S.H.E’s Ella Welcomes Baby Boy!
It’s a boy! Ella Chen (陳嘉樺) of the Taiwanese female trio S.H.E has shared on social media that she has delivered a baby boy, nicknamed Jingbao (勁寶)—or Strong Baby—on Wednesday, April 12, in Taiwan.
The 35-year-old said on Facebook, “Thank you all for your blessings. Yesterday afternoon, accompanied by my beloved sisters and family (it’s the first time a deliver room was this crowded—this mother loves a lively atmosphere), I gave birth safely to the first baby of my life. It’s such a fascinating feeling!”
The singer revealed in her post that she originally wanted a water birth, but failed to do so as her cervix was unsuitable for a safe delivery in water. She opted to deliver naturally without an epidural. “It was very, very, very painful,” wrote Ella, “but a strong mother once told me that as long as I fight with all my heart, the baby will come!”
Because Jingbao choked on meconium and amniotic fluid, he had to be put on a respirator. Ella assured everyone that he is fine.
Ella’s S.H.E bandmates, Selina Jen (任家萱) and Hebe Tien (田馥甄), were in the delivery room with her.
In 2012, Ella married 40-year-old Malaysian businessman Alvin Lai (賴斯翔). The couple announced that they were expecting in October 2016.
