Tavia Yeung Admits She is a Workaholic

Of the current actresses at TVB, Tavia Yeung (楊怡) is the only one who has received all of the company’s awards in order, including Most Improved Actress, Best Supporting Actress, My Favorite Female Character, and finally, Best Actress. Rather than having the recognition signal a break from work, Tavia sees it as motivation to strive on. Each year, she only continues to work her hardest and make the best out of her new roles.

Receiving awards may be satisfying, but Tavia believes it is the meaning behind these awards that matter. She expressed, “The most important thing is getting the approval of others within this industry and the support from my fans. If you win an award and others are saying you don’t deserve it, then you might as well not win! People must look forward instead of glancing back at how successful they were in the past. I believe trying my best is giving myself a chance.”

A hardworking attitude comes as second nature for Tavia, as she hardly ever stops thinking about work. Even during long-term breaks, she contemplates attending shows or filming advertisements. Agreeing she is a workaholic, Tavia joked, “I always think I’m like a machine that just can’t stop running.”

Despite having portrayed diverse characters, Tavia’s wish is to star in a true comedy. Usually engaged in dramatic or dark storylines, she hopes to film a relaxing drama that will have viewers laugh instead of cry. Currently busy filming for Eye in the Sky <天眼>, Tavia revealed her role does somewhat fulfill her wish to be lighthearted and comical. “There are relaxing portions, since I’m a slovenly homebody private investigator. Filming has been fun and not as tedious!”

A Relationship is Between a Couple, Not the Public

Although it is an open secret, Tavia never admitted to her relationship with Him Law (羅仲謙). She explained, “I never want to talk about my love life, because a relationship is between two people. I want to live like an ordinary person and head out for dinner or catch a movie with my boyfriend. I choose not to publicly announce a relationship, because it’s enough that we’re happy. So if you ask me, I can only say that Him Law is one of my very, very good male friends. We’re very happy and comfortable together, and we’ll let others things take their natural course.”

Tavia said she plans to get married in the future, but there is no current urge to wed. She cherishes the time spent with her mother, and hopes to bring her travelling. Speaking of possibly having her own children in the future, Tavia exclaimed that although she loves children, she is not yet ready to be a mother after witnessing others’ parenting challenges. Tavia added, “My sister has a daughter, and I would play with her when there’s time. It’s the same!”

    1. I was thinking the same thing, she’s starting to look weird.

  1. when watching her dramas these days, I can’t get past her nose

    1. Ha ha ha…totally agree. I can’t bear to watch her dramas now due to her nose. It’s always the focus. It’s sad cos she’s a good actress. Big mistake!

  2. she looks so pretty and natural before all the PS. I love her acting (still do) and natural beauty so much before and was so disappointed what she did to herself. She looks absolutely make on camera.. everything is so tight now. People said PS is addicted. Once you start, you can’t stop, just like drug 🙁

  3. correction:

She looks so unnatural on camera now 🙁

  4. As a fan I wish tavia didn’t change up her looks. However she still looks pretty, just not as natural and beautiful as before.

Regardless tho I still adore her acting!! Her acting is natural and flawless with every role. She demands attention and I love watching her

  5. All that work is wearing her down! Money is important, but take a break every now and then to enjoy life.

    1. I so agree with you on that! When you look worn out from overworking you depend on more make-up, other methods go enhance your looks.

    2. well by the sounds of it, seems like she’s expressing that she finds work enjoyable despite working a lot, I dont think she’s working purely for the money… Work has become her life really. In such an unpredictable industry, i dont see why its particularly bad to consistently work-of course breaks should be necessary, but by the looks of it she’s balancing and enjoying her life anyway. Enjoying life doesnt mean work has to slow down imo 🙂

  6. She looks lovely in the above picture. Longer hair and a fuller face suits her. The jaw and jawline seems different.

      1. 2 years ago? So it means now she is slimmer in her face? That’s why I see a difference?

    1. Yes indeed. Although I think her make up is still a tad too thick. HK make up artists need some tips and lessons from Korea, their make up is more natural.

      1. Well at least in all the Korea drama right now, none wear those big long fake eyelashes like Kate, LOL!

  7. Well, I guess more surgery to come as she’s with a much younger guy. But I really hope she would stop going under the knife before it’s “really” too late.

  8. Pretty soon, her face will fell off and Him will have to carry the rubbish into the surgery room.

  9. I still like Tavia alot even tho she did a lil change to her facial features but she does alot more prettier back then Blah…….who care’s she’s still top of my list out of all the female artist

  10. Love Tavia’s acting and her expressive eyes! But something is wrong with this picture. Too much make-up perhaps?

  11. If Tavia is addicted to work now, she’d better be psychologically and physically prepared for the rigors or a breakdown in either or both categories may occur. All the riches and fame can not be substituted for good health and mental stability. I wish her the best!

  12. Tavia is lovely. I didn’t realize she was so chatty until I saw the video clips on Eye in the Sky. She seems to put people at ease with her informality. Doesn’t seem to age too.

    1. Plastic doesn’t age. It’s not biodegradable. Anyway just joking. She seems like a nice person who puts others at ease though those who don’t like her will probably call her fake.

  13. She looks too mature for her age. Almost looking old even these days. And she seem to either wear too much foundation, which doesn’t help either. The nose is bothering me less now, maybe because I’m use to seeing it. The pic above of her is unflattering.

    1. Agreed, sometimes she even looks older than charmaine

    2. Hi, just wondering what’s so unflattering about the picture above. Everyone is saying she looks bad here, but I think she looks fine here? Maybe I have low standards…

    3. “She looks too mature for her age. ” what, everyone ages differently, u cant compare /determine how mature one should look at a certain ageLOL

      1. Haha if everyone aged the same, then there wouldn’t be a need to say she looks too mature/old for her age, wouldn’t it? Comparison among others is a natural thing that comes to mind. It’s natural to see Tavia and think about other artists who are around her age (e.g., Myolie, Nancy, etc.) and see how they fare. Age, like many other things, are relative. If someone looks rather young for their age, then there is bound to be someone who looks rather old for their age. It’s an observation, not really intended to determine how she looks at this age.

  14. Tavia certainly deserves all her awards. Even from her initial dramas, she was already very good. These certainly reflects her attitude of hardwork & giving of her best. Tavia makes the effort to look & act different & distinctively for every role in all the respective dramas. You wont find her in a stalemate type of role or hairstyle. Shows how pro & serious she is in her acting. She’s also one of current fadans who didnt ride on being a popular Ms.HK to work her way to be TV Queen. Every step was hardwork, and even tears when she had to work thru illness eg. In The Truth, Sweetness In The Salt, and even Storm In A Cocoon where she was hospitalised. But all said, her acting has always been good. I can watch & rewatch all her dramas, never bored 🙂 keep up the good work Tavia! Sapport always 🙂

  15. Love Tavia workaholic attitude coz I’ m a workaholic too…Hi five..

  16. She look older then her age. I think she should take a break n chillax.

  17. Yeah she was so pretty already. She should have not done anything to her nose. STILL, I like her acting. I have been re watch MOon Light Resonance and she was GREAT in it as the adopted daughter especially when she got blamed for all the stuff she did NOT do, all the scenes were very touching.

    1. Yes, i like her in MR too.. she looked so pretty with her shorter hairstyle. My sisters also commented that she is pretty.

  18. http://m.56.com/view…E5OTQyNjc1.html

Cute & humorous Tavia, behind the scenes of new drama Sky Eye. Looks like in real person she’s easy to get along with for all co-stars, playful & shy too 🙂

  19. You need a sense of humor to survive i the entertainment business. Look at Benz Hui. He is going strong!

  20. I don’t understand why she has to do plastic surgery. I always thought she’s very pretty from her debut. Her acting has been consistently good since the beginning too. I wonder if she did it to change her “fate;” like how some change their names (e.i. Raymond Wong) or does fung shui stuff to get luck. Regardless, she’s the best lead actress in tvb at the moment for me.

  21. Love watching Tavia on screen she’s the best lead actress in tvb right now, love her acting
