Wayne Lai and Nancy Wu Star in “Eunuchs Leave the Palace”

After the success of 2012’s The Confidant <大太監>, TVB reunites cast members Wayne Lai (黎耀祥), Edwin Siu (蕭正楠), Raymond Cho (曹永廉), and Power Chan (陳國邦) in the unofficial sequel, Eunuchs Leave the Palace <公公出宮>. Nancy Wu (胡定欣), who also starred in The Confidant, joins the cast as Wayne’s romantic interest again – marking their seventh collaboration together at TVB.

Unable to join his fellow colleagues in the unofficial sequel, Raymond Wong (黃浩然) had to decline participating in the series because of schedule conflicts. Similarly, because of Ada Choi’s (蔡少芬) busy schedule, her role was eventually given to Nancy. Denying that she was chosen as a replacement, Nancy said it was fate that she was chosen for the role. Praising the script and storyline, Nancy stated the characters were very well-written and hopes that Eunuchs Leaves the Palace could potentially become the an Anniversary production in next year’s drama line-up.

In contrast to Nancy’s domineering and bossy role, Wayne and Raymond both play very feminine eunuchs. While Wayne has taken on similar roles in the past and believes there should not be too many difficulties getting into character, Raymond relished the novel idea and could not stop laughing with Edwin when he was trying on bras for his costume.

Since the majority of the filming will take place in Mainland China, Edwin was asked whether or not his girlfriend, Priscilla Wong (黃翠如), will be visiting him on set from time to time. Revealing that he will be rooming with Raymond, Edwin jokingly answered that he will have to see if Raymond is willing to give up his bed or not.

  1. Tvb is lacking of actors and actresses. Gone were the days where we could see lots of experienced actors and great actresses in such series.

    1. yes boring and repetitive cast pairings, boring theme, too many ching dynasty period drama from tvb the last years, please make a real wuxia instead.

    2. That’s all they have in TVB atm. And there trying promote those 5 to 1st main lead. Beside Wayne and Raymond Wong cause there already 1st leading male actors.

  2. I hope Nancy Wu will showcase her acting in this drama series. She was not that well accepted in “Overachievers” (her 1st lead role). She needs a good character to establish her as a 1st line actress. She has very good and solid acting skills (among all the 1st lead actresses), but not much luck with her audience.

    1. I thought she says the best actor in Overachievers. Way overshadowed Kate!

    2. she was not well accepted in overachievers because her performance is very flat, she better stay supporting because she could get more versatile roles than when she is leading.she is the same as wayne a better supporting actor than lead.

      1. Some people are prejudiced. If an artiste has been doing supporting roles for a long time, he/she can never be a lead artiste.

Though some people think Wayne does better in supporting roles, but time has proved that he can act lead roles and he has done too many of them already. Just give Nancy some time and more lead roles, people will accept her eventually. As people said, this happened to Tavia Yeung who is not very pretty either.

  3. I like Nancy Wu as I think she is a good actress but lacking opportunities. It would be nice to see her in more different roles. Maybe it is TVB fault for not being able creating more roles that people love, or better characters that people love to hate. When Tavia Yeung started she was in supporting roles till people noticed her acting skills. And I think Nancy has that too.

  4. Wayne will most likely be 2015 tvb tv king he has a few good dramas in line

  5. This is getting too repetitive – same cast again. They are just extremely lucky that they don’t have a strong competitor at the moment, hence they can afford to slack and be lazy and don’t have to up their game.

  6. i’d better see grace chan in the role of ada than nancy. nancy is good in suppoting but not leading actress.

  7. First of all, I only like modern drama, getting tire of seeing Edwin, Wayne, n Nancy, give me back fala, Eliza, or bring back Louis koo, bring back all the fine ones.

  8. Why would they cast Ada in the first place??? o0o TVB seriously. You have such a great asset, Nancy Wu, and you don’t make use of her. Give her a main role! Give her a try. I’m sure she is better than Ada. Ada can’t speak proper cantonese

  9. LOL!!!!! Raymond Cho and Edwin trying on bras. 😀 I can’t wait to watch this series. The Confidant and The Overachievers are my favorite series. It’s sad that Raymond Wong isn’t going to be in this one. I wonder who is playing his role in this series? I support the entire cast! 🙂

  10. the cast is getting so boring ….. i rather watch China, Korean, Taiwan or US drama.

  11. Again with the same cast?! I like each of these actors individually, but having them all act together again so soon is just getting repetitive.

I guess TVB really doesn’t have the variety of people to cast anymore!

  12. I swear i think Nancy is getting prettier and prettier every new role she took.

Has she became lead actress for TVB now? My country only shows series from like 3-4 years back. We are swamped with repetitive boring K series.

I think Kathy chow is another good choice for heavy drama series.

  13. As much as I like Ada, I’m glad that Nancy took her place. I can’t wait to see them (her and Wayne) reunite again!! ^^

  14. I much prefer Nancy than Ada! Will be looking forward to this one, haven’t had good comedy in a long time.
