3. Personally I don’t think Roger is a good actor, especially in those silly roles, like Ah Wong.

The only drama I liked from him was “Last One Standing” . He did very well in it as a villain.

      4. I like Kevin Cheng acting characters with serious personalities like Tong Eleven in “Gloves Come Off”, but not those comedic ones. He over-exaggerated his role, Law Ba, in “Ghetto Justice 2”

      5. that means roger is a very strong actor and he can play any role really well its just he gets those silly roles the most

      6. @ Sandcherry

        Really?

What about Wax & Wane, DIE I & II, The Threshold of a Persona, Glittering Days, At the Threshold of an Era (only likeable character in a huge star-studded cast!) to mention a couple of shows. Roger is heaps above Kevin in terms of range and versatility.

And from your description, it sounds like you like neither Kevin nor Roger in silly OTT roles… but could it not simply be because they are written so poorly? TVB scripts have the subtlety of a doorknob, so of course these “comedic” roles are written like as if by children. If you haven’t yet, you should check out Glittering Days. Really great, funny drama, Roger, Charmaine and Lisa are flawless in it.

      7. Advo:

Agree that those silly characters were poorly written by those TVB scriptwriters. However, I am sure some other good artistes can do a better job. This is my personal opinion only. It is okay if you like Roger Kwok.

All the other drama series done by Roger Kwok were just okay to me, not outstanding as he had already got the Best Actor Awards twice in the last few years. People would expect better acting from him.

Wayne Lai (and even Ruco Chan, at least to me) should be a better actor than he. Personally I don’t think Roger can handle all kinds of characters, especially silly roles. He acted all silly and dumb roles as “Ah Wong”. He should be good in acting villains as I liked him best in “Last One Standing” .

      8. Bowie Lam and Steven Ma can act those silly and dumb roles, such as “Ah Wong”, much better than Roger Kwok for sure.

  8. I only noticed he is attractive when he appeared as a guest in Eric Tsang Super Trio game show. He was humble n modest during the game show. Then followed by his tvb series as an undercover cop in Bowie Lam Every move u make, his acting n pitiful looks in that drama was really good, even outshine Bosco that time. Good job Ruco! U have come a long way, keep it up.

  9. I don’t really find him (as) attractive as others do, but it’s always enjoyable and heartwarming to watch a celebrity acknowledge their fans.

    1. Ruco is not attractive as a male actor, but I enjoyed his solid acting skills and his charming voice.

    1. Wow, what a compliment for Ruco. I wish he would read your comment.

    2. Yes, his skills has far surpassed Wayne’s and is matchless in TVB world 🙂

  10. omg!! that is Jaynestars.com Award! its so warm seeing that. Thanks Jayne!

Ruco Rocks!! He just received an “New-comer” award in Singapore.

    1. Funny he is considered a newcomer when he has been in the industry for so long and surpassed all his peers in terms of acting abilities in TVB.

  11. Aw man can’t wait till the next poll because I missed the last one D:
