Tony Hung, Grace Chan Hope to Win Most Improved
The TVB Anniversary Awards will be held on December 13, 2015. Aside from the TV King and Queen awards, many viewers are also looking forward to seeing who will win Most Improved Male and Female Artist. This year, twelve artists are nominated for the category, two more than previous years.
Grace Chan (陳凱琳) will be competing against Tracy Chu (朱千雪), Rosina Lam (林夏薇), Ali Lee (李佳芯), Jacqueline Wong (黃心穎), and Rebecca Zhu (朱晨麗) for Most Improved Female Artist. The former Miss Hong Kong winner is nominated for her lead performances in Raising the Bar <四個女仔三個BAR> and the TVB anniversary drama, Captain of Destiny <張保仔>.
This year is Grace’s second year to be nominated for Most Improved Female Artist. The 24-year-old expressed her confidence at winning, explaining that 2015 has been a very productive and eye-opening year for her. Captain of Destiny was her first drama as a lead actress, and although her performance was panned by critics, it gave her more career opportunities.
“This is a very important award for me,” said Grace. “Many things have happened this year, and I’ve received more opportunities this year compared to last year. Whether it’s filming dramas or hosting, I do hope to continue improving. I also believe that everyone has seen my improvements and hard work.”
Grace Chan supports her Captain of Destiny costar, Tony Hung (洪永城), to win Most Improved Male Artist. Before he dabbed into acting, the 32-year-old was best-known for his travelogue programs. His travel series Not Far But Away <在那遙遠的地方> won My Favorite TVB Variety Program in Singapore this year.
2015 was a breakthrough year for Tony, who landed his first lead drama with Captain of Destiny. The actor considers the anniversary drama, which won My Favorite TVB Drama in Singapore and Malaysia, to be his representative work. He hopes to continue achieving breakthroughs in the future.
Tony expressed that he is facing strong competition this year for the Most Improved Male Artist award, but he has confidence in himself. “I am happy to be able to compete for this award with Benjamin Yuen (袁偉豪), William Chak (翟威廉), and Mat Yeung (楊明),” he said.

I will definitely vote for Ali Li or Jacquline Wong for most improved actress and for the male actor Matt Yeung or Benjamine Yuen so good luck to them.

Grace lost last year. If TVB is bias, they will give it to her this year
I vote for Jacqueline Wong, Tracy Chu or Rosina Lam.
@celin Haha Grace lost to Priscilla Wong last year. It was a fair win and TVB was promoting Priscilla to lead roles quickly before some politics got in the way and she was suddenly frozen. Not sure if that’s been undone haha.
Grace is quite honest about wanting the award. In the past, artists have been more humble even if they knew they were the most qualified one.
I think Grace will win but more due to favoritism and that’s only to be expected when she already received her first lead role in her second year of acting.
My personal vote for Most Improved is Tony and Tracy. Jacqueline is very natural too, but just haven’t received enough buzz. If Jacqueline won and Grace didn’t, that’ll be weird even though Jacqueline is a more natural actress to be quite frank.
i think rosina , tracy or jacqueline should win instead
@hamster37 totally agree. grace can be honest in expressing her wish to win but she hasn’t reached the level of being ‘most improved’.

@freedalas lol when did TVB ever had a sense of fairness though? People with more experience and act way better are stuck with secondary or supporting roles but then people like Grace and Tony are automatically put into lead roles when they have no acting experience and should be in those supporting roles instead for another few more years before launching them back into lead roles.
While I won’t bash on Tony too much for COD, Grace was beyond annoying and just couldn’t stand her when she was on screen. Not really sure about Rosina and Matt winning Most Improved as I have not watched Momentarily Lapse of Reason.

Grace’s desire for this award kind of confuses me, to be honest. She knew she got a lot of criticism for COD and believes she’s improved from it, but COD was the latest drama she’s been in. So no, we have NOT seen any improvement (only digression if you actually compare Raising the Bar to Captain of Destiny).
If I were her, I would rather win when I’ve actually shown some improvement. She seems awfully confident in her acting skills. Even Sisley, who’s had more leads, isn’t pining for this. I don’t know why but it just makes me dislike her even more.
@ayyh0 She is hinting that whatever she does, she has never fail before. She can’t accept failure. So nominated MI for the second time, she can’t fail this time. But she has forgotten she is a celebrity and that the final judgement is always come from the audiences even though she has some “big guns” supporting her in TVB. She has to learn to talk humbly. Sometimes, to be frank, may get backlash.
@ayyh0: Beats me too!! She was criticized big time for her acting in COD and even publicly by Anthony Wong. She also admitted her acting needs improvement, so I am puzzled why she expressed her desire to win Most Improved? Is she in denial or being just plain politically correct? ie, to be always positive on the façade?
If there was no Captain of Destiny then I go would too have supported Tony Hung and Grace Chan for most improved since I was impressed by Grace Chan for Raising the Bar and Tony Hung at Eye in the Sky. But Captain of Destiny showed they deproved so not them for this year.
Tony’s acting has no improvement at all. Now watching his role as a nurse. Still like a log. A irritating log to be exact.
How can Grace get most improve??? Improve from???? She should aim for next year, when she has more experience and some thing to compare in the first place!!!

Even though I like Grace, I’m afraid she doesn’t deserve it yet. Her COD role was worse than her Raising the Bar role.
I think Rosina Lin is a more deserving winner. She has shown improvement over recent roles.

How could she be nominated for her first drama for most improved? You can’t see her improvement with one drama. Also, didn’t everyone say her acting was terrible in Captain of Destiny/Cheung Po Tsai? I also read that people said her acting was getting more terrible and OTT. I dont have confidence in Grace or Sisley to win, I truly support Rosina in winning the award..

BUT please don’t give the Most Improved to Grace…there are actresses more deserving of this award than her.
@freedalas: agree totally!! Grace acts better opposite Ruco. Gotta give Ruco credit for her better acting coz he probably helped her to improve and made her more bearable to watch. And yes, she has no chemistry with Tony…their love looked so put on. Whereas with Ruco, she looks more in love with him. Can’t blame her…Ruco is good looking and obviously more palatable than Tony! LOL. Actually, during the blessing ceremony of COD (before they started filming), Grace did openly expressed her desire to act with Ruco after watching BK. She did say she was very happy and looking forward to acting with Ruco. In another snippet, she also said that she was nervous and felt like a little girl/fan meeting a movie star when acting with Ruco (words to that effect).
It is a travesty if Grace and Tony both won Most Improved awards.

So many hatred. Give them a break will you guys. No need to be so harsh. They are just hoping and its not that they will be given the award from that. I hope someday they could. And also, They have their own fanbase too even it is not as large as Ruco’s. So dont just based by that, That COD has viewership due to Ruco alone.
