Spirit of Jessica Hsuan’s Dead Dog Visits Her?

Known to be an animal-lover, Jessica Hsuan (宣萱) felt deep sorrow when her beloved pet dog Liu Liu passed away last Sunday due to liver cancer. At an awards ceremony for an owner-and-dog orienteering competition, Jessica sadly revealed, “Ever since my first dog passed away, this one’s passing hurt the most. They both had a sense of humanity, and are more similar to humans than to dogs.”

Strangely, Jessica had spotted several moths in her house after Liu Liu’s death and believes that they are carrying her dog’s spirit. The moths had also appeared after her first pet passed away. She explained, “Last night, a tiny moth flew in front of my face for five minutes before landing. Liu Liu always listened to Mandarin, so I said to the moth [in Mandarin], ‘If it’s really you, jump onto my hand’. The moth then slowly climbed onto my hand.”

Hong Kong’s renown fortune teller and feng shui master, Mak Ling Ling (麥玲玲), was consulted over the matters. She expressed that it is not impossible for human or animal spirits to return to the world in the form of moths or other insects after death. Mak Ling Ling claimed that moths are most common because they appear at night. “Animals also have emotions, and if they shared a good relationship with their owners, they would want to visit them,” she said. These spiritual visits are apparently more likely to occur during the Double Ninth Festival, Qingming Festival, or within 49 days of the death.

  1. Is she okay?

I hope she visit a psychiatrist if she starts seeing the moth as her dog & think that way

  2. OMG – that’s something my mom will say, and definitely endorse. And everyone in her generation, and older.

This is weird, coming from Jessica, who I always see as some individualistic Westernised thinking, educated modern feminist.
