Yesterday on Valentine’s Day, Yammie Nam Kit Ying‘s petition for bankruptcy was approved by the courts. Also, she has checked into a mental hospital and good friend, David Tsang Koon Wai, has been visiting her twice a day.

Last month, Yammie had enrolled in a make-up class, hoping to learn skills to help earn a living. At the time Yammie appeared to be full of confidence. It was therefore shocking that within a month, Yammie has checked into a mental hospital.

Perhaps Yammie’s condition was affected by the approaching date of her bankruptcy case, as well as news that another HK celebrity, Hung Chiu Fu was also admitted into a mental hospital. Last Tuesday, Yammie had a visit with a psychiatrist at Kowloon Hospital. The doctor was afraid that Yammie might have suicidal tendencies, so he recommended her to check into a mental hospital to be watched carefully by the medical staff.

Yesterday was Valentine’s Day and since Yammie was in the hospital, her representative lawyer and good friend, David Tsang, appeared in court for her. When David visited her at the hospital, Yammie was in good spirits. Having known Yammie for half a year, David has reportedly proposed to Yammie.

David laughed and said his marriage proposal has been rejected. As to whether he will ask for Yammie’s hand in marriage again, David said it will depend on Yammie’s condition after she leaves the hospital. Although David’s proposal did not succeed, the responsibility of taking care of Yammie has fallen on David. Reporters asked David if he will always take care of Yammie from now onwards? David said he’ll take it a step at a time, but he couldn’t think of anyone else that would take care of Yammie otherwise.

David rented an apartment for Yammie; the montly rent is $11,000 (HKD). Reporters asked how much money he normally spends on taking care of Yammie? David said the majority of the costs is the rent, as Yammie is not as extravagant a spender as the media portrays. On an average month, expenses would not exceed $30,000 (HKD). Since David has a lot of doctor friends, he has been able to save a little money in medical fees.

Reporters asked David why he is attracted to Yammie? “Yammie is a very beautiful woman. Lately, her condition has improved. Since the hospital does not allow smoking, her condition has gotten better. Yesterday she said she wanted to go home! Another reason that I like Yammie is that after meeting her, I have gained a lot of friends and occasionally, I can appear in the newspaper too.” David laughed and said that even if you are wealthy, you may not be able to appear in newspapers.

Yammie’s friend, Lam Kin Ming, had helped out Yammie hat one point in time. However, Lam said she did not know that Yammie had been admitted into the hospital. “Since David started taking care of Yammie, I haven’t seen Yammie in a long time. Last time she said she was attending in a make-up class and that she would help me do my make-up once she completes the program. Honestly, many patients with mental instability have many severe mood swings; it is best for everyone to give her some privacy.”

Margie Tsang Wah Sin, who is also a good friend of Yammie’s, said, “I haven’t seen Yammie in a long time. Last time I saw her, her condition was pretty good. I will be visiting her at the hospital soon since we are good friends.”

Eric Tsang Chi Wai, who is currently in Guangzhou, said, “At least bankruptcy approval will ease Yammie’s financial problems. As to re-entering the hospital again, I hope she can have some quiet time to get better. The media papparrazzi should not disturb her and impact her recovery.”
