Wallace Hou Shaves Head for New Drama
Having to shave his head for the new upcoming costume drama, Biao Men <鏢門>, Wallace Huo (霍建華) was surrounded by the press and fans when he was filming in Beijing. Despite going bald, Wallace was voted as one of China’s most beautiful men in an online forum.
In a Tianya forum, Wallace Huo, Wallace Chung (鍾漢良), Yan Kuan (嚴寬), and Qiao Zhenyu (喬振宇) were voted by fans as the “Four Legendary Beauties”. On the set of Biao Wen, Wallace Huo said that he thought the title was given to women and joked that the other three actors were too beautiful and he did not measure up to them.
Starting his career in popular Taiwanese dramas a decade ago, Wallace shifted his focus to mainland China dramas because he wanted to push his acting limits further. Willing to sacrifice his image over acting opportunities, Wallace shaved his head for Biao Men before signing the official filming contract. Producer Zhou Jingxiang (周劲翔) recalled, “When Wallace took off his hat, we were all very shocked. He actually came with his head shaved. At that moment, we were highly touched because most actors aren’t willing to shave because it’ll affect their work for a period of time.”
After wittily stating that he saves a lot of time from not having to use shampoo on his head, Wallace revealed that he loved the script and that shaving his head is not a problem since his hair will eventually grow back.
Wallace also received a lot of praise from costar, Zou Jing (邹静) and was personally selected by director Han Xiaojun (韩晓军) due to his unique and solemn demeanor – making him perfect for the role.

Wallace Chung and Qiao Zhenyu have their charm on screen, but yes I agree, Wallace Huo and Yan Kuan at first glance look like anime characters. They have very striking features.

My family always hated the Qing dynasty style and feels sorry for the guys back in the days as well as the actors that must sport that look. However, some guys do look great in that look.
