Anthony Wong and Wayne Lai are Not Getting Along?

Known for his fiery personality, Anthony Wong (黃秋生) is not getting along with co-star Wayne Lai (黎耀祥) on the Shanghai set of TVB drama, Lord of Shanghai <梟雄>. It has been reported that the Film King and TV King tried to avoid each other as much as possible.

Reportedly, one of the reasons why the two are at odds is because of Anthony’s stringent demands. It took great effort to convince the award-winning star to film a series for the station, and TVB is willing to fulfill all of Anthony’s demands and requests, even if his demands caused inconvenience for the rest of the cast.

Rumors say that Anthony wanted to film his scenes first, causing the staff to rearrange filming schedules to accommodate him. Anthony arrived on set at 5 a.m. and did not complete his day of work until 6 p.m. Wayne, on the other hand, finished his scenes by 9 a.m. and was left with nothing to do for the rest of the day. Between October 1 and 6, Anthony had filming scheduled every day, while Wayne only had three days of work.

Allegedly, Wayne sensed the outright unfair treatment from TVB executives. An insider revealed that Wayne had complained to the producer, but the complaints were ignored.

On the days when Anthony and Wayne shared a scene, they rarely interacted. The director wanted them to rehearse their lines before the cameras rolled, but Anthony and Wayne rehearsed with their assistants instead. After shooting their scene together, they immediately treated each other like they were transparent and kept a distance from each other.

Earlier, costar Kent Tong (湯鎮業) held a birthday party and invited his cast members. Although Wayne attended, Anthony was nowhere to be seen. Anthony also did not go out to eat meals with the rest of his costars, opting to buy takeout and eat at his hotel room instead.

  1. Men have rivalry also, I thought women are more sensitive creatures! What a bunch of story to listen….

  2. TVB paid a lot of $ to have him return, why not make him work 10 hrs/day instead of sitting around waiting on others? If he finishes all his parts early n leave, TVB can save $ on 5-stars hotel n other accommodation costs.

  3. What’s so big deal about Anthony’s awards that makes him such a pain? This is not the first time I hear about him being difficult. It’s not like he won an oscar or something. Also the first role he won for was role of a psychotic murderer with a lot of swearing. Hardly a gentlemanly role. Self indulgence at its heights.

  4. Never been a big fan of Anthony’s…..I just hope it was worth all the effort and money to bring this guys to TV. If ratings don’t reflect….that would be funny. 😛

  5. Anthony onscreen and off is the same person. Bad tempered and fou1 mouthed.

  6. You really wonder how true this is because wasn’t there a report earlier when Wayne defended Anthony and said that he is easy to get along with? But now there is this report. The next thing you know, tomorrow there will be another report denying all this. Sigh.. We must learn to take everything with a grain of salt.

    1. yup, my grain of salt tells me that wayne was just being polite, he is smart enough to answer avoid further conflicts

    2. Wayne was just being diplomatic. He’s savvy enough to know the right things to say at the right time though he may not mean it. Doesn’t just apply to Wayne.

    3. Well true or not only they would know the truth. People that dislike Wayne can also, say that he was being fake as well. But anyways, the good is once filming is over, they can all go their separate ways until they meet again for another project.

  7. anthony worked his way to here, deserves to be a diva, great actor

  8. Anthony is a pain in the ass. Imagine if he actually got his way and become the president of the guild?

  9. I think the working hours are the other way around Anthony working a few hours a week and Wayne working the long hours when has a tvb actor had short hours it’s usually working 30 hours straight

    1. That was what I was thinking. Something in this article does not make sense. Shouldn’t it be Wayne working the longer hours while Anthony has the shorter hours? It is strange how they say that he is working over 12 hours while Wayne works less and has nothing to do for the rest of the day. It just does not add up at all.

      1. Thank you , Anthony not even that good box office poison he never has had a box office sucess when playing the main lead… His not actually all that good he looked like a idiot last year when nick won BA when he calms to be one of nick best friends

  10. Maybe he wants to hurry up..and return to the frontline in the protest downtown central

  11. This report is purely based on speculation, as there are ZERO quotes from either artists. I call this report BS.

  12. Can’t stand Anthony and his attitude.
Hope this series’ viewership hits a historic low so that they will stop overpaying talentless over-hyped “actors”, while shafting the contracted artists who slave every day.

Also, not sure why it’s a problem for Wayne to finish early and have the whole day to rest or rehearse for the next. Why would that be a negative?

  13. This report is rediculous! Both of these actors are very talented and serious in their work. They could be staying in characters…therefore, not interesting with each other. Stop making false reports to ruin people’s relationships.
