“Gilded Chopsticks” Cast Promote Series Finale

The cast of TVB’s period drama Gilded Chopsticks <食為奴> walked the streets of Tsim Sha Tsui yesterday afternoon to promote their drama’s upcoming series finale, which will air on Friday, March 14, 2014. The cast passed out salted fish bun – one of the staple food props in the drama – to neighbors and urged everyone to look out for the upcoming episodes that would air next week.

Gilded Chopsticks, which premiered in Hong Kong in early February, has been earning positive responses from the Hong Kong public. Achieving a consistent average of 28 rating points per episode, the Qing Dynasty court drama is currently the highest-rated television drama series in Hong Kong.

Lead star Wong Cho Lam (王祖藍) expressed his hopes for his management to rearrange his schedule next week so he can stay in Hong Kong to support the drama’s series finale on March 14. As he passed out the salted fish buns, he joked that he has already saved two buns for his girlfriend Leanne Li (李亞男). “My girlfriend needs to keep fit for her next drama, so I can only save two for her.”

Cho Lam revealed that Leanne has been cooking a lot recently. “If she makes something nice she will share it online. She’s best at making kimchi fried rice. I don’t even like kimchi but somehow her dish tastes good.” Cho Lam then added jokingly, “She doesn’t want to learn too many dishes because she doesn’t want to be forced to cook all the time.”

Joey Meng Chops Her Hair for “Inbound Troubles 2”

Joey Meng (萬綺雯) said she has already saved a bun for her husband, Chan Sap Sam (陳十三). Unlike Leanne, Joey said she doesn’t need to learn how to cook because she has been cooking for her family and friends at a young age. “When I first got married I cooked up so many dishes my husband gained over ten pounds. His cholesterol shot up. However, he was later influenced by my vegetarian lifestyle so now he’s back to normal.”

The actress is currently preparing for her role in the upcoming Inbound Troubles 2 <老表,你好Hea!>, which will begin production this month. For her role, she decided to crop her hair short. “My husband likes it. After cutting it I dyed my hair a couple of times. He said I’ve transformed from a western girl, to a Japanese girl, and now a Korean girl. It’s refreshing.”

  1. Yes agreed he is very good. Ben Wong has stolen the whole show.

  2. FULLY AGREE! Hopefully TVB will put him back as an A-lister!

  3. Ben wong really stand out in GC! I really enjoy the series. Cant to see the last few eps.

  4. Ahhhh awaiting moderation!!

    Rephrase…

I know it is unfair to Ben who did fairly well as Yongzheng but you know, if Kong Wah were to reprise this role even at his current age, he can kick quite a lot of bums, more so Ben. Just watch Happy Ever After (he wasn’t even Yonzheng) and you will see why.

  5. Ben Wong (黃智賢) impresses once again especially in the episode when he found out that he was betrayed by Joey Meng (萬綺雯). He is one versatile actor that can pass off as the good guy, baddie and comedy. Enjoy watching his performance.

  6. Ben Wong is one amazing actor. Always knew that he was one versatile actor!

And TVB, he better be nominated for BA!

    1. Truly agree!! He is a versatile actor, be iit as villain or nerd, he can be really convincing.

      1. Yep! And I kinda guessed what would happen but this is one of my favourite dramas, will definitely rewatch this drama <3

  7. Truly great acting skills from Ben Wong! TVB you should cherish good actors like him. Im sure there are better interpretations of the character he played but I have to say he held his own very well indeed. Didnt have emulate others which is what I like.

    1. Agreed. 🙂
I think he really bought out the character very well. If I was to compare BBJX and this drama, I think that although the costumes aren’t as fancy as BBJX, I prefer Ben Wong’s portrayal the most and then Nicky’s. 🙂

  8. Oh and I must say something about the ending. LURRRVEEE the scene where Tin po bade farewell to Yong Zheng, thanking him for the gifts..But just didnt understand why YZ still had to look for Mo Suet..haizzzzz. What is so great about a woman who has been 2-timing???

  9. I didn’t think I would like this series as much as I anticipated. Good cast, could be better. I missed the old soundtracks, but the timing and scenes it played in didn’t quite fit. Can’t wait for the last episode (with subs) though!
