Ruco Chan Supports Kenneth Ma for TV King
Nominated for Best Actor for his role in Ruse of Engagement <叛逃>, Ruco Chan (陳展鵬) is one of the fan favorites to win TV King at the upcoming TVB Anniversary Awards. Ruco, who was already crowned TV King at Singapore’s StarHub TVB Awards in October, said he does not see himself winning the award at the 48th TVB Anniversary Awards.
According to Ruco, winning awards really depends on timing and fate. “Ruse of Engagement was warehoused for three years before it was aired,” said Ruco. He was grateful for his win in Singapore and does not feel pressured over the Anniversary Awards, which will take place on December 15.
If Ruco does not think he will win Best Actor at the TVB Anniversary Awards, who does he support instead? Ruco laughed and said, “Roger Kwok (郭晉安) and Wayne Lai (黎耀祥) are top favorites, but both have already won. I think someone else should win this time.”
On who that person is, Ruco immediately said Kenneth Ma (馬國明). “I really want him to win. Both of us also debuted around the same time.”

I was gonna say I don’t remember seeing Kenneth in any series at all then I remember that series with Selena. Ruco has a much higher chance of winning than Kenneth honestly.
Ruco oh Ruco, wayyy too diplomatic. The fight as tv says is between Roger and Wayne, both deserving winners. I thought Overachievers ended very well even if it had me scratching my head and Wayne gave a powerful performance, similar to Roger except Roger was pure evil and Wayne was pure impulsive but very similar. Ruco should have been Hugo.
If possible, Patrick Tam should have been Hugo lol.
Oh gosh, does he even know what he’s saying? It’s definitely between Roger and Wayne. They deserve it. Kenneth, I don’t think he deserves it, at least not yet. Even Ruco’s acting is better than Kenneth.

Ruco’s just being nice and wishes that his good fren Kenneth can win. I dare say Ruco’s acting is on par with Roger and Wayne. And Ruco is versatile, he can act Roger and Wayne’s roles but the other 2 probably can’t act Ruco’s role in Ruse of Engagement and Outbound Love. Of coz, Ruco is alot younger than them and more befitting to act those roles. Ruco deserves best actor as much as these 2 veterans.
OH YES! Would love to see Ruco as Hugo, and Hugo should be written to be more evil and despicable.

Totally agree. Think Ruco is the only one befitting to act as Carson in ROE. He’s athletic, handsome, smart, manly….it’s so Carson. This Carson role was like wriiten for Ruco. I fell in love with Ruco after watching ROE. 🙂

It shouldn’t be about giving the award to someone who’s been a contender for years but about giving the award to a deserving actor who gave the best performance. In this case, it’s either Roger Kwok, Wayne Lai or Steven Ma, who was most likely forgotten due to early airing of SIAC.
Ruco is the always the best of the best.

I can’t believe we had missed him before 2011 when he acted in The Other Truth. If he was heavily used earlier by TVB, think his popularity would have soared way past Raymond Lam! He’s much more talented and a better actor than Raymond. I don’t hate Raymond but Ruco is definitely a better actor than Raymond.
Ruco is smart. The earlier Kenneth gets the best actor award, the earlier he can get the award. I think next year will be Kenneth’s year. He has 3 solid dramas with good roles.
Have been reading all these Ruco fans posts lately and booming too with seriously OTT praises that is approaching Raymond Lam territory. Look, I love Ruco and I love ROE and I love Ruco is getting recognition and I do feel there are some roles that should be his instead of being typecast these days, like Hugo in Overachievers. Ruco represents sexy, which is what Hugo is,unfortunately he seems forever stuck in smaller production and smaller cast. Well he can learn more. But as for best actor over Roger and Wayne? That is a disservice to Ruco to say that. Ruco should learn from these 2, not to be compared to them. His level of comparison should be with Raymond Wong, Edwin Siu and the likes and believe me, Ruco is a step above them all. But no he is not ready for best actor yet, whether legitimate fan votes, vote rigging or voting by peers. No one can deny Roger was sensational in BHWS, no one can deny Wayne was sublime in Overachievers. I give Ruco 2 more years and a more breakthrough role, I am sure he will win his best actor some day. BUT not today. Now it depends on Eye In The Sky. Not quite hopeful with Captain Of Destiny. Until then, maybe tone down a bit on the OTT “Ruco is the greatest” comments and “deserves best actor over ABC” declarations. It will only annoy a lot of people who will turn off the TV, which they do whenever they don’t like his costars.
No offence but why do you always like to comment like you know best? Good acting is a very subjective matter. One man’s meat is another man’s poison.

I was just wondering why Ruco Chan (unlike LF) seems to be stuck in smaller productions the other day. Then, it dawned on me that maybe it’s because Ruco can carry/handle a drama series by himself better than LF, who “needs” tons of other supporting cast to help make him look not bad.
Similar to Moses. He is in mostly big productions but that is because I believe he can’t lead. But Raymond Wong enjoys being in both and I hope ruco had the diverse roles that Raymond Wong has.
Lf wad in snake productions. Lets not compare them. Can’t win. Lf at his best is a very good actor but now he has stopped improving
needs his acting mojo back.
I agree with funn that we, as fans of Ruco,should do him a favour by toning down OTT declarations about him in public platforms so as not to irritate non -Ruco fans.
