When the world is coming to believe that 36-year-old Shu Qi (舒淇) and 37-year-old Stephen Fung (馮德倫) are now a couple, a recent Weibo post by Shu Qi may flip that all upside down.
On August 3rd, Shu Qi posted on her Weibo, “If love, please love deeply. If forsake, please do it thoroughly. Don’t be ambiguous; it’ll hurt others and yourself. The most regretful thing in life is to let go of something that should not be let go, stubbornly holding onto something that should not be held onto.”
Was it that Shu Qi is unsatisfied with Stephen’s current lax approach in their relationship? Shu Qi also posted, “I thought the little bird could not fly across the sea because the little bird did not have the courage to do so. Then years later I have finally discovered that it is not because the little bird could not fly across, but because no one is waiting for it on the other side of the sea.”
Shu Qi Still Haunted By Her Past
Shu Qi and Stephen Fung’s dating rumors have been on and off since they met on the set of Bishonen <美少年之戀> in 1997. Last month, Shu Qi and Stephen were seen catching the same round-trip flight to Tokyo together. Both parties denied the alleged romance, but tabloids indicated that their trip to Tokyo was in fact a way for Stephen to formally meet Shu Qi’s mother, and to also ask for her hand in marriage.
However, Apple Daily later reported that Stephen’s mother did not want him to date Shu Qi due to her former Category III past. Stephen also never came to Shu Qi’s defense when she was getting attacked by negative rumors.
Shu Qi denied the recent breakup allegations through her manager, who said, “Don’t jump to conclusions. It is just a random (Weibo) post.”
However, Shu Qi’s recent appearances spoke otherwise. After returning to Hong Kong from Tokyo, paparazzi caught Shu Qi in high spirits. She spent quality time at home, putting on facial masks and researching on new skincare routines. A few days ago, when she attended a dinner hosted by Donnie Yen (甄子丹), Wong Jing (王晶), and Andrew Lau (劉偉強), she looked noticeably more haggard. When she saw the paparazzi snapping pictures of her at home, she quickly hid her face with her long hair and a face mask.

Stephen has known Shu Qi for 15 years. Surely that would have given him enough time to figure out whether he can truly accept her past.
Hopefully Shu Qi’s Weibo thoughts do not indicate that she has broken up with Stephen.

Well, guess what, even though she made millions after starting in these movies and re-invented herself. Shu Qi will never shake her past. Call me old fashion, but do you really believe any mother or father would be happy to have a porn star as a daughter-in-law. Shi Qui not only star in porn movies, she did full frontal spread. I don’t think a girl will say that about a guy if she didn’t want to demolish any future, potential romantic rumors with him. Also, Stephen NEVER admitted to dating her. Also, as someone who has known her for 15 years, Stephen does not need anyone bringing Shu Qi’s “past up.” And for the record, what is so shameful about it? Posing nude? Filming erotic films? If you want to be objective about it, it is called art. Some people cannot choose what jobs they get when they first enter the film industry, they have to pay their dues FIRST.
