Shirley Yeung Earns More Money After Leaving TVB

Leaving TVB in May after 13 years of employment, Shirley Yeung (楊思琦) decided to pursue other career opportunities. Due to her cheerful personality and curvaceous figure, Shirley has become a popular guest at Mainland promotional events. Finding success in China, Shirley reportedly earns 200,000 RMB per month. Estimated to have pocketed over 3 million RMB since leaving TVB, Shirley did not deny the claims and simply stated that her income has been ideal so far.

Shirley’s frugal nature allowed the single mother to invest her savings into real estate. Already an owner of two properties in Hong Kong, Shirley purchased a large complex in The Wings IIIA series – newly open properties in the Tseung Kwan O area–under her father’s name.

Denies Tarnished Image

Crowned Miss Hong Kong in 2001, Shirley was highly promoted by TVB and was one of the fastest rising actresses in her era. However, because of her muddled love triangle with TVB actor Gregory Lee (李泳豪) and diver Andy Ng (吳帥), and subsequently giving birth to Andy’s daughter out of wedlock, Shirley’s public image plummeted.

Demoted by TVB to host variety shows and seeing her opportunities at the station continue to slip over the last two years, Shirley decided not to renew her management contract in May.

Shirley’s last drama at TVB is All That Is Bitter Is Sweet <大藥坊>, where she plays Linda Chung’s (鍾嘉欣) stepmother. Denying that her image has been tarnished due to her controversial past, Shirley replied, “Even before giving birth, I didn’t have a lot of series to film already! And if I didn’t know how to act, why would I be given the Best Supporting Actress award for Always Ready <隨時候命>?”

Family Comes First

Although Shirley has always been known to be frugal, she does not skimp on her daughter’s needs. Eager to provide the best education, Shirley revealed that Krystal’s school tuition costs $20,000 HKD a month – an amount Shirley is more than willing to pay for.

While Shirley is working in Mainland, her mother takes care of Shirley’s two-year-old daughter, Krystal. Earlier reports claimed that Shirley has never been on good terms with her greedy mother. Shirley angrily stated that she will fight whoever insults her mother. Without her mother’s help in the last few years, Shirley faces extreme difficulty as a single mother with an erratic work schedule and would not even be able to work in China.

  1. A very strong woman actually! Admire her never-die attitude and her commitment as a mother.

    Support her!

  2. i’m really glad to hear she’s doing well, but this really made me lol:
“[…] if I didn’t know how to act, why would I be given the Best Supporting Actress award for Always Ready ?”

  3. I think when tvb made her Linda Chungs mother that was her last straw. IMO tvb is being ridiculous. Shirley is still beautiful and doesn’t even look older than Linda.

    1. holy cow, she’s Linda’s stepmom not real mom. But i do feel bad for maggie Shiu who’s now acting as Fred Cheng’s and Tony Hung’s mom in 2 upcoming dramas.

    2. Agreed with you, Shirley look too young to be Linda Chung’s mom. They look almost the same age.

      1. Read the above post. In case you didn’t know there’s a difference between mom and stepmom. Mom is the woman who gave birth to you. Stepmom is yr dad’s other wife. If your dad’s a cradle snatcher your stepmom may even be younger than you. Clear enough now?

    3. it’s a past era drama… this period of time, 16 years old girl could be your step mother. I m not supporting tvb… just to let you guy know.

same at siu lung lui, when she almost married to guy that have a girld too.

Great to know Shirley went well after quitting tvb.

  4. Didn’t she get most improve for almost ready but she has always been popular

  5. Let bygones be bygones! Whatever happened to her and Gregory is her personal life. I admire her courage and strength in raising her daughter alone. It shows she’s a strong woman. Kudos to her!

    1. I agree; it’s really great that she is raising her daughter alone and able to ‘pick herself up after falling down’ from all the negative media reports. She has a positive attitude, which I find to be very admirable. Her appearance doesn’t seem to have changed much over the years; she still looks so youthful!

  6. Even she is not an Actress anymore. She will always be Miss Hong Kong 2001.

  7. Seems to be quite a few stories about actors/actresses finding success after cutting ties with TVB. TVB management should be concerned.

  8. Shirley just wanted to settle down since she’s already in her 30’s when all this crap happened. Gregory was not man enough and had a bunch of weird family members. Andy was just a douchebag. It’s okay. If a man in your life is not meant to be, then good riddance. =D

  9. Describing her curvaceous body as the reason why she is popular at Mainland “promotional” events…what are you trying to say? LOL…yes, we’ve all seen the movie Aberdeen and know exactly what you mean…boy…its tough for females to make a buck in the Asian entertainment industry

  10. I’m happy to know she is doing well.. Yes she made a mistake but she appear to be a good mother. So hope her success for sure.

  11. Good for her, hope her career improves further. She needs that break !
