Kate Tsui and Nancy Wu Embarrassed About Kissing Scene in “The Ultimate Addiction”

TVB’s upcoming drama The Ultimate Addiction <點金勝手> will make its debut on June 2, taking over the 9:30 p.m. time slot currently occupied by Never Dance Alone <女人俱樂部>. Stars Kate Tsui (徐子珊) and Nancy Wu (胡定欣) promoted the series with the cast on May 27. When asked to comment on their highly anticipated kissing scene, both described it as a challenging and awkward experience.

The Ultimate Addiction is one of TVB’s biggest investments this year. The TV station hopes that its broadcast will save the plummeting ratings caused in part by the heavily criticized fantasy epic Journey To The West <西遊記>. Starring top artistes Kate, Nancy, and Bosco Wong (黃宗澤) in an original story about money, power, and betrayal, the finance-themed drama may be just what it takes to retain TVB’s prime-time demographics.

Besides its thrilling plot, one of the main selling points of The Ultimate Addiction is a kissing scene between Kate and Nancy. Alone in a restroom, Nancy forcefully pushed Kate to the wall and kissed her to see if she is indeed a lesbian. Although the series has yet to air, this scene alone has already generated a lot of buzz which could bode well for TVB’s ratings strategy.

Kate feels that the kiss is a major breakthrough moment for both herself and local TV history. Although it seems like a simple peck on the lips, she was actually quite embarrassed during the shoot. “It was very awkward, but Nancy probably felt even more embarrassed because she had to take the initiative. It was very quiet [on the set] and everyone could hear it clearly.”

Nancy lamented that she indeed felt uncomfortable filming the scene, describing it as a very one-sided kiss. When asked who was the better kisser between Kate and Bosco, Nancy smoothly replied that she cannot compare the two but said that her kiss with Kate was more memorable. “I was more nervous kissing her than kissing Bosco. I’ve never tried to force a kiss on someone, and I was worried that I would hurt her when I pushed her towards the wall. We ended up causing outtakes twice.”

  1. This is now known to me as the series where Nancy and Kate lesbian-kiss lol. Although I don’t really see what’s the big deal with the kiss is, like Kate said, it’s a breakthrough for her and the HK TVB history. Still looking forward to this quite a lot I admit even though not much besides that kiss is leaked.

The themes of the drama sounds like something TVB usually do well in and doesn’t really fail with viewers. So who else is part of the drama?

  2. if lesbian kiss is indeed allow to boradcast in TVB during that time slot,,, will TVB allow to broadcast 2 guys kissing as well in future?

    1. You want to see 2 tvb males kissing and and gay couples in dramas? It could attract some viewers. Others will hate it.

    2. Muse,
Maggie Cheung and Esther Kwan also kissed in 1997 series “A Recipe for the Heart” (美味天王). Also Jonathan Chik’s “Let It Be Love” featured a transgender couple, portrayed by Vin Choi and Leo Lee, kissing on the lips. There are probably more scenes as well from past series featuring same-sex couples kissing.

  3. nancy and kate are hot.. but a good scipt would push the ratings up

    1. Lol – I’m skeptical on the script. Based on this article, the series is a financial series but the promo is solely promoting a lesbian kissing scene.

Am only happy because Nancy finally share lead roles with Kate and TVB finally think highly of Nancy to give her this much needed publicity, despite I still feel it’s a cheap stunt by TVB because they can’t write a good script.

From the article above, Nancy is in a relationship with both Kate and Bosco? Finally TVB is treating Nancy what she deserves!

  4. Wait, as much as this series serves as breakthrough for Kate, Nancy and TVB with the lesbian thing, there are a few things messed up
    – I’m disappointed and feel TVB is very cheap for focusing the promo of a FINANCIAL series on a lesbian kissing scene(although sort of happy that TVB finally promoting Nancy heavily and let her share the breakthrough with Kate)
    – what happened to Bosco Wong? Is he not with TVB anymore and not promoted amymore? I heard that he is the male lead? Why isn’t he in the promo?
    – what is this series about actually?

    1. Actually Bosco did joined the promotion. He was in mainland filming and unable to be in Hongkong to promote the drama directly. However, there was a live camera from his place connected to the a big screen at the promotion place for him to promote the drama. So he did joined the process

  5. hi there

    1. two hot gals kissing.
    2. honest, no big deal.
    3. what’s a big deal is when both were to be “nude” kissing.
    4. that will definitely sell, hot!

  6. why do people make kissy faces? It’s not cute at all! they’re one muscle away from making a sour face. I like kate, but she has to stop those faces!!

  7. I’ve got the feeling that all the see lais will file complaints on the kissing scene.
