Roger Kwok Almost Fainted From Filming in Hot Weather

Cast members of Inbound Troubles 2 <老表, 你好hea!> including Roger Kwok (郭晉安), Joey Meng (萬綺雯), Wong Cho Lam (王祖藍), and Louis Cheung (張繼聰) are recently busy completing outdoors scenes in Hong Kong’s hot and humid weather. Yesterday, the group shot a protest scene in Shek Kip Mei in the 30-degree Celsius heat. Speaking of the work conditions, Joey pointed out it was not as bad as an earlier scene that Roger had to endure, in which he nearly fainted.

A few days ago, Roger had to wear a thick polar bear costume in the scorching heat for one of his scenes. Having to stay in costume for five whole hours, his face was pale white when he was finally able to take off the headpiece. Roger laughed and announced he lost five pounds after completing the difficult scene. “The director said it was enough when he saw I was close to fainting.”

Roger also spilled that Joey is as fragile as a piece of glass. He recalled, “There was one scene where I had to pick her up and turn around to kiss her. As soon as I lifted her off her feet, she yelled, ‘My ribs just snapped!’, and immediately went for an X-ray as soon as work ended!”

Joey later expressed that her ribs had also been injured in the past while filming for Officer Geomancer <牛頭愛搭馬嘴>. “I’ve had experience, and it usually heals within one week. It should have been fine if I had warmed up,” she said. However, not wishing to place pressure on her costar, Joey did not mention her ribs condition to Roger prior to their scene.

Besides her fragile ribs, Joey revealed she also suffers from low blood pressure. While filming for Inbound Troubles 2, there was a time when she experienced period of shock. As a result, Joey’s husband, Chan Sap Sam (陳十三), prepared her some anti-heatstroke medicine. She expressed, “Ever since I was a child, I could not participate in any arguments or my face would turn gray. It’s probably because of low blood pressure!”
