Cecilia Liu Celebrates 26th Birthday with “Bu Bu Jing Qing” Cast

The cast of Bu Bu Jing Qing <步步驚情>, which recently began filming in Tianjin, threw a surprise birthday party for female lead Cecilia Liu (劉詩詩), who turned 26 years old on March 10.

After filming wrapped up for the day, the cast and crew brought out a birthday cake and showered Cecilia with blessings and congratulations. The extremely happy Cecilia downed two enormous slices of cake and treated fans waiting at the set to another cake.

Cecilia’s birthday also happened to be the first day that male lead Nicky Wu (吳奇隆) would be on set. When the two came face to face, Nicky joked that he had prepared a huge birthday present for her, but because it was too big, he was unable to bring it with him. Cecilia, who is known for being a food aficionado, immediately asked, “Is it a refrigerator?” which stirred up much laughter.

Among the birthday presents Cecilia received this year were handcraft memorabilia from the Forbidden City, featuring cute depictions of Maertai Ruoxi, the character she played in popular time-traveling drama Bu Bu Jing Xin <步步驚心>, of which Bu Bu Jing Qing is considered a modern-era reboot. While blowing out the candles on her birthday cake, Cecilia wished for the filming of  Bu Bu Jing Qing to go smoothly, and for everyone to see her effort and improvement as a result of this drama.

Because Cecilia is often busy with work during her birthday, she is usually unable to spend this special day with her parents. Nevertheless, her friends in the cast and crew are always eager to help her celebrate, and she has grown accustomed to treating them like her family members. In 2011, her birthday coincided with the filming of Bu Bu Jing Xin. Cecilia recalls having an extremely good time celebrating her birthday that year.

  1. Happy Birthday, Shi Shi! Wishing you the best and why don’t u also wish for Da Mo Yao to be aired soon ? I heard that DMY is facing the problem of broadcasting now.

  2. Her and nicky are just so adorable. Love them both and happy birthday cecilia

  3. Awe! Loved Nicky and Cecilia’s pairing and humour. 🙂 Nicky looks pretty good in the photos included in this article^_^

    1. She def looks about 30+ in the pic but she is never a looker i think to begin with i mean super fans will beg to differ but i personally don’t really see it.
Isn’t Yang Mi also in her mid twenties? She also does not look her age so it’s not only this Cecilia. That’s why when they are pair up w/oldies, we don’t really see a huge difference.

      1. Too be fair, I think the hairdo and clothes aged her this pic. She looks a lot younger in interviews and talk shows. However, I agree with you that she’s not a beauty. Cute though. Yang Mi does look older for her age, but I think it’s the stress of being in this business at such a young age.

      2. -lingling,
I agree. 🙂 My friends tell me she is so pretty and all after that drama. I said, a beauty? Hello, just b/c you like her in a character does not make her a beauty. I don’t watch many historic dramas so i didn’t pay attention but i do like the soundtracks of the series, not the series but the songs. So i say it really is alot of factors that it is popular, sometimes it’s the songs, sometimes it’s the faces and sometimes it’s the storyline. But then again, beauty is really subjective. I don’t find her that attractive but just cute you know. Just like that Taiwan star Michelle Chen or something, people are calling her a new goddess that she is soooooooooo beauty…OMG, thats a beauty? She looks very plain to me i am sorry haha…LOL. Taiwan has a LOT MORE beauties there than her. But i guess since they like her in a movie, then she is automatically goddess status please, its a totally different issue IMO of course. 🙂

      3. michaelscotfield,

The drama you’re referring to, BBJX, was one of the few drama that could be considered a classic. It had everything a great drama should have; great plot, beautiful costumes, alluring soundtracks, and a wonderful cast that perfected their given roles. The drama would have gotten a perfect 10 from me except for the main actress, LSS. She was weakling of the drama. Throughout the series, I can’t see the female heroine, only LSS trying too hard. Her shining moment was when she died at the end. Nevertheless, the drama was so popular and loved by many, it is easy to imagine that the main actress would be loved as well; beauty is definitely subjective 🙂

You got me curious so I went and looked up Michelle Chen. That girl is not a goddess by any means or definition. For an actress, she’s average at best. There isn’t anything to complain about her features, but nothing to brag about.

      4. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I think Cecilia has a sweet look, but it is more of a cute rather than a “beautiful” look. Some will think she is beautiful. At least she is natural rather than those artificial plastic dolls that we see with the same old faces over and over again..

      5. Well LSS doesnt really have the most beautiful face.. however i think she has quite a different character from some other actresses.. maybe thats why people n also entertainment people like her..

  4. Happy Birthday Cecilia! Hope that her wishes come true and she and Nicky are so cute and sweet. Glad that she has grown close to the cast and crew and treats them like family. How sweet!!! Hope that filming goes well and wish that the entire cast list will be released.

  5. Nicky looks quite smart, I hope he’ll have lots of nice suits in BBJQ. But wtf is up with LSS’s matron hair and style? Does Tangren not have budget to dress their lead actress properly?!
