Raymond Lam (林峯), Kenneth Ma (馬國明), Tavia Yeung (楊怡), and Sharon Chan (陳敏之) attended yesterday’s promotional event for TVB’s upcoming time travel drama, Three Kingdoms RPG <回到三國>, in Diamond Hill. Tavia has recently been busy filming drama after drama and admitted that it has been a while since she last went on vacation. As for reports indicating that Tavia is living in with rumored boyfriend, Him Law (羅仲謙), she denied them and said, “I’ve been living with my mother for many years!”
Kenneth, who portrays the time traveling protagonist, “Vincent Szema,” will be romantically involved with the housemaid “Song Yau,” portrayed by Tavia. According to Kenneth, there will be many humorous scenes dealing with his character teaching contemporary dialogue and trendy vocabulary to the historical characters. “I’ll teach them how to curse, and they’ll actually listen to me and use them in arguments!”
Sharon remarked that it was a challenge to portray “Xiao Qiao,” the wife of Ruco Chan’s (陳展鵬) character “Zhou Yu.” She said, “My character has princess syndrome. It’s a challenge because I have to be cute without being too irritating.”
Raymond Lam Hates His Mustache
Recently, TVB dramas have consistently used the name “Chok Fung” to ridicule Raymond. He said helplessly, “Thank you to all the scriptwriters for their love!” Asked if Raymond is the leading representative of “chok,” he immediately replied, “That’s silly, there are still many seniors ahead of me that deserve the name more!”
Raymond, who portrays the legendary historical figure “Zhuge Liang,” said the hardest part of his role was not the portrayal itself, but his fake mustache. “The cast often hung out and joked around with each other during filming breaks, but none of us dared to laugh because once we do, our mustaches would fall off! It’s really difficult. We can only smile with our eyes!” He further expressed that he never cared about the ratings of his dramas, but commented that Three Kingdoms RPG has an extremely comedic storyline.
Viewers can start traveling back in time with Kenneth Ma starting July 9th when Three Kingdoms RPG airs in Hong Kong!

I agree with you to some extent a-pop,however, if the actor/actress does not look his/her role then even if their acting is good, it would still be awkward. It is kind of like if you casted a not so great looking actress in the role of Lin xian er(the most beautiful woman in Gu Long’s universe), it just would not look or feel right. You know what I mean??

I think Raymond and Ruco suit their respective roles in Three Kingdoms RPG well. Raymond has a lovely poetic voice that suits the role of Zhuge Liang. He plays scholars well; there is a gentleness about his manners (including in the way he speaks in interviews), likely a product of good family upbringing.

Yes, he definitely has a soft and soothing voice which is why I really enjoy listening to him sing and his songs are really good, both slow and fast ones.
He’s a great actor and singer and I’m a huge fan of his but I actually prefer his singing over his acting over the last few years. His acting seems to have remained stagnant while his singing and songs are getting better by the day. He always had a wonderful voice and sang well in his earlier days but he is a lot stronger now with his singing and also sings with great emotions drawing you into the song.
Hopefully I’ll see a great performance from him in Three Kingdoms but I’m not expecting a brilliant performance since it was during the Mavis scandal. There’s also High and Lows which I’m really eager to see so maybe he will prove me wrong in this series and win an award from it. Go LF!

Ruco will be a miscast as Zhuge Liang. Ray looks ok as Zhuge Liang but I am more concerned about his interpretation of Zhuge Liang as someone so serious he doesn’t know the word fun. I actually do like Takeshi Kaneishiro’s interpretation of Zhuge Liang-he made Zhuge Liang cute and I would have wished he had more scenes.
I can see that they both suit the role they are in. But if they switch, interesting. Wanna see how they do tat.

Just reading about using modern day vocabulary in ancient times makes me laugh, especially with Ma Ming’s delivery. I find him to be adorable in such roles.

The guys role base on character description sure interesting enough. Female casts I will not evaluate them as not intersting enough. If female lead is weak, would she able to produce good chemistry with her co-actors. One hand cant claps it’s own. I’m also wait to see how Sharon and Kaki Leong will perform.

I don’t think we should expect much from the female cast because this is a pretty male dominated series. As a tavia fan I’m also not expecting much out of her character because her character is made up and really is only there to add a love story with Kenneth’s character.
Indeed 3K men roles are more interesting and important than the females, so I don’t expect anything from the females too.

I really liked Joyce Tang’s character though. Jessica Hsuan’s character was annoying, Sonija Kwok’s character was too perfect (and therefore boring), and like you said, Michelle Saram’s character was too bland. I was disappointed that Louis Koo ended up with Jessica in the end. I can’t find any reason to why Louis had fallen for her. IMO, I think it was because he felt like he had to protect her, and not because he really fell for her.
I doubt Three Kingdoms RPG will get as entertaining as A Step into the Past, but who knows? Maybe it’ll surprise me.
I also liked TVB’s other time traveling drama, The King of Yesterday and Tomorrow. The triangle dragged the storyline a bit, but it was a funny show while it lasted.

I think the ratings and watching rate might be high though, because many of the cast have huge fan numbers and this will be suitable for a family series.

Such as in A Fistful of Stances, even though she just guess appearance ,but her acting there drove me into her character especially the scene she begged the Wing Tak and police officers dun drag her into mental institution. That scene and another scene where she chased the train to get back her kidnapped son make me rolled my tear
(at that time I still not her fans but I impress with her performance)
After watching On Call. she give me impression that she have develop capability to lead the series herself with and another co-actor. I feel that she can produce a proper expression as feedback to her co-partner .For the last few episode of On Call ,beside I wow at Kenneth performance, but I also drove by Tavia into her character and performance.
Hence ,IMO. she still can act but people just feel bored to watch her same person with same hairstyle therefore complained her have same bored acting.
too add in more, the in one of the On Call 2nd last episode scene where Tavia & Kenneth make confrontation on seaside, (deja vu of Mystery OF love) , the scene where she shouted at Kenneth not to talked further anymore and cried asked him if she can for not having surgery. That scene prooved another higher level of Tavia acting skilled compare her performance in Sai Lei Mui

I do think there is a general accepted level of what is called a beauty. Tavia is of course pretty and I prefer her pre-surgery to tell you the truth. I can still remember some of her fine performances. But sometimes you’re not suitable, you’re not suitable. Oh don’t mention BTROC. That was the series that made her talent a mockery, in part the character was badly written but mostly because she was awful. I also blame the director.
I think why we feel she is not up to par is because we have high expectations but mostly because she is everywhere and to me over exposure is bad, more so when one group of us believe that she has no leading lady qualities.
to each own opinion. ma ming imo wowed audience in hippocratic, but imo tavia is basically the same kind of acting and expressions she has done in many different roles and series.

I disagree that Tavia look old in 3 Kingdom. Yes, Tavia might look very mature in some series. But, from the promo clip and trailer of 3 Kingdom that I have watched, Tavia look young.
For the purpose of her character she is too old for this role. 23 is stretching it. Maybe she should have played a widow, someone whose husband died and her age can be adjusted to her current age. And since Kenneth is supposed to be a modern guy he wouldn’t have mind that fact.

I’m watching this drama for the sake that it involves time-travelling. Personally, I have no interest in the Three Kingdoms and the history involved with it. The cast is pretty nice, but I’m mainly watching it for Raymond & Tavia here. Honestly, Tavia is one of the only actresses left at TVB who can actually act.
