Linda Chung, Ruco Chan Promote “All That Is Bitter Is Sweet”

Linda Chung (鍾嘉欣), Ruco Chan (陳展鵬), Natalie Tong (唐詩詠), Ngo Ka Nin (敖嘉年), and the cast of TVB’s All That is Bitter is Sweet <大藥坊> promoted the drama, which will premieres on September 8. Raymond Wong (黃浩然), who is sick with tonsillitis, was absent at the promotions.

The cast interacted with the audience and played party games on stage. Linda and Ruco, who became a popular onscreen couple after last year’s Brother’s Keeper<巨輪>, was the media’s spotlight. The good friends gladly posed for the camera together and said they are very happy that their partnership is well-accepted and supported by viewers.

Raymond Wong is currently hospitalized due to tonsillitis. Ruco, who will be working with Raymond again for new TVB drama Cheung Po Tsai <張保仔>, regrets joking about his sickness earlier. Ruco added that he is glad Raymond is resting now, “I can film my parts first. I hope he will recover soon.”

Linda Chung Drank Before Kissing Alex Fong

Linda, who caught a fever when she was shooting Limelight Years <華麗轉身> in Taiwan earlier, was unable to take a walk around Taiwan’s famous night markets or do much sightseeing. She could only eat porridge to cleanse her body.

Portraying a couple with Alex Fong Lik Sun (方力申) in Limelight Years, Linda just had her “most intense kiss in history”. She said, “We kissed from the streets to the hotel. I also drank a little alcohol before filming the kissing scene, and it was my first time doing that. Alex gave me some of his whiskey, and I grew a bit light-headed. I couldn’t stop laughing. And that was how I finished the kissing scene.”

Asked if she was embarrassed about it, Linda said, “No. I’m going to have to do it eventually. Why not just get more professional and do it all in one take.”

  1. The themevideo is a bit boring. Looks draggy, but there are quite a bit of veterans. Linda looks awkward at times. She’s better in modern dramas.

    1. “Dull”, the perfect word to describe this first episode!

  2. 1st episode was good but I don’t know… Linda OTT in acting. Seems like she has lost touch with acting sensibly ever since that horrid performance in Brothers Keeper.

    1. I disagree that Linda’s performance in BK is horrible. Her character is not very likable but she acted the character well.

    2. I believe that the first episode was decent as well, but her character in this new series is too soon for her calibre because its a periodic drama and I think Linda Chung isn’t up to grips with the standard of this drama. Also in BK, I think she played a good role but could of been better

  3. her false bottom eyelashes were a bit distracting in the promo video.

  4. First episode is boring. All the high-people are so young, from Vice Mayor to Police Department Sherif.

  5. Okay, I’m not anti-Linda, but a bit of inconsistency in her character. She seemed intelligent in the scene where she showed the workers how to separate the two medicines balks from one another. Although it seems silly that a well established pharmacy did not implement any precaui

    1. precautionary system to avoid accidental mix-ups of such.

In the next scene Linda’s character all of a sudden went from intelligent to slowwwww reaction. A simple “Don’t use the rat, I will treat your brother!” would have done the job. Instead we were taken on a wild goose chase which ended up with her naively trusting a stranger, Ruco, who shows traces of shadiness in this first ep. I suppose the script was written that way to introduce us to the male leads, but I found that method very annoying. Sorry, I should have put “SPOILER ALERT” before I begin my comment.

      1. it’s fine.
it makes me wonder if tvb is paving sammy shum as tvb’s most improved male artiste.

  6. I am surprised that everyone think that Linda & Ruco filming together a lot, as what I know is the second drama they had worked together. I like this , because this is a big T.V. drama, and this drama is just aired today. Every year TVB has their annual ceremony for choosing the TVB Queen & King, this was airing in this late September which is very closed to the ceremony, That means TVB is hinting this will be the best drama of the 2014, and Linda & Ruco may also be the TVB queen & king of this year too . LET SEE…..

    1. just TVB management think it is good…just TVb management want to choose TV King and Queen from those drama!

  7. I don’t know why the Chinese name of the drama which I wrote on the comment above didn’t show. Sorry to confuse you guys while reading my comment. Hope you guys will understand what I said even the name of the drama was missing.

  8. I thought episode 1 was a good introduction to each cast. Linda’s acting …. will have to see the dramatic parts later. Can’t say one episode defines her acting is horrible for the whole drama. I’ll give her a chance since I like her with Ruco.

  9. Ruco acting keeps improving his acting skills has reached another level

  10. First 2 episodes, too little screen time for Ruco, too much talk about rats. Moving on, this will get better.

  11. this may be a drama with a slow start, but gets interesting in the middle.

  12. It’s 30 episodes. What’s the rush? The big change is going to happen next week. Episode 3 already going to start showing the town in panic over the disease. This drama will get interesting soon. Some people have no patience lol.

    1. Ha! Ha! Yes this is drama not action, needs time to build up. Patience can be rewarding. I’ll hang on cos i like Ruco – Linda pairing.

    2. Yes, TVB is notorious with taking it very slow in the beginning and then bam, lightning speeds in last two episodes lol.

  13. Just finished watching ep 3. The pace has picked up considerably and i enjoyed this episode. I think the supporting cast like Pierre Ngo did pretty well. But his mom was such a biiiitch! The actor who’s Linda’s dad looks familiar, anyone knows who he is? I enjoy watching him for the air of superiority he commands though he comes off as a tad arrogant. Poon Chi Mun’s also an actor who’s been absent from tv for a long time. It’s good to see him back.

    1. Linda’s dad was the same actor in Witness Insecurity. He was the big brother that tried to kill Linda’s uncle in Witness insecurity. Linda witness him shoot the gun into her uncle’s head. Remember now?

Overall I love the casts in this new drama. Lots of characters still haven’t come out yet and those actors/actresses we haven’t seen them on TVB for a long time!!!

    2. Thanks guys for the replies. I didn’t watch Coffee Cat Mama and I don’t recall having seen him in Witness Insecurity. He doesn’t sound like a native Cantonese speaker cos he’s got a kind of accent a little like Elliot Ngok.

      1. Yeah mandarin speaker. Whose husband is he ah? I remember also a TVB actress, just can’t remember who .. Mary Hon? Yeah Mary Hon’s husband!
