Vincent Wong Breaks Away from Rich Boy Image

Vincent Wong (王浩信) has always been given the typical handsome rich boy role since his debut. However, after winning the Most Improved Actor award last year, Vincent has been given an opportunity to venture out of his comfort zone with his fouled-mouth correctional officer role in Tomorrow is Another Day <再戰明天>.

Grateful that he has been given a chance to break his good-boy persona, Vincent said, “When I debuted, my first role was a rich boy character, and subsequently, I was always chosen to be this type of character. I hoped that it would change and finally this time in Tomorrow is Another Day, I got the chance to play a fouled-mouth and secretive correctional officer. The role is similar to Chow Yun Fat’s (周潤發) character in An Autumn’s Tale <天的童話>. I’ve re-watched Fat-Gor’s acting for inspiration in addition to my own interpretation of the character.”

Will Continue to Improve

Although Vincent grabbed his first major award last year, he did not stop trying to improve his acting abilities. To him, the award served as an alert for him to continue to work even harder. Finally being recognized after years of hard work, Vincent was given the first male lead role in TVB’s upcoming series, Flat Slaves <樓奴>.

With other well-received roles in Coffee Cat Mama <貓屎媽媽> and Swipe Tap Love <愛我請留言>, Vincent is a hot contender for this year’s Best Supporting Actor award. Vincent humbly expressed that awards are just a side bonus and simply getting a nomination is already a victory.

  1. Love Vincent! He is a versatile actor. Hope to see more of him.

  2. This guy is talented. His acting is “okay” but he has improved so much.

  3. Foul mouth? His character is NOT foul mouth or uncouth, just not clean shaven.

His character is in the danger of becoming like Lawrence’s character whom his character hates! Other than that great performance. TV King for legitimate reasons one day.

    1. I agree! I don’t know understand why Vincent is a strict instructor. Based on his personality and attitude, he should have started as a very linent instructor. Maybe something bad happens, and he starts to see Lawrence’s way and become strict for the students own good.

      1. I think the whole situation with his “master” is a huge turning point for him. I thought it was explained clearly in the reasonings of Man Sir backing up Q sir, or when Q sir was speaking to his colleague about how important it is to have a good foundation.

  4. I enjoy Vincent’s acting too and would love to see him in a comedic role. He would be really funny…

  5. although his acting has improved a lot but is not charismatic enough to be first lead in my opinion, but tvb have no choice to promote him, unless there is a new chow yun fat or tony leung.

    1. Agree I think Ron should be cast as a first lead and then co leading with cast like Vincent and other new artist Ron is a veteran these days.. The reason why I mentioned Ron name is because he has the charmisc and has some special and his fans like Ron leading a drama not playing supporting roles

    2. Actually I think he is one of the rare young actors that can act in TVB recent days. In my opinion, he is surely better than Him Law and Tony Hung. If Him and Tony can lead, Vincent can.

      1. as i said tvb have no choice but to promote the “wrong” guys, sure if even tony hung can everyone can, personaly i would give moksat gor a chance to be first lead,he is terrific in linewalker.

      2. Totally agree Vincent is fantastic actor and this show reflect his versatile acting skills. Why TVB do not promote him to lead roles as he has full of potential. TVB wake up….want good actor not only good looks.

      3. I agree with Fox. Him and Tony(and Jason Chan) are all promoted heavily and lead series with their bad acting and unlikeable performance, but Vincent only lead series is the one he’s currently filming. What’s wrong with TVB’s eyes?

      4. I’m still bitter that Tony leads over Ruco in CPT. I hope Ruco overshadows him totally.

      5. Agree! I believe he’s going to make it big in the showbiz if he’s given all the necessary opportunities.

      6. Tony Hung is HORRIBLE!!!!!!!!! Hard on the eyes, no emotion reading his lines, and can’t act.

    3. I agree that Vincent is much better than Him and Tony.

Sorry to say but Vincent is a much more versitle actor than Ron. Ron might be in the industry long but his acting is just a flatline.

  6. This guy has really improved substantially since he first started. Great job!

  7. I like his role in this series..Love the way he describe Lawrence with Kate at the bar when Kate cried telling him that Uncle Man didn’t admit that he falls for her too.

    1. Yeah, it’s really a funny conversation of Vincent and Kate. Actually, everytime they are together, I just want to laugh. It’s enjoyable

  8. I really liked him in i coffe cat mama! he was great and had great Chemistry with Bosco and the third guy 🙂

  9. TVB is bad. Vincent is so much better than Him Law, Tony Hung, Jason Chan, Oscar Leung but I don’t get why he isn’t promoted to lead yet! The only series he’s lead is the one he’s currently filming with Selena and Eliza! Him, Tony, Jason are all promoted to lead roles but their acting skills are horrible.

    1. Exactly their acting horrible, terrible and is so obvious…come TVB open you eyes big big

  10. Kate and Vincent have the right chemistry acting as couple..is just the way they act

    1. agreed. Josie Ho and Vincent Wong shone brighter than the other two main leads. looking forward to their scenes more now that hoho is out from prison!

  11. I always like Vincent Wong’s acting. In terms of look, he does not look bad. He is tall for a male lead role. All he has to do is to fix his teeth which are not straight.

  12. Really like this drama. Kate’s story is very touching at the end of episode 13. She did an amazing job:)
