Characters Suffer Tragic Ends in “Lord of Shanghai”

Although still currently filming, plot details for Lord Of Shanghai <梟雄> were leaked that the main characters will not have happy endings. Kent Tong (湯鎮業), Wayne Lai (黎耀祥), and Myolie Wu (胡杏兒) will meet their tragic ends in the epic war drama.

Award-winning film actor, Anthony Wong (黃秋生) makes a television comeback with his role as one of Shanghai’s legendary businessmen. Anthony, Kent and Wayne are known as the Three Tycoons of Shanghai. Originally, the three were sworn brothers and business partners who successfully broke into the Shanghai business market, but due to misunderstandings, they ultimately turn against each other.

Unfortunate Endings for Main Characters

Recent TVB drama, Line Walker <使徒行者>, made headlines due to its sensational character deaths, and it appears that Lord of Shanghai’s character death tolls will not be shabby in comparison. On the filming set earlier, Wayne and Anthony’s characters witnessed a brutal shooting that later result in the death of their once beloved brother, Kent. Although the scene was highly dramatic and emotional, it is already speculated that Wayne and Myolie’s characters will also die.

In response to the high number of deaths in the grand production, Wayne said, “Because the story takes place during the Japanese invasion in China, there are turbulent changes in the era. Many people become traitors in order to build good relationships with the Japanese. Because of the war, it is inevitable that a lot of people will die.”
