Zhang Ziyi’s Reunites with Ex-Boyfriend, Eric Fok
Thirty-one year-old Zhang Ziyi first dated tycoon, Timothy Fok’s Tsun Ting’s second son, twenty-seven year-old Eric Fok Kai Shan in 2004. The romance took Asia by storm at the time. After separating from Eric, Zhang Ziyi dated American billionaire, Vivi Nevo. With Ziyi’s relationship recently fizzling with Mr. Nevo, Ziyi reunited with Eric once again.
According to exclusive inside sources, Ziyi and Eric reunited six months ago. Witnesses spotted the couple on an outing in Macauwatching The House of Dancing Water <水舞间>, a multi-million dollar extravaganza performance combining acrobatics, music, and dance.
When reporters asked Eric whether he was back together with Ziyi, he did not respond at first and kept checking his cell phone. When reporters mentioned that a witness had spotted Eric and Ziyi in Macau together, he did not know how to respond. Finally, Eric said that he will not answer any questions about his personal matters. Yet Eric smiled brilliantly, demonstrating his good spirits.
Inside sources state that Eric has been in high spirits at parties. In a recent party, Eric and his friends got into a playful fight by throwing a cake at each other.

I didn’t follow Zhang Ziyi and Eric’s initial relationship closely. My only guess that they broke up may have been that Eric was too young at the time and Ziyi’s fame was rising in the West. Ziyi probably had hopes to become a bigger Hollywood sensation and focusing on developing relations and ties to improve that.
The pics make Eric Fok look like a hard-partying fraternity boy, lacking the maturity and career focus that makes Martin Lee, Richard Li, and Wang Xiao Fei look like “real men” and more attractive IMO.
Why did Timothy Fok not like Zhang Ziyi? His ex-wife was Chu Ling Ling, Miss Hong Kong 1977 who was also from the entertainment circle.
To liling: you should search on the internet re the ‘bottom’ kissing photo on a private beach of Zhang Ziyi and Vivi Nevo. It cause a huge bad lash against her in China. There are places and times to do certain things. That was definitely not the right place.
Chu Ling Ling never really step into the entertainment circle. She met Timothy Fok after winning the crown and married him 9 months later.
Zhang Ziyi and a boyfriend having some intimacy together on a private beach. How is that cheap? Yes, she’s a public figure and should be more careful with her conduct. But, she’s still not cheap.
I’m not a big fan of ZZY myself, but, sometimes, I do feel sorry for her. Everything she does is wrong in those bashers eye.

The Chinese media often paints Zhang Ziyi as a gold digger. Her name has even been linked to many rich men, such as Vicki Zhao’s husband, Huang Yau Long, and Wang Xiao Fei’s father as well. The press likes to portray her as a third party too.
I don’t like ZZY myself, I find her overrated but I agree, generally Chinese don’t liker for various reasons. The depiction of her as a gold digger I believe is not because they think she is one but rather a response to all these negative opinion of her. She is a huge star in Hollywood and so naturally she will meet people of wealth. She herself is earning a lot of money. Is she really a gold digger? I don’t know. As for 3rd party, well that’s easier to determine isn’t it?
But yes, not many like her. But I doubt it has to do with dating a foreigner. Remember the donation scandal? That too. The movie Geisha didn’t help things. Did she forget her roots? Well her career is in Hollywood so what do they expect her to do? The thing is Gong Li also is going through the same path, in fact she was the original golden girl from china although Joan Chen was perhaps arguably the very first. Did the public hated Joan Chen back then I wonder? Everybody thinks Gong Li is classy, me too actually. I think generally Asians dislike her because well, she seems rather intergrated with the hollywood system, the lifestyle I mean, parties, premiers, etc. Also what the papers say also have very huge bearing. The situation may not be as bad as the papers say it is. The public may actually like the fact one of their girls made it to Hollywood. Sometimes public perception or the report on public perception is formed by what the tabloids, papers say. But yes I agree, generally she is the darling of western media but not the chinese media. I must give her props for learning English so fast. She works hard. But as an actress I think she is overrated.
Ahhh yes the beach photos didn’t help matters. I wouldn’t call her cheap. It was an invasion of her privacy since it was private beach? But yes, my feelings was that of “oh here goes another one” when I saw the pictures. But look; what they do in private is none of my business. And I think the whole Edison-gate pictures were far worse. Again the media dislikes her so made a really big deal of that. But private or not, she should have known better.
For me the one good reason to diss her is the whole donation scandal. That is a legitimate criticism.
What donation scandal are you guys referring to? Also, what is the big deal about her being with anyone rich? She is NOT the only one since most actresses are. Look at Barbie Xu who will marry this rich after knowing him for only 20 days?
Totally agree with you Funn.I am not a fan of her myself but feel bad for her at times. First of all, she makes a lot of money herself so would she even need to marry someone really rich? But then again, who ever said that money was too much?
i believe she made a comment in an interview once about disliking people from Hong Kong.
the comment was a bit blown out of proportion by the media but it was believable because zzy portrays herself as a very snobby person.

As hard it is for me now to learn French, Japanese, Spanish and what nots even with all the money in the world. Look at Jackie Chan.
Gong Li is actually more famous than she is, after all she was ZHang yimou’s original muse. BUt she didn’t actively pursue a hollywood career and her English was and still is an obstacle
Fame can help you learn a foreign language easier?
I actually quite like ZZ, but I also believe she likes “them” rich and/or powerful. But so does every other actress in the industry so I don’t hold it against her. And I find it rather hypocritical of people who calls her cheap or whatever when she hasn’t done anything, other Asian actresses haven’t done. Maybe with the exception that ZZ was actually successful.
I know that she was accused of sleeping with Zhang Yimou as his “muse” but so was Gong Li. Again, I don’t see what ZZ has done that others haven’t (also been accused of).
It’s not that hard to learn another language if you were motivated and had a personal tutor to help you.
Obviously I had trouble learning French in school since people learn at a different pace. However if I had a personal tutor to teach me then I probably would be a lot better at it.
Also it helps if you actually move to a country that speaks that language as well. Some people don’t even need tutors. My friend picked up Spanish within 5 months of living there.
Might also help if your beau speaks the language too. Look at Maggie Cheung, she’s like fluent in several languages. Was so amazed with her French!

His English just has a really strong accent and he purposely plays that Chinese FOB image.

Well known fact; Gong Li was ZYM’s muse AND lover for many years and then they parted ways. ZZY I believe was his lover and muse too. She looks a bit like Gong Li.

Eh Rush Hour 2 was funny! I mean juvenile but harmless.
When he’s at interviews, it’s actually not too bad. I mean, I read about his profile and he didn’t come from a well off family. In fact, he spent most of his childhood learning martial arts and then stepping into the industry.
He was never really exposed to learning school work at a young age, so there might be a handicap there. Based on that, I personally think he’s made vast improvements in terms of learning languages that will help his career. He’s not trying to publish a book so he really only needs minimal English to make it.
I don’t love his works but I respect his hard work and dedication.
Hollywood always blows the word beauty of out proportion. If a foreign movie is famous, they would come out and say the leading actress is the most beautiful woman in the world. Take Freida pinto and slumdog millionaire. Freida and counting ZZY just above average looking beauties. I seen more beautiful women than these 2.
And sometimes learning English easier or not depending on their brain talent/power.
By the way, I thought Fan Bing Bing was a very beautiful actress. She looks like a Chinese doll.

I am not a fan of ZZY myself, but I agree with everything you said. What has she done that others haven’t done? I honestly don’t see any actress that has married someone that is not rich or is not from the circle. If the person is not rich or powerful then they are from the circle…
Learning a language takes a lot of work and depends on many many factors. I studied about that so much during graduate school. You first of all need formal instruction. Then you need to be immersed in the language and culture. It also depends on the individual and how motivated they are to learn it as well as their own abilities. Learning a language is just really complicated.
Like Funn, I believe ZZY was just ignorant of her finances. Maybe she just promote the foundation and let others run it.
