Led by Rear Mirror <載得有情人>, ratings for TVB’s recent dramas picked up slightly last week.

Overall ratings rose to 28 ratings points for Rear Mirror‘s broadcast last week, while the final episode averaged 29 points and peaked at 32 points. The drama’s slow pace did not suit all viewers, but maintained moderate ratings since opening. Approximately 2.08 million local viewers tuned in to watch the relationship outcome for Wayne Lai (黎耀祥) and Louisa So (蘇玉華), whose performances in the drama won praise.

Crime drama Line Walker <使徒行者> rose by two ratings points, averaging 27 points and drawing 1.75 million viewers in its second week of broadcast. Billed as Raymond Lam‘s (林峯) last drama with TVB and Charmaine Sheh‘s (佘詩曼) return to the station, viewers warmed up to the thickening plot over Michael Miu’s quest to uncover the hidden police moles working within the triads.

Long-running sitcom Come Home Love’s <愛‧回家> viewership increased by two ratings points to 24 ratings points with an average of 1.56 million viewers.

  1. The series “Rear Mirror” just has 20 episodes; I have wished it is longer. I enjoyed watching it from beginning until the end. I love Wayne Lai&Louisa So playing a couple; there are big chemistry beteen them. Their acting are so good

  2. correct the typing mistakes: “there is a big chemistry between them.”

  3. Yes, rear mirror storyline is absolutely amazing. Love Louise So’s acting and really miss her acting. It was really surprised to see her back on screen. No doubt as usual Wayne Lai has never disappoint us. Really enjoy watch this drama since episode 1 to 20.

  4. Rear Mirror kept me constantly looking forward to the next episode as well. And, ratings for the last/final week was sufficient to pull it up two spots higher (above Ruse of Engagement and Black Heart White Soul) in the rankings (from 5th place to 3rd place, behind Storm in a Cocoon, which is currently in 2nd place).

Considering that Rear Mirror did not use the used-to-death “guess who” scheme as a foundation for the series, this is a great accomplishment.

  5. Wow, sometimes can’t guess the audience. Personally didn’t think this series was appealing.

    1. There you go – can’t pleaze everyone. A larre crowd didnt appreciate the acting of lead actress but in this thread – they are a few fans of this series.

I can’t say i didn’t enjoy this one. Guess the open-ended ending means an encore..

  6. I enjoyed every single episode of this drama. Even my hubby CEO of a particular company in Australia reckons he learned from the drama. Well done.

  7. I love to watch this series because it helps me feel relax after a long working day.

  8. I am loving this series. Very competent male and female lead, plus a great supporting cast! I’m not surprised at it’s good performance in ratings. As much as I love this series, it is just impossible for me to marathon it overnight. lol. I’m trying so very hard not read any articles pertaining to the series for fear of spoilers.

  9. It seems to be the trend these days for the ratings to pick up only in the final week. Maybe people don’t bother to watch the predictable storylines but are curious to know if the ending will provide a twist. Just my guess.

  10. Some times we shouldn’t scrutinize the drama so much. Entertaining is good enough. I personally like the show. Wayne an Louisa are good actor and actress. What is drama?”chor hei ma”

  11. I liked this one, it was deeper than your average TVB series but not so deep like Beauty at War which gave the audience a headache. Lots of advice cleverly woven into the dialogue/storyline that you have to pick up on. Cast performance was good all around.

Two kinds of love present, one with passion that didn’t go overboard like your typical romance series. Very thankful for that, seems these days we’re bombarded with so much of that grandeur love that always has to show an obese amount of affection in order to appeal to a younger audience.

A different kind of love, more mature, was present that went from distrust to respect to admiration before it became love. This was done very well and is probably underrated because of the other love storyline which people are more accustomed to on screen.

A faint tug on the heart, just like the series. Subtly done right.

I think TVB, after years of neglect, might be realizing the audience can stomach change and won’t need to follow their standard formula all the time. At least, that’s my wishful thinking.
