Wallace Huo to Star in Suspense Thriller “Hide and Seek”

Taiwanese actor Wallace Huo (霍建華) will star in the upcoming suspense thriller, Hide and Seek <捉迷藏>, which is currently filming in Qingdao.

In Hide and Seek, Wallace portrays a clean freak who enjoys a successful professional career, as well as a happy and comfortable life. One day, he hears that his older brother has gone missing for several months, so he goes to his brother’s apartment. There, he discovers that the residence has been marked all over with a mysterious symbol.

Later, Wallace’s character discovers that the same symbol has appeared outside his own home. With danger lurking from all sides, he must unearth the meaning behind the symbol before insanity overtakes him and his own secrets are unveiled.

Hide and Seek marks the first collaboration between Wallace and mainland Chinese director Liu Jie (劉傑), who previously helmed the 2013 film Young Style <青春派>. Recently released photographs from the set of Hide and Seek show Wallace in an immaculate tailored suit, often deep in conversation with the director, showing his earnest attitude toward this project.

In addition, Hide and Seek is notable for being one of Wallace’s many movies in 2016. Already an A-list TV actor, Wallace has recently turned his focus to the silver screen. January saw the release of Inside or Outside <真相禁區>, a crime thriller in which he starred alongside Simon Yam (任達華). Also expected to open in theaters this year are Reset <致命倒數>, a science-fiction action flick starring Yang Mi (楊冪), and Suddenly Seventeen <二十八歲未成年>, which is helmed by first-time director Zhang Mo (張末), daughter of Zhang Yimou (張藝謀).

  1. Wallace Huo is always expressionless to me, same straight face in every drama. Boring.

    1. @peachyogurt Wallace has been in the industry for over 10 years. His acting skills in his younger days were really not great. But in the industry, there are a handful of actors that are famous for been very passionate, hardworking and self motivation and even self critical. Wallace is one such person. He is aware where his weakness is and he worked very hard to improve his art. Acting is a art, since he is not born with naturally acting talent. He works very hard to groom his talent. His dramas over the years have improved leaps and bounds. Mainland Chinese no longer just view him as an idol. Hu Ge, Nicky Wu, Wallace Huo are examples of actors that have earned their respect from their viewers. Their audience are no longer just young girls who idolise them. They are not fans of a mature audience who will judge them beyond their looks.
You my be watching his drama with a very closed mind and preempt judgements thus you will only see what you want to see and not the improved Wallace Huo who is more than just good looks.

      1. @hohliu I think the same like you about Wallace Huo. I hope he will act in more dramas soon – especially with LSS. We often don’t get to see his movies in North America.

      2. @hohliu You may be right, I’ve only watched a couple of his recent dramas. Unfortunately I don’t finish a lot of the mainland dramas because they are too long and boring. It may not be his acting that is boring me, but the story itself or his character in that drama.

      1. @gray Most of the Korean actors. In particular Joo Won, I remember praising him to myself about his awesome acting skills in “Good Doctor” drama.

      2. @happybi
I like him the most in OJAKGYO BROTHERS, all the rest glimpses here and there. That was actually the longest kdrama I ever was able to finish. haha
He’s cute but whenever he’s compared to KANG DON WON, still Joo Woo can NOT be as hot as KDW even thou I do like JW. KDW is just how ppl label them as ‘ TALL, RICH & HANDSOME. haha lol… He’s just like a whole freaking package. lol

      3. @kiki I actually don’t find JW good looking but cute. I like him though as I think he is a good actor. KDW is good looking but he doesn’t do anything for me. ehehehhehe. I’m more into the So Ji Sub, Jo In Sung, Park Seo Joo and Cha Seung Won type. ^_^

      4. @happybi
JW – exactly, I think so too. KDW is hot w/o trying haha lol…But he hardly does anything now but my Korean friends say he’s rich on his own so no need for TV or movies but just does movies for fun or something.
The other four that you mentioned I had to goggle their looks hahha…Lol…My sis likes the first one at one point I think. I don’t like any of them but the last one is maturely cute too… I like. :0)

Being cute is not considered good looking to you? How do you define “looking cute”? I find that many say someone is cute but not handsome/ pretty/ beautiful. However, I have always wondered what that truly meant. Is being cute inferior to being handsome/pretty/beautiful?

      6. @hetieshou honestly it is hard to explain. It come down to personal preference on what type you like better. I guess i shouldn’t use not good looking. Maybe saying not handsome but cute is a better way to explain. For instance I don’t find Mandy Wong or Natalie Tong pretty pretty. But I think they are cute. Lee Ka Yin i find handsome/beautiful. Roger, Kevin, Ruco and Wallace is consider good looking to me. Steven Ma and Bosco i think is cute. Can’t say cute is inferior because i do like Bosco more than Kevin. Just honestly depend on the person. I also find for me a person character in a drama can really influence me. For instance I always find Jo In Sung very feminine. But after watching him in “its ok its love” i absolutely love him now and find him gorgeous. Lee Min Ho is someone who people go crazy for. I find him good looking but he doesn’t do anything for me. Also like WCL he is not consider good looking nor cute but is he ugly? Imo no. But I like him as I think he is a funny, hard working and talented guy. Same for Bobby, he is not consider good looking but I find him cute and adorable!

So i guess it complicated. Haahhahahsh ^_^

      7. @happybi I totally understand what you are saying. Same as you, Steven isn’t the most handsome guy but he has a charm on TV and his serious glare has a “cuteness” to it. Same as Roger especially in Wax and Wayne. As handsome as Kevin is, I never find myself attracted to him on screen. I prefer Steven’s “cuteness” over Kevin’s “handsomeness.” I guess which quality is inferior/superior to the other depends on the person it’s being applied to. Ruco and Wallace are seriously good-looking though, no doubt about that haha.

I am no expert but I think Thriller is a genre that revolves around anticipation and suspense nothing about killers?
