Christopher Lee and Chung Hsin Ling Win Golden Bell Best Acting Awards

Winning Best Actor at the Golden Bell Awards, Singaporean actor Christopher Lee (李銘順) debuted in the Taiwanese entertainment scene as the male lead in A Good Wife <親愛的,我愛上別人了>. Upon receiving the award, Christopher immediately phoned home to share the exciting news with his wife, Singaporean actress/model Fann Wong (范文芳).

At the after-party,  Christopher shared with reporters the need to lose weight for the awards ceremony. With his kitchen filled with highly nutritious food and health products meant for Fann during her postpartum confinement, Christopher naturally could not avoid eating the same foods. As a result, Christopher ballooned from 172 pounds to 201 pounds. Thankfully, Christopher eventually managed to lose 13 pounds by cutting out carbohydrates and fried food.

On the subject of his family life with Fann, Christopher candidly revealed that they were very much in love and had been thinking about the possibility of a second child. He said, “Fann is eager to have another child, but I am not in a hurry and would rather let nature take its course.”

The Best Actress award went to veteran Taiwanese actress Chung Hsin Ling (鍾欣凌) for her role in period drama Sun After the Rain <雨後驕陽>. The award was especially meaningful for Hsin Ling who, despite having been in the industry for close to 20 years, received an award for the first time. When the show first aired, Hsin Ling received a lot of criticism from viewers, including many vicious social media attacks. Hsin Ling thus felt very heartened and affirmed by the judging panel’s recognition of her acting abilities.

On the subject of her weight, Hsin-ling stated, “There aren’t a lot of overweight artistes in the entertainment industry but I think I’m alright!” In fact, she had recently tried to diet but ended up gaining four pounds instead. Hsin Ling decided to wear a dress that made her waist appear slimmer instead.

  1. Congratulation!!! Christopher Lee and His wife, Fann Wong, both are my favorite actors of all time. Wish them luck and happiness!!!

  2. Winning best actor probably isn’t new to Christopher Lee. But Chun Hsin Ling really well deserve the award. I never really watched her periodic drama she lead in, but man.. her performance in Fated to Love You was so well done and so real-life.

I’m glad this year Golden Bell is giving real recognition instead of the idols actress actors like Ariel Lin, Rainie Yang etc.

    1. Huh?! I did not watch the ENTIRE fated to love you, but from the scenes I did watch, she acted TERRIBLY, incredibly over-acted!! Sorry, I have never commented before, but this one I just have to speak up. But I believe she must have improved a lot since then to be able to get a Golden Bell award.

      1. This one I would have to agree with Jnalee.
She actually did great in FTLY. Her and the mother of Chen Xin Yi was really the main reason I watched the drama. My family loves watching her in FTLY actually.

    2. Rebecca,

I agree w/you but to be fair, MOST of them are overrating? haha…I also watched bits and pieces of it as well b/c some of the parts are just so draggy and nonsensical. If not for the refreshing plot in that period in Taiwan I doubt it got such high ratings. In that time, they are probably bored w/all those manga or just idol to live action series that this fated love plot came along, it just nailed in that time period.
On a side note, if you haven’t watch the korean version of Fated To Love You, you should give it a shot, it’s crazy and whackier from the very beginning as well but if you managed to finish 2 episodes, you will be hooked as it was funny, simple and it doesn’t dragged even at 20 episodes but most of all the ending is NOT lame compares to the Taiwanese Version.

      1. The Korean FTLY was great because of Jang Nara and Jang Hyuk’s chemistry. Plot wise it went waywards after the 8th episode. They’re a fantastic pair, but the script didn’t match their acting prowess. It was such a pity. In fact, the TW version would edge it slightly simply because it was more “filled” in the sense the the plot was a little more satisfying. But I love JNR in her role, she was simply awesome, and imo did better than Joe Chen.

      2. @hakell ,
I couldnt have agreed more on “The Korean FTLY was great because of Jang Nara and Jang Hyuk’s chemistry”
They are simply too cute together. I do agree it started w/a bang but tends to go to the cliche korean plotline towards the middle and then just seem too comical/magical happily ever after towards the end. However, I still enjoyed it more b/c i remember i was skipping them the TW while my mom was watching it i basically just 1 epi here and the last there b/c it was too dragging for me and alot of nonesense too and then lame ending. Wow, it was kind of weird to me. I haven’t watched any kdrama since City Hunter so i stumbled upon it and thought it was really weird and whacky but then it was very funny at the same time. I never watched anything of the JH or JNR before but they are just the cutest onscreen pair for me even toug the guy seems a too matured cuz of baby face JNR. But it works for me, i thought it was one of the better remakes ever.

  3. Well deserved Christopher Lee
    Finally Asia recognition
    Singapore proud

    1. That was I was thinking. Maybe he us not proud of his Malaysian roots and wants to Singaporean now?

  4. His stylish should be shot – generous tubby figure is one thing, to encase/accentuate it further with that short jacket proportion (and drawing-attention glittery at that!) is a fashion faux pas.

  5. His stylist should be fired.

Being generous tubby figure is one thing, but encasing-accentuating it the proportions with that short jacket (and highlighting it with that glitter-shimmer, in addition) is a fashion oversight.

    1. If you say this was bad, wait till you saw him in the Singapore awards several years back, this is just a small “case”

  6. Hello….Fann is not young. Still want to wait naturally for second child?????

    1. I agree and they are already lucky to have a healthy child at her age. They should just be happy with ine,but I remember Fann saying how she wanted 4 kids just like her family, but I guess that is not possible now.

  7. Congratulation.Just saw his younger brother;Frederick Lee, won Best Actor at Golden Awards(a Malaysian award) for Malaysian drama; The Descendant.

    1. Thanks for the info! I did not know that he had a brother that was an actor too. I also did not know he acted in Malaysian dramas. Great to know his brother won as well.

  8. Not “Singaporean actor” but Singapore-based actor. Christopher Lee is Malaysian. I wish all the media would get this right.

    1. Maybe the media does not know that? I have to admit that at first I thought he was Singaporean too. I mistakenly thought that for a very long time until one day someone finally told me that he is Malaysian. Maybe he would rather be Singaporean since his wife is one?

      1. I think he doesn’t necessarily need to be a Singaporean just because he has a Singaporean wife, plus now he not base in Singapore anymore, now he is base in Taiwan. But i’m not sure what their son status.

      2. True, about their son, I am guessing that he will take the citizenship of the country that he was born in.
