• Anything is possible. I like Yoyo in her recent characters and it’s a pity she isn’t utilized more (maybe child rearing responsibilities have fallen mostly on her, limiting her time for more opportunities). Who knows.
  • @aidenchan it's not exactly a list, but the BSA nominees can be found here! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yD02cOKBHQY&list=PL6xnAvlFTCA1XrpcXEBq6o8Vx_eVTUDmV&index=15
  • Katy really demonstrated acting range based on her four very different roles (assassin in DBZ, villain in DS, rich girl in Offliners and poor girl in HKLS)...I can definitely see her winning even though it seems so quick. Sisley has also been improving and I can support it...wouldn’t be one of my favorite BA. But Mandy...no. I agree with the above comment, boring... and her acting just isn’t convincing (but that’s just me).
  • Winki was awesome in her Al Capucinno role. Where can I find the listing of nominees for the awards show? I’m curious to know if Elena Kong was nominated for any of her roles. She’s got solid acting chops!
  • @aidenchan We all know Fala was terrible in Triumph in the skies although can tell she tried her best. It was a playful character which was a total opposite of herself. She agreed that her performance which was the main reason why she seeked to study. She deserved credit for that because there are plenty over the years who have performed terrible but continued acting series after series mopping up the money coming their way...
  • @potatochip yes!!! They basically took away all the awesomeness (Michael & Elena, Ben & Priscilla, Raymond & Charmaine) and filled it with the unnecessary (Kenneth and Mandy). Typical case of trying to recreate success by throwing a huge bunch of cast...but not enough time to develop their characters. I’ve also never been a fan of Kenneth or Mandy...
  • @bubbles23 agree - they’re definitely trying to push Owen to first line, but I find his voice and acting to be lacking the charismatic quality of first line actors...the result of talent drain in tvb...
  • @gnomageddon Couldn’t agree more! It was terribly painful to watch her in Triumph in the Skies 2. Not sure Juliard (not matter how prestigious) would help.
  • This was not bad. Different from the typical plot and way of filming, decent cast (I’m a fan of Chilam), and interesting enough to watch to the end (I typically lose interest quickly and disengage after a few episodes, so 6 episodes here weren’t too many to commit to).
  • @aidenchan agreed with all your picks. I’m a huge Vincent fan but al cappuccino was not great and I haven’t finished LM2 yet.
  • @aidenchan I agree these are the best TVB series this year.... I think Life after Death should get best series... and Priscilla for BA, Raymond Lam should get BA I also am not a fan of Vincent Wong...
  • Without giving away any spoilers, my biggest gripe with this series is what they’ve done with practically all the female leads...come on! But agree with everyone here, Kenneth was a total miscast (no more trying to pass off puppy eyes for sadness look). And while none of these series are perfect, here is my personal preference / ranking of the TVB series I’ve managed to watched this year: 1) Death by Zero: unique plot, and solid acting from Wayne Lai. Elena Kwong is also highly underrated. 2) Line Walker: just a huge fan of the dynamics amongst Michael Miu, Raymond Lam & Benz Hui, and the original love story arc between Michael & Elena Kong; and Raymond & Charmaine. I really hope they being a Charmaine back. 3) Life After Death: while there is a lot of flak on Priscilla, she is starting to grow on me, especially after this series. 4) Brutally Young: good acting and plot but this got way too serious and real for me, and I’m just not enough of a Shaun Tam fan. Not a Vincent Wong fan so didn’t mention any of his series here.
  • Is this really Huang Xiaoming?
  • @aidenchan I would say definitely. Kevin Cheng probably gets paid more than Kenneth too...
  • Curious to know if this means she’s being paid more than Kenneth...
  • Oh no! Was actually looking forward to watching Ruco. And a bigger OH NO! Not another SK series! She was acceptable in DBZ but sadly, after that, her acting as well as all her characters were forgettable...The only acting I find worse than hers in Al Cappucino was from Christy Fung...Stop already!
  • Don’t waste your time and money. For a $200m Disney film, it was sad and disappointing that a classic (in both the traditional Chinese ballad sense and the Disney animated movie sense) has come to this: lack of character depth, over emphasis on feminism (don’t get me wrong, I’m all for that but the original storyline focuses on honor, grit and filial piety), anti-climatic villain demise, and worst of all, the wooden LYF acting. Just like any movie rendition of a comic or book, be respectful and true to the storyline. It was sad enough they didn’t include the music (singing) or many of the comedic humor that made the animated version enjoyable, adding the Phoenix or witch did not help the storyline and made the plot questionable. The worst part for me was the introduction of Chi in this version which entirely took away from how hard Mulan really had to work to be as strong as her peers and be accepted by them. Mulan was successful because of her wit and hard work, not because of the Chi. Even with major stars Jet Li, Donnie Yen and Gong Li in supporting (and underutilized) roles, this did not help LYF. Hopefully the next live action remake of the Disney classics, will be better. Sigh...
  • Really cute! Lai Lok Yi seems like a good dad and husband. It scares me a bit to see the kid so close to the balcony glass, if he were to climb up the water float pool.
