Joey Meng and Bobby Au Yeung Urge ATV to Pay Staff

Headlining numerous series since joining TVB, Joey Meng‘s (萬綺雯) latest project is period comedy, With or Without You <東坡家事>, opposite Bobby Au Yeung (歐陽震華). After filming commenced in October, the series is in its final filming segment. Yesterday, the cast and crew flew to Wuxi and will film on location for three weeks.

At the airport, Bobby brought along two large suitcases. Joey teased Bobby for his hefty luggage, “You brought so many things. Do you plan to go out and party every night?” Bobby laughed that he happens to own a lot of winter clothing at home, so he will put them to good use due to the frigid temperatures in Wuxi.

Joey was asked to comment on her former company ATV’s financial struggles. Late in paying partial November and December salaries to its staff, ATV is scrambling to cut costs and raise revenue through steeply discounted television ads. A big star in her former ATV days, Joey was fortunate in making a smooth transition at TVB. Unfortunately, her ex-colleagues were not as lucky.  Joey hopes that ATV can quickly resolve its financial issues so that the staff can have an enjoyable Lunar New Year.

Bobby also added that the bosses at ATV should take into account that many of its staff members rely on their paychecks to support their families. Without timely paychecks, this would jeopardize the staff’s ability to pay their bills.
