Tavia Yeung’s Slow Rise to Stardom
In the entertainment industry for 16 years, 35-year-old Tavia Yeung (楊怡) has persisted through hard work to achieve her Best Actress status. Tavia admitted that due to her low ambitions, her rise to stardom was slow. “I don’t consider myself a celebrity, because I am only trying to perform well at a job. I’ve spent a lot of time showing everyone my progression from an amateur actress to my development of acting skills.”
Sacrificing Health for Career
Although she has successfully achieved star status through her hard work, Tavia admitted that she exchanged her health for her career. “The worst was when I would have a cold every two months and never fully recover. My menstruation was irregular and I was breaking out a lot. Moreover, acting in ancient dramas caused a lot of back and neck aches!” Tavia recounted that the pain was so excruciating at times that she would be unable to sleep at night.
In addition to her worsening physical health, Tavia also revealed that she was plagued by emotional anxiety. During filming of The Other Truth <真相>, she was unable to contain her emotions onset and burst into tears during filming. However, she has since learned how to better take care of herself and would ask for vacation time, to prevent another breakdown.
Rumors with Him Law
Although Tavia often avoided media attention and evaded gossip, she inadvertently became front page news when photographed in a controversial position in the car with rumored boyfriend, Him Law (羅仲謙). “This incident affected my relationship with the media. Most importantly, it affected my images as well as my family. At the time, I felt like the world was going to end.”
Having gone through the experience together, Tavia and Him’s relationship became more secure. “After this incident, we established a trusting attitude and will face issues together. A lot of people talk about how he is younger than me, but he is actually very mature.”
Although Tavia’s relationship with Him is an open secret, the couple never admitted nor denied their relationship. Tavia explained, “I feel that our mutual support and silent encouragement of each other is more important than publicly announcing that we belong to each other. Him and I place more emphasis on what’s inside our hearts.”

Well I can’t get over how repeatitive people can be at constantly commenting on her nose in almost every single article about her. Big or small, pointy or long, She has a nose, that’s great, move on.

I hate her nose! I just cant stop focusing on her big nose while watching her in Noblesse Oblige!! Putting Cilla Kung as Wai Yu beside Tavia, all the time was a very bad decision. It makes Tavia’s head looks as big as a pumpkin.
Then stop watching the series if her nose is that annoying ? It will save you from the energy you use to complain about her nose at least.
Too bad for her, after she made the decision to gone under the knife and not admitting to it, there’s will always be backslash. I’ve been supporting Tavia since 1999. And I hate to say this, her acting has gone downhill ever since she got that “Pinocchio nose’…I sincerely hope she could revert her nose back to normal…
Well it sounds like you’re justifying your opinion of her acting performance with her appearance, which I don’t see how her nose has anything to do with how she can act. It’s not like if she, what you wish she would do, ‘revert’ herself back to her so called ‘normal’ nose, her acting would all of a sudden change looool. As you claim yourself to be such a long time supporter, I also don’t see how youre supporting her by criticising her appearance against her acting really. not saying supporters can’t express constructive criticism, but it’s all bashing her nose and looks so far looool.
Well if you didn’t notices that her acting for these past few years wasn’t very good, I guess you don’t watch her dramas much…I like Tavia but if her acting sucks then I will say she sucks. I’m a supporter of her not some stupid fan. But if you want compare her acting skills to Kate Tsui or Linda Chung, then Tavia is good. When you are watching a person’s acting, looks are important. Its a package.
Go watch Storm in a Cocoon, Jo. Tavia’s acting was good there.
Being a tavia fan, i think that she is overworked.
TVB needs to stop arranging drama after drama for her. Idk if artist gets a choice but tavia needs to be more selective of her roles to ensure quality in her acting.
Im not saying shes not doing well cause i think shes a great actress.. I would just like her to take on different more challenging roles.
I hope she gets casted in more grand productions rather than small potato dramas that have obvious plots
Tavia doesn’t dabble into music or movies. She also doesn’t film in Mainland. If she isn’t filming for TVB, then what else would she be doing? She could be more selective, but Tavia doesn’t have that many years left. I don’t see her carrying on with her career after marriage.
Tavia has great acting skills, versatile in any role given to her. She’s filial, humble, friendly and has so many friends in the industry as she gets on well with all her costars & even crews, full of humor, down to earth, great personality, even has a beautiful singing voice, sexy, glamorous & fun. She’s the best & nothing changes that. She just needs another break thru role & be queen again. She puts in 100% in all her works. Go Tavia go!
For those of us who have been watching TVB dramas for years now, Tavia is one actress that truly blossomed over time. She had never try to use underhand tactics ( we all know of some who only act with their boobs or long legs )to gain popularity and it was really through hard work that she got to be where she is today. She gratefully took on the small roles, then gradually moved to more significant roles and by the time she became a female lead, she did so effortlessly, all because she had put in alot of hard work and sacrifice. And yet, she remained as humble as before. Her incident with Him Law was unfortunate (though they did nothing wrong, after all both are singles and in love) but that should not be held against her. Others had committed even damaging sins and yet forgiven quickly. At the moment, Tavia is still the best lead actress in TVB, especially when compared to the likes of Linda Chung and Kate Tsui.
I admire her persistency and work ethics. She seems humble and down to earth. She can definitely act, looking forward to her upcoming dramas!
I met several TVB artists in person before, and Tavia is definitely one of my fave artists out there. She’s so kind and friendly and very easy to talk to. Tavia does not carry a diva attitude like some other celebs and is a down-to-earth person.

I use to think Tavia was very pretty, not sure what happened but regardless she is one of the better actresses at TVB along with Charmaine. Way better than Linda, Kate, Sharon, Myolie, etc.

Tavia is still very pretty. She was glamourous, elegant & sexy in both the Astro Malaysian awards event & also at the Tvb annual awards. She was most recently in Singapore for a concert & she had great stage presence & beautiful. Tavia is amazing. She works really hard & not pressured to use “short cuts” to stardom. All pure hardwork of sharpening her acting skills. She has not failed to deliver great acting in Every drama. Kudos to her. She didnt even bowed to pressure when people criticised her personal relationship. As successful as she is, she accepted & gets along well with her bf & many many friends & fans. She is confident of herself amidst various critics accusing her of ps. Whatever it is, Tavia is to be admired for her perseverance, strength, beauty outwardly & inwardly. She deserves her hard earned success and fans shd support her all the way. A little physical change hasnt changed her personality, and beauty inwardly. Sapport you all the way, beautiful Tavia!

Actually, it does not matter to TVB whether they have good actresses, they will just cast the ones to be promoted 0r those with muscle power??? Tavia is good, all things nice and sweet (not sugar sweet, just nicely sweet, and all the goods things said about her above. A pity about Him and her (would be better her & MM, as MM was obviously interested in her, better match?)???

Tavia is superb in episode 16 of Noblesse Oblige. Her versatility shines forth. Great acting! She’s just so good in every role, every drama. Cant wait to watch more forthcoming dramas Eye in the Sky, Wudang Worship etc 🙂
