Wayne Lai Relaxes in Japan’s Hot Springs
TV King Wayne Lai (黎耀祥) had a fruitful year in 2014 and was busy filming dramas and appeared in a theatrical production. Barely having any free time in his schedule, Wayne was fortunate enough to fit in an eight-day trip to Hokkaido, Japan with his wife Julia and their friends earlier in December.
Taking the opportunity to rest before the start of the New Year, Wayne enjoyed the hot springs in Hokkaido for the first time. Wayne said it was a very memorable and exciting experience. With the combination of the cold weather and the heat from the hot springs, Wayne stated the winter scenery was very different in Japan than the one he experienced in Canada.
Reflecting on his Hokkaido vacation, Wayne said, “It was at an outdoor hot spring in Lake Toya. Beside the hot spring was a mountain covered in an inch of white snow. My friend said it was fun to lie on the snow and told me to try. You only live once and since this was a rare opportunity, I laid on the snow without clothes on. The cold feeling was very good. It lasted about two to three seconds and then I went back into the hot springs. The combination of cold and hot is very refreshing. This is my first time going nude in the snow. It was so cold I forgot everything. I just buried myself in the snow and rolled around in it!”
While the trip was highly enjoyable, Wayne revealed a scary road trip incident where his car almost ran out of gas in the late evening. Forgetting to fill up on gas before returning to their hotel, Wayne and his friends was caught in a small snowstorm and was unable to see the road clearly.
“We forgot to fill up on gas when we got on the highway and we only had enough for 10 kilometers. It was getting dark and snowing a lot – we grew frantic. My friend tried to use the navigation to find a gas station. After we got off the highway, we drove on the mountain and it was very secluded – we couldn’t see anyone nor any tire tracks. Everyone was worried about having to spend the night on the mountain. But thankfully the gas lasted long enough until we saw the gas station,” Wayne shared.
