Tired of Fiance’s Lies, Ellen Chan Ends Relationship

Last month, Ellen Chan (陳雅倫) happily announced that she has found her “Mr. Right” in Daniel Wu‘s (吳彥祖) cousin Martin. Since their engagement, Martin had long periods of absences and often lied. Angered by her fiance’s behavior, Ellen has officially called off their relationship.

Dating for six months, Ellen openly talked about her relationship with Martin when the press spotted them on a date together last month. While the two was planning to tie the knot at the end of this year, intimate pictures of Martin and Charlie Chan‘s (陳惠敏) daughter, Didi Chan (陳鳳儀), began circulating online.

Two Faced – Before and After Becoming Official

Responding to the breakup, Ellen said she put an end to the relationship. She admitted that she had suggested breaking up five times in the past, only to have caved in to Martin’s persistence. However, Ellen said this was the final straw and she has given up all hope on the man. Stating that he was full of lies, Ellen talked about how Martin often fibbed and appeared very flaky after their relationship went public.

She sighed, “He wasn’t like this when he was pursuing me – he was very sweet then. But love is blind. After going public with our relationship, he turned into a completely different person.”

Ellen said for example, Martin disappeared for 24-hours one time without saying anything. During those times, Ellen was not able to reach Martin at all. When she confronted him one time, Martin told her that he spent the night at the hospital and did not tell her because he did not want to have an argument about the issue.

It turned out that during the times when Martin appeared to be “missing”, he was photographed partying at bars and clubs.

“Good to Sweat Out All the Garbage”

Heartbroken by Martin’s many lies, Ellen reflected on the end of their relationship as a “cleansing” for her soul.

She posted a heartfelt message on her personal blog, “I just came back to Hong Kong and I was sick previously. My body has accumulated a lot of toxins and that’s why I’ve been exercising more these days – hopefully to sweat out all the garbage and toxins. Afterwards, I feel very relaxed and I’ve returned to my old self. This also applies to everyday life – don’t carry such a big weight, and just move forward towards your goal. Women have to be strong, it’s the only way to protect yourself.

“So what if I’m over 50? I’m proud. Like my mom always says, don’t just marry for the sake of marrying. If you marry the wrong guy, you’ll spend your days crying and in the end, only you will suffer! The biggest accomplishment is to be an independent, strong willed, career-oriented, wealthy, and beautiful woman! I still have to handle all these busy little bees that have been following me around! Happiness is very simple.”
