Almost 100 fans from all over the world attended a barbecue party to celebrate Ruco Chan’s (陳展鵬) 37th birthday, which falls on January 14, in Hong Kong.

For his birthday wish, The Other Truth <真相> star expressed that he wished for a healthy and happy 2013, as well as wishing for best luck in his career. After breaking up with ATV actress, Eunis Yiu (姚佳雯), in 2010, Ruco has remained single. As for whether or not the actor wished to find a new girlfriend in 2013, Ruco said, “Leave everything to fate. I am not in a hurry!”

Currently with four dramas waiting for broadcast in Hong Kong, Ruco Chan was foreseen by critics to be one of the biggest rising stars of 2013. Ruco’s first drama to air in 2013, Reality Check <心路 GPS>, will premiere on February 18 on TVB’s Jade and HD Jade channels.

Other dramas that are waiting for broadcast this year are Ruse of Engagement <叛逃>Love Exceeds the Coastline <情越海岸線>, and Brother’s Keeper <巨輪>.

    1. Funn,
Poor Ruco has been filming series back-to-back non-stop for almost the entire year. He filmed the most series out of the siu sangs last year.

Perhaps you can spot him when he films in Malaysia, as I’m sure one of the local malls will capitalize on his filming on location.

      1. You know, in final episode of Missing You, Jason Chan ran a lot and he ran convincingly. His bag may get a Jaynezies but his running is Oscar type. And I was thinking he won’t be able to run like that come end of the year when TVB piles series upon series on him.

Anyway he looks like a runner but doesn’t look like a backpacker.

        Which part in Malaysia?

      2. Funn,
        Jaynezies? Objects/props need recognition?

Not sure which part in Malaysia Ruco will be filming in. Although I’m sure there should be some scenes in Kuala Lumpur given that he is a tour guide in the series.

      3. What I was trying to say is TVB redefines exhaustion which is it doesn’t exist. So yes poor Ruco. But he needs to bulk up, not slim more.

    1. Me, too. Ruco has been filming very small productions in the whole year of 2012. No matter how good his acting is, he will not be nominated for Best Actor.

      1. well at least ruco is getting leading roles and he might be the next kevin cheng cos he film amy series onlly

      1. Supposed to be! But I have some doubts because he is paired up with Linda Chung.

      2. @ sandcherry

You have doubts because you felt Linda Chung can’t lead a big production?

Remember that many top fadans of the 90s already left TVB. Linda, Tavia, Myolie, Fala are the new top fadans of TVB. So, having Linda lead a big production is not that far-fetch.

      3. Agree. But TVB did not seem to promote Linda Chung much in the last few years. Linda started acting before Fala Chen and Kate Tsui, but TVB seemed to promote Kate and Fala more. Linda usually acted some “next door girl” roles so far.

      4. Maybe the other fadans are fully booked. So, can only cast Linda.

      5. If Tavia can be seen as a lead then Linda can. I just hope she plays a happy optimistic perky skipping girl.

      6. @Funn: “I just hope she plays a happy optimistic perky skipping girl.”

isn’t that what we see in ALL of her series? -.-

  1. I like him very much looking forward to his roles. I wish he paired up with niki instead

    1. Niki not in this one but hopefully they can collaborate in another one

    2. You mean Niki Chow. Good idea! She is a lot better than Priscilla Wong and Selena Li or Aimee Chan.

      1. agree,niki has a classy charm,that many tvb fadan’s doesnt have.

  2. ruco may be TV King highly promoted by TVB soon as others siu sang has either gone mainland or singing…Ruco advantage is his height, good-look & lady-killer body… perfect perfect…

  3. I wonder where in Malaysia they will film!

Also, “Big Wheel” is now called “Brother’s Keeper”?!

  4. Eh, I prefer quality over quantity. I feel like TVB is playing it safe with Ruco. He’s been filming a lot, but more small-budget. He’s kinda like Linda.

  5. Love Ruco.. he doesn’t need to lose weight.. buffing up is fine! Too skinny already!!! Please take care of your health Ruco!

  6. The only things I’m looking forward to in this series are Ruco Chan and Elaine Yiu.

  7. We haven’t really seen Elaine Yiu in an actual role ever since Bottled Passion I believe. It was BP that made me like her more as an actress. Seems like she’s doing some hosting on the side and she appeared as a guest star in Missing You.

Hope Elaine has a meaty role in Big Wheel.

    1. Elaine Yiu did very well in BP. I hope TVB would promote her more in drama series. Though she is not very pretty, she acts very well in her roles.

    2. Elaine got a lot better, after seeing her guest star in Missing You. I thought she did great in Missing You! She got a lot more prettier as well. She’s TVB’s underrated actresses, who like others don’t get the opportunities they need.

  8. Looks like we’re gonna be seeing a lot of Ruco Chan, and also Jason Chan lol. Ruco is meh in my book, hasn’t distinguished himself enough yet. But he’s moving up the ladder pretty fast.

    1. Ruco Chan has been an actor for over 18 years and has tons of acting experience. It is quite logical for him to move up especially TVB is lack of good acting siu sangs now.
